I hope Eon’s fire magik can save him from being eaten alive the first time he and Wren have a lovers’ spat 😰 But since Wren likes getting entangled with people who can hurt him, I imagine the make up sex will be pretty spicy. (Also I’d better run now because Eon’s going to kill me.)

Eon says Mallex has changed, but I think Eon is the one who changed. Lex is still the same old bully he used to be, more or less. Eon only grew into a better person when he began to see Kalian as a human being deserving of empathy. 🤞Talon will make it through. I really hate to see him suffer, but his book on the boringness of nature shows us how much torture he can endure. Seriously though, every chapter I think I couldn’t love him more and every chapter you prove me wrong. You’re killing me @Demiurge

Personally, I think it’s pretty rude of them to judge you. I don’t see the difference between repeated wedding ring wear and repeated wear of other kinds of jewelry. Whoever it is that made the comment needs to get a new hobby. Seriously though, I don’t get why they noticed or cared.

Well, Wren is horrifying, isn’t he? Of course Talon would be his favorite. I have a feeling he’s going to provide both a boon and a terrible complication to the story. Definitely fun to look at the world through Talon’s eyes for a little while.

Part of me is just slightly glad I came to this so late, because I never have to wait for the next chapter. It’s as if the writer’s block is magically disappeared through the use of my lateness magik (the only type I appear to possess *poof*). The other part is just plain glad I get to read this awesome story at all, so it’s a win-win. If they hurt Talon, Kalian doesn’t need to lift a finger. I will be the one to jump the 4th wall and slaughter them.

You really dialed up the tension this chapter. My heart is still racing!! Mad respect for Jett keeping it together through all those phone calls. Poor guy 😩 But I’m sure it’s better to keep busy, actively helping with something, than sitting around getting worried out of his mind. Now I suspect Greene may have an accomplice within the prison system. That accident was very unlikely to be a coincidence, and it’s also unlikely he could have pulled it off without inside help. Hmmm…

Such a satisfying chapter. Seeing Kalian succeed using all he’s learned, even though the odds were against him at every turn, was a very nice twist and so captivating to read. Ugh just amazing. Also, crispy hands 😫 I can’t decide if I loved or hated that observation of Talon’s lol.

Now I’m re-reading the end of the story and I realize I missed that this is all happening in Friday, the day Greene was released from prison. Maybe he made an escape, but then how would he figure out where Kim was living so quickly? Maybe he has an accomplice…

Nooooo! That’s a particularly evil cliffie, just when we thought they were safe from the monster. Poor Kyle 😔 And Kim really doesn’t need any more trauma. Save them, Jett. I can’t even imagine who did it so I’ll have to troll the comments for everyone else’s conjectures. Before everything went awry… That wink was so creepy that it made me shudder. And Kyle was adorable at the magic show, getting nervous when Jett disappeared. Eagerly awaiting your next update.

That little “wow” face is a pretty close approximation of my expression while reading this chapter. I love that the queen is so aloof. So very queenly of her to immediately spot and disdain Kalian’s inexperience.

The banter between Kalian and Talon is so very good. And Lex is up to no good, I’m sure of it. I can’t wait to find out what he’s got up his sleeve!

I put my comment for the next chapter on this one by mistake. I think the steaminess scrambled my brain 😂

Sometimes it seems like Kalian is using Lex’s attention to make Talon jealous. But at the same time, everyone Kalian has ever cared for has mistreated him and denied him any sense of value or worth. When you think about it that way, it’s no surprise he struggles with drawing a consistent boundary with Lex. How do you assert yourself with someone who has been allowed to walk all over you since you were little? That mental game would take a lot of growth to win, and Kalian has just barely started to grow. The tension ramping up between Talon and Kalian is excellent. Despite his arrogant antics, my sympathy for Talon grows with every chapter. He has a lot of self control. There is a lot of character nuance making me enjoy this story very much.

The entire battle scene, I was hoping Lex would die, but my wish didn’t come true 😢

Kyle’s flipping out seemed to come out of nowhere - Jett may have asserted his opinion one too many times but to call it bullying is a stretch. Then the days of silent treatment seems over the top as well. His experience with his ex must have been awful but it doesn’t justify that kind of behavior. I hope it’s not a trend, because whew that’s some high maintenance BS.

Lex’s mom must have given in whenever he threw a tantrum, seems like he never grew out of the terrible twos. What an insufferable ass. On the topic of bad mothers, Kalian’s mom really takes the cake. She apparently sees all her kids as pawns for her own status. I imagine that until Kalien’s powers impress some of her snobby friends, she won’t bother to act impressed herself.

Jett getting all excited for his present had to be my favorite part of this chapter. Kyle almost saying the L word got a close second. And third? Ch ch ch chia! Why am I even doing a ranking? Loved the whole thing.
