    Chapter 16

Hmm, I wonder what went wrong. Sorry about that. Fictionpress: tleiaxu Fantasy-writers.org: insideout Deviantart: insideoutnbackwards

    Jus Sanguinis

I read and re-read the first few paragraphs of this story thinking Pieter seemed too forceful, and it raised a flag but I just wasn’t sure. Great job with that foreshadowing. I really enjoyed the fantasy aspects of this story. Sparks the imagination. Nice work

    Chapter 16

The majority of my writing is hiding on my google drive or lost forever in the abyss of the early 2000s internet. I have two older pieces you can find on FictionPress. They have a similar tone to this. Also have several short stories up on fantasy-writers.org, (in the fantasy genre), though it’s a members only site so you won’t be able to read unless you sign up, unfortunately. I feel really passionate about writing right now, and I’m not nearly as shy about sharing as I used to be. Planning my next novel as we speak! So while there won’t be a sequel to TLYC, there is more to come. I’m kind of fickle creatively and tend to flip-flop between writing and art every few years. Artwork can be found here if you’re interested. Thanks for reading and leaving the super motivating comments!

    Chapter 3

Thank you, I’m so glad to hear it!
  5. You are cracking me up 🤣 But as the old adage goes, it’s not the size of the words that matters, but how you use them.

    Chapter 10

Thank you so much for the lovely comments. And I do appreciate your editor’s eye. I’ve actually been caught more than once mixing up names. I’m working with a cast of characters a little larger than I’m used to and as much as I’d love to blame Rachel, it’s my fault, not hers! Next time I write for this site I’m going to enlist some help before posting chapters and hopefully will be able to avoid these types of errors.

    Chapter 9

I have seen puzzles like this and wonder how on Earth anyone has the patience for them! They look impossible to me. She puts so much pressure on Ethan without really understanding how much she’s asking of him. But he takes all the burdens she places on him in stride. I think she sensed correctly that he’s also a protector like she is, in his own way. I’m really enjoying reading your thoughts here, thank you so much for leaving your comments.

    Chapter 5

You’re definitely on to something there. Ethan has some fierce protective instincts both for himself and others.
  9. Ugh I loved this whole story so much. From beginning to end it was entertaining, lively, and completely engrossing. Amazing work!! Aiden and Carson have an enviable life. I’m glad Aiden’s not the jealous type anymore. Everyone smothers these kids in attention, so I’m sure that’s partly why Aiden doesn’t feel left behind with the arrival of his brother. Those hashtags are adorable btw. I hope all the fame and fortune doesn’t go to their lil heads. The Loelife Cafe is the perfect business idea. I wish there was one in real life. I happen to love coconut, so I’ll help you save all the poor drinks before @kbois dumps them in the pool 😂😂

    Chapter 8

I got the impression that most if not all the parents thought they were making legitimate adoptions. 🤞 I hope that’s the case.

    Chapter 8

If that psycho doctor gets out on parole, I’ll go into your fictional world and hunt him down myself. Jett is being so sweet and supportive. It’s too bad all this stuff had to come up when their relationship is still so new because I have a feeling it will be all-consuming. I hope they weather the storm together without too much damage done.

    Chapter 10

Quickdraw for the win! Mike’s “shoot first, ask questions later” sounded pretty badass too. I guess if I had an amazing suit and weapon like that I’d be pretty confident, too. One can dream 😂
  13. That is pretty awesome when you think about it. GA just seems to get better the deeper you dig. Thanks everyone for all the tips and sage advice!
  14. Before I tackle my next story, I thought I’d take some time to focus on things I’d like to improve in my writing. I narrowed it down to two main areas so I don’t get overwhelmed: 1. Plotting. Usually when I start writing something, I dive into the deep end head-first and blindfolded. I end up wasting a lot of time trying to figure out what on Earth I’m writing about. But the thought of a more structured approach scares me away because I lose motivation whenever I try it. If I already worked out the whole story then where’s the fun in writing it? But I really want to improve my plotting. I think there has to be a middle ground. I picked up a book on the subject (thanks @Myr) and I’m looking forward to trying a new approach. 2. Asking for help. Not my strong suit, but editors and beta readers seem invaluable when it comes to making a story better than it could have been just working in my own bubble. What are some things you would like to improve in your own writing? What resources have you found along the way that helped you reach your goals?

    Chapter 1

This story was moving. You set the scene with lovely descriptions. I remember hearing about this storm on the news and thinking about what it must have been like. Sometimes life throws a wrench into our routines. While uncomfortable, it gives us a chance to look at things from a new perspective. Instead of being at home kicking his feet up, Craig got to meet James, who opened his eyes to new possibilities for the direction he wants to take his life. At the end of the story I found myself taking a big sigh and hoping the best for Craig. I was really invested! Great work.

    Chapter 7

Holy #@&* I expected something bad but that horrifying tale was nowhere near what I thought Kim might have endured. Six years trapped like that would be insanely traumatizing. Kim was a fighter and very sharp to mark the days. And poor Kyle, too, that is a lot to take in! Wow. I didn’t see any editing problems btw, if there were any, I was way to absorbed to even notice. Also what time/day is it again? Totally lost track, I may need some time to recover from this chapter lol

    Chapter 1 Story

Your honest descriptions of Zane’s nerves and tendency to plan made him endearing and relatable. It’s sad that so many moments in Zane’s life added up to make him feel so uncomfortable about his sexuality, but such is the world we live in. Also, I love that his first thought when he saw Fenix was Pirate. Very nice work.

    Chapter 9

I hope they get to the escaped Narthie in time… 🤞

    Chapter 37

I felt so bad for Brody. Zack is crying and out of sorts, saying “I hope you’ll still be there for me waiting on the other side” and not explaining his plans clearly at all. Brody must be on red alert right now thinking wtf is Zack about to do? Jump off a bridge?? If I were him I’d be flipping out. Fingers crossed the teacher does his job and gets Zack some help without putting him in further danger from his dad. Your writing is seriously going to give me a heart attack with all the anxious build up lol ❤️ Can’t wait to see what happens next.

    Chapter 6

I love how some families revert to being a bunch of overgrown children when they get together. You illustrated that very well 😂Jett’s siblings sound like so much fun. I want to play Cards Against Humanity with them. Poor Kim, I hope she can open up and tell Jett what’s going on.
  21. The nerve of these jerks to think they can get away with these BS lawsuits. The court better tag on an extra jail sentence for asshattery. You did a great job with the realism here. Hoping the FBI gets them where it hurts! Also, I am crossing my fingers we get a glimpse at the results of this endeavor to expand the family. Mini Seamus sounds irresistible.

I’m so happy you feel that way. Endings are hard. It was great to have your comments along the way. Thank you!!

    Chapter 16

I envision a future for them somewhere in between the city and the wilderness so they can the best of both worlds. But you’re right, wherever they end up, they have the strong foundation that builds a happy relationship. Thank you so much for reading and leaving comments along the way.

    Chapter 16

It’s been such a good motivator to read your kind words and comments throughout. I’m so happy you feel this way about the story. They definitely deserved to have some peace and contentment after all they have been through.

    Chapter 16

your generous and kind words just make my cup overflow! Thank you so much @Philippe. It felt very satisfying to give them a happy ending. I wish all good people who go through difficult life circumstances could have the same.
