Parental duties & football practice
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Parental duties & football practice
I'm glad Therese is allowing the girls to play, even if it is only because it happens on Ralph's time. I'm a little surprised that non-school (intramural here in the states) soccer for girls is not more widespread in England! Even here, where professional soccer is not nearly as popular, most kids play soccer from 5 or 6 to 10 or 11. After that the ones that really like it and/or are actually good stick with it. Even I played, not later though, I sucked! And that was in the 70's.- 14 comments

Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
CincyKris commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
Colleen is perfection! I envy you the first read of this fantastic story. You will not be disappointed. -
I love well written historical fiction, and this I very well written! I enjoyed George's adventures and look forward to more.

I knew war was imminent, of course. War speeds everything up, it always has. Necessity is the mother of invention and war is all about necessity. Combat promotions come fast and furious, unfortunately for those who were not quite ready, as they will likely be casualties to be replaced also. But our George is not common, I think he will excel.

Lukas is being a good friend, hopefully something more than friendship will come of this. I wonder if Christoph the engineer works for a certain tunnel boring engineering firm? Fate just keeps on smiling at Lukas.

Mother at Norton Priory
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Mother at Norton Priory
It was a bittersweet trip down memory lane, perhaps therapeutic for Susan. The trip also brought up more thoughts of the future for Vaughan and Dan. They seem to be handling it well, they have no problems communicating. Vaughn sensed a bit of subtle disquiet from Greg and Len, I wonder what's going on? -
How George handles this negative experience will test his aristocratic skills. I just hope his relationship with Travers does not get sacrificed.
-
Thanks! I'll look at that link.

I think "dalliances" were fairly common, and poorly kept secrets. As long as they were not reported or witnessed by men not "in the know", they were not a priority.
-
George was triumphant in this chapter! First with Iggy, who appears to genuinely have fallen in love with him. Fortunately, George is just in like with Iggy. I see Iggy as a potentially influential friend, a lively sometime lover, and a total loose cannon. He needs to be handled with care. He is mending fences with his crush. I agree Travers was jealous. His heroic lifesaving actions will further increase the affections and respect of the crew.
-
I don't doubt for a second that George will gain the upper hand with Iggy. He is remarkably perceptive and adaptable. I look forward to the show!

My first impression is that George's quick mind, good manners, and affable personality will take him far, farther than his nobility even. Wilcox could learn a few lessons, but refuses to even acknowledge this. I think the Captain doesn't miss much and it will all work it's way out in time.

What a wonderful and heartfelt meeting! I think one of the two busy men needs to arrange a trip across the Atlantic! I'm happy for Lukas, as well. It must be so gratifying to see the fruits of his labor.

I need a mattress so have done some searching on the internet, there are a lot of mattresses at a very wide range of prices. I need to take a lesson from Adam and just do it! I enjoyed Kai's internal thoughts, it showed his vulnerability and his consideration for Adam. He would rather take the pain than cause Adam to worry. We already know that Adam would rather upset his routined world than be impolite to Kai's family. These two are made for each other. They are just starting their relationship, but are already able to have a conversation about enemas!

Lunch-boxes and packages
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Lunch-boxes and packages
So it appears that fate is converging on Ralph! First the glimpse of Gordon, now the swimwear website will put all the "bits and bobs" right in his face. Listen to fate Ralph! Note to Therese: get ready for the tween wars (x2)! Those girls are not going to put up with their mother's nonsense for much longer. And, when Ralph finally decides to break free and Therese goes batshit, guess who the twins will choose.- 13 comments

It certainly appears the "the Jock" is still alive, and quite successful. Despite his scary and unfortunate experiences in the war. Maybe he became stronger due to those experiences. Now, will Lukas fly back to the States, or will his father fly to Austria? I'm really looking forward to finding out.

"The hang" is turning into a much bigger deal than just the private side-job for an acquaintance. I can't see Heyward passing up the chance for a public spectacle! I wonder if Vaughan's compatriots will review it favorably?
-
This was a chilling and gripping chapter. I wonder about the jock. Did Hans ever find out what happened to him? Looking forward to the next chapter.

Sneaky Mark is trying to surprise his friends, I wonder if his skill is a giveaway? I appreciate that Mark is not taking advantage of his family status and money to get ahead in his mining work. This way, he'll learn more and value it more.

Windy Island was a character into itself. Andy used it to gain solitude, then to hide away. Matt used it to heal, twice. Andy and Matt together don't feel the need to hide away or to heal, they can move on to a better life. Loved it!

I actually had 4, but didn't post them. But to be fair, 3 of them were fairly obvious, if you have read the authors. @quokka, @kbois, and @astone2292, I'm talking about you! Great job to all the Secret Authors!

Chapter 1 Darts of Destiny
CincyKris commented on kbois's story chapter in Chapter 1 Darts of Destiny
You're also going to need to read @astone2292's Shadows series to really get this. Make sure you read all the comments for their stories! There is an All-Star chapter in this story that is not to be missed, #wewasrobbed! -
Great start to the new story! I find it interesting that Ralph, who chose image instead of real happiness, also chose a woman who puts image above all else. I have sympathy for Ralph, but also realize that he chose his course in life. I look forward to the "breaking free" part of this tale. Whilst reading, I was looking forward to @Summerabbacat's critique of Therese, and I was not disappointed!
