L.P Hartley got it right
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in L.P Hartley got it right
I don't think I would have liked Yel very much. She seemed a drama collector/instigator. Why else would she keep Minty around her circle?! Not my scene. I think it's great advice to hold off on the baby talk for 5 years! Who knows where the guys will be in five years. Maybe Neil will be a famous well-known artist and Alex will be a successful and popular composer? Or maybe they'll still be sometimes struggling, sometimes successful? I just hope they're happy and together.- 11 comments

Sometimes we get hit with sudden changes that we have no choice but to accept and move on, like Levi's mom's death, meeting his dad, and moving. Other times we adjust so slowly that we all the sudden realize that we changed, without really knowing it. I feel like the latter is often healthier and more "real". It implies a choice, rather than just adjusting to things thrust upon you.

Chapter 15 Trousers and Cigars
CincyKris commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 15 Trousers and Cigars
I'm so happy our predictions were correct, but way more land than we thought! August and Fletcher will be able to realize their dreams together. His amazing good fortune is contrasted by Runyan's desperate longing for Willy James. I can only hope that Albert doesn't find out about the land. Thank goodness there was no fast way to spread gossip over a big distance! Big news may have traveled fast by train or Telegraph, but August's news will be kept close by his and Fletcher's loved ones.- 28 comments

My first fear was that Miles was developing schizophrenia, which usually presents around his age. I hope not, because that is a really tough diagnosis. Like @weinerdog, I wonder who the "her" is in Miles' dream. His mom is in jail, so is dad. We didn't hear about a sister? If Miles was telling Troy the truth about therapy, he was struggling to work things out in his head, suggesting heavy stuff like repressed memories or a difficult diagnosis.

Was this last line referring to Meg’s ordeal or foreshadowing the boys’ future? I know my guess! Little did I know that anguish is sometimes the price of perfection.

Now that Tom's family knows, it kind of puts their relationship in a different category. It sort of legitimizes it. Considering it directly followed their argument and the make-up making love, they are in new territory.

So much change in such a short time, Levi has had to learn so much so fast. The kind of knowledge most kids have of their parents is learned slowly over time. This trip might help him play catch-up. My suggestion is a lot of listening and thinking on this camping trip.

Drinking whiskey and rye? By the campfire, but not Levi!

Chapter 8 A Troubled Soul
CincyKris commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 8 A Troubled Soul
Thank you @Bft and @Headstall! I am on a new infusion that will take some time and will hopefully work. In the meantime, I'm on a temporary med that has eased all of my arthritis pain. I feel 40 again! -
Chapter 14 The Eyes Have It
CincyKris commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 14 The Eyes Have It
I agree, much more than friends! I think Gran and Dorothea will be very understanding and sympathetic to both "Augustus" and Fletcher, and to Runyan and Willy James! It appears that August is a few minutes away from being a landed man!- 55 comments

Things are starting to get better inside Levi's head. He will take time to find his new normal. Great to see Shane and Jimmy! I didn't make the connection with his first appearance. I look forward to more about Jimmy and Shane.

I liked the realism of the fight. Mitchell had a gut reaction, let those emotions play out, but used his brain to temper his anger. He both self admitted and verbally admitted he was wrong. He loves Tom and that matters more than his anger. Tom handled the whole situation very well. I think this will be a great learning experience for them.

Chapter 13 Fox and Other Tales
CincyKris commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 13 Fox and Other Tales
The guys had such a welcome to their new town! Cliffy sounds like a good fella. I’m really looking forward to August’s reunion with his grandma. And for Runyan’s reunion with Willy James. It’s obvious that Maureen was well loved in her home town. I think they will adopt our boys as locals.- 42 comments

Levi is learning some life lessons, the hard way. But aren't those the ones that stick?

Been there, done that, the straw too! In my younger days, of course. Both are bad, straw is itchier, sand is scratchier and much harder to get rid of! Beds are nice.

Oliver has spent the first 3 weeks learning his own body and mind, and maybe learning to trust in himself, maybe he's not all the way there yet. Now, he's learning to trust in another person, for the first time in his adult life.

Kamyk is one hell of a survivor! I'm guessing that the kindness shown by Shem is the first of his life.

Ragtag group of freaks, weirdos, and rejects, I love it!

Grooming appointment?

Did anyone find the Easter egg? Because I reread it and I sure didn't.

I was playing around! I really do know it was Danza! But now I'm thinking about Sam Malone doing commercials for old people phones!
-
LOL! Tony Danson was Tony Banta. Ted Danson was Sam Malone! Do not try to beat me on 80's TV! I'm old!

Tony Danson? Did our lawyer previously drive a Taxi? Enjoy a career as a manny/housekeeper for a blonde yuppie?

The boys are showing their good hearts again! I was most impressed by Runyan, he's a hell of a smart and resourceful man. Barnswallow will benefit from his brains and skills. Willy James is a lucky man, well hopefully.

Well, the grooming ultimately failed! We all had Casey's number, now so does Levi. Hopefully Levi will realize that Luke and Matt can give him the support and love he so desperately needs. And Casey is yet another self-hating gay Thompson asshole. They need to stop breeding!
