Barb was described as "a glossy blond advertising executive". If Ralph wants his parents to discover his orientation from himself, rather than through word of mouth, he needs to hurry! A shit-stirring ad exec would love to spread this juicy gossip.

When Therese dressed the girls like dolls and expected them to behave as effect young ladies, I expected her to blow up with a homophobic rant. She didn't, which is good, but she did out him to her harpy friends. Her motivations are amazingly selfish. It seems every thought the woman has is about her, how it effects her and her job. Besides the fact that she's a giant hypocrite (she's hardly ladylike herself), she seems to care about the girls, as long as they don't impede on her precious time! I think she is the most complicated female character you have written, so far. The positive takeaway here is that Ralph is slowly coming out to his friends and colleagues. Baby steps!

I think the sexy time was just as restorative as the sleepy time, for both of them. Also River had to recover from Ai's non-stop commentary. It's obvious that the siblings love each other and I suspect that Kenji raised Ai as much or more than their parents, but their personalities could not be more different! Kenji is all business business and Ai is all fun fun. I like her, but she would exhaust me. Good thing River is a lot younger than me!

I loved this most recent episode of the Volvo Tales. You had me laughing at Aunt Sally's total discombobulation while she was attacking the detested Tommy Johnson. Then sympathy and sorrow for the boys. I think the time shifts added urgency to the story, and made me slow down a little to pay closer attention. You started with Singing in the Rain and finished with playing in the mud. Great storytelling!

This was Ralph's first big step, he's actually looking at a boyfriend as a possibility! Will Nolan be the one? At least he's ok with kids, seems kind. I wonder how Therese will react? -
I'm surprised the "friends" went along with Alex's scheme. I'm betting they will fold to the feds after about 30 seconds of questioning and throw Alex under the bus.

Gee, I wonder who the "contract security" company willing to work nude will be? Will Russ be invited to the party, it sounds like his scene? Russ and Francis have similarities, but Russ is more genuine and a better businessman, and also nicer. I love to hear that Vaughan and Dan are moving in together. I too am very excited at the thoughts of Mother and Nona both attending the private showing, mingling with the guys' group of eclectic friends. All with a bunch of willies on the walls!- 11 comments

The River that came to Alec’s party (not sure how far in the future that is) was transformed. Now we know just how depressed and anxious he really was, that transformation is even more pronounced. I’m looking forward to how that happened. Kenji also seemed more settled and less scary at the party. Can’t wait to find out!

I felt that George really grew up mentally in this book. He has been succeeding due to a combination of instinct, brains, and luck and has made the most of it. I think the conversation with Caroline was vital to his success with his wife and his career. They are on the same page.

Good luck improving it, it's pretty good already. It's my day off, and I'm a decently fast reader. I'm very much enjoying George's exploits in the Indian Ocean.

My goodness, you have certainly tainted the waters for anyone named Wilcox! I do hope any current Wilcoxes have not received poor treatment from loyal GA readers! I am loving this story. I have not been commenting as much due to my eagerness to get to the next chapter!

Ha, I called it! Fate is bringing together our young men. I hope Lukas is paying attention to that language class, I have a feeling he will be staying a while longer. He was burnt out on law school anyway, perhaps Christoph can help him find his new direction.

I'm glad Therese is allowing the girls to play, even if it is only because it happens on Ralph's time. I'm a little surprised that non-school (intramural here in the states) soccer for girls is not more widespread in England! Even here, where professional soccer is not nearly as popular, most kids play soccer from 5 or 6 to 10 or 11. After that the ones that really like it and/or are actually good stick with it. Even I played, not later though, I sucked! And that was in the 70's.- 14 comments

I knew war was imminent, of course. War speeds everything up, it always has. Necessity is the mother of invention and war is all about necessity. Combat promotions come fast and furious, unfortunately for those who were not quite ready, as they will likely be casualties to be replaced also. But our George is not common, I think he will excel.

Lukas is being a good friend, hopefully something more than friendship will come of this. I wonder if Christoph the engineer works for a certain tunnel boring engineering firm? Fate just keeps on smiling at Lukas.

It was a bittersweet trip down memory lane, perhaps therapeutic for Susan. The trip also brought up more thoughts of the future for Vaughan and Dan. They seem to be handling it well, they have no problems communicating. Vaughn sensed a bit of subtle disquiet from Greg and Len, I wonder what's going on? -
How George handles this negative experience will test his aristocratic skills. I just hope his relationship with Travers does not get sacrificed.
