That sounds like great news! Hope business continues in a positive direction for you

I’ll try not to speculate too much. Everyone already said what I was thinking, and if they’re wrong, then all the characters in the whole story might be related for all I know... Great chapter, I always love to see the action scenes with Bruce being the hero! Looking forward to seeing how this family dinner goes.

Oh yes, they are incredibly savvy!! And man, why was describing the burrito in exquisite detail the last thing that occurred to me? I think I should eat one while I contemplate this 😂 ❤️

I’m very curious about the Kim/Kyle connection. Her flash of recognition definitely didn’t add up to the reasoning she gave. I’m also speculating that this is somehow related to the issues in Kyle’s family. Kyle and Jett seem to be better for each other with every step they take to get closer. Hopefully Jett won’t let whatever is troubling Kyle get in the way 🤞

Thank you so much! I really like your way of putting it. There are so many little things in life that can make it good if you let them. Ethan is returning to the present moment now even when he’d rather escape, and each of the things you mentioned help reel him back in.

Yup, thankfully Jonathan and Michael are good friends now that they’ve gotten to know each other. I love writing about Chuck and BeeBee, although they’re doing a bad job of convincing me I’d like to own a pet bird any time soon lol

I really hope so too 🤞 Thanks so much for your comment

On the road, thunder rolled through clouds lit up faintly by the city lights. Fat drops of rain began to splash against the windshield of Rayna’s car. The splatter became a steady hum, and by time we reached Jonathan’s place it became a full on downpour. I watched the raindrops travel around and absorb each other on their journey across the windows. Jonathan’s fingers criss-crossed with mine on the car seat between us. Now and then he reminded me of his presence with the light pulse of his

Oh no, the poor Narthies! I wonder what happened to them, although I have my suspicions! I agree with @drpaladin that Mike should have brought Cally or Derry with him. They are just as safe as he is in those suits and he might need backup. I definitely understand why he sees them as his responsibility but yikes! 😱 Can’t wait to read what happens now.

I loved seeing Jett and Bruce in action at the beginning of this chapter! I can’t imagine doing this kind of adrenaline fueling job then grabbing lunch casually afterwards like “another day another dollar.” It takes a special sort of emotional regulation and maturity. Jett seems pretty badass now in my book. As for Kim, I’m worried about her. Hope she has more of a support system than just her dog. Looking forward to hearing more about her story.

They are just rhetorical questions, things that crossed my mind as I read. Definitely not looking for answers anywhere but within the story itself!

I’m really enjoying your haikus. This one is poignant.

After reading this, I feel a sudden need to cuddle with a pup! So many cute dogs. And Kyle’s childhood story was adorable.

I’m starting to suspect that there is more behind this tribe of bullying Crites than meets the eye. Hopefully taking away access to their weapons will be as straightforward as everyone seems to think it will be.

All the surprises were so adorable and sweet. And then the last one comes swinging up! I’m hoping the bad news is something mundane like more paperwork 🤞

Ooo yay, I was looking forward to reading something of yours. Perfect timing. “So far Bruce’s track record was 100% recovery with only three persons having expired before they could be found.” Does expired mean what I think it means? 😰 Jett’s family’s names are hilarious. His dog is very lovable. The love interest is intriguing. And Kim is my spirit animal lol Looking forward to the next installment!

Thank you so much for the kind words!! I want to be Rayna when I grow up too lol. Technically I’m already grown up but one can dream. You’re right, the Jamesons threats can’t hold a candle to the strength they all show together in support of Ethan and Michael. I feel so bad for Leah too. She needs some of that support.
-
Thank you so much for the kind and motivating words!! I agree, someone should be looking out for Leah. Everyone else had someone to stand up for them during this encounter, while the youngest and most vulnerable one was mostly ignored. I also want to steal her away to a safe environment

You’re welcome 😇 Mrs. Jameson is really something else. She can twist reality to make it seem like her decision to stand by her husband makes sense. She has been doing it for many years. Vilifying Ethan and turning Leah against him was easier for her than accepting that she’d put her son through hell by staying in that toxic environment. But confronted with the evidence of her husband’s abuse right in her face she crumbled.

Thank you!! Yessss Ranya for the win. Ethan isn’t very good at opening up. Hopefully someone will set him straight because he isn’t likely to think it’s the therapist’s fault that it isn’t going well.

Slow as snowmelt, I settled into my new life in Toronto. Between long hours at the furniture store, I made time for the multitude of people who had gravitated into my circle. Phone calls with Sophie happened weekly. I shared dinner with Michael and the Gordons almost every night. They helped me feel part of the warm and happy family I’d craved my entire life. Outings with Jonathan’s crew gave me a window into their busy lives. On his days off, Jonathan spent much of his time working on his artic

It was such a huge relief when Seamus finally got ahold of Matt. I hate to see either of them feeling so miserable. Two more chapters 😭 I’m gonna miss this story.

So much mystery unveiled in this chapter. So, it appears that everyone on this planet is terrified to use the doorways because of the great menace, but some of the more rebellious and troublesome Crites are testing boundaries. This makes me wonder - there must be aliens out there braver and scarier than these prod-wielding bullies. How many others across the multitude of planets have dared to attempt using the doorways since the menace first appeared? What has happened to them - has the menace gobbled them all up? Or are they finding that the menace isn’t a real threat? Either way, what does that say for the safety of our trio? Only time will tell...

That excerpt worked 100%, looks like an excellent read. I’ll go check it out. -
The blackouts are scary and dangerous, indeed. Ethan’s got some serious demons to work through, and his rage has origins that will be explored as the story rolls on. Always glad to have you back, and take your time, there’s no rush! So happy to hear that you are enjoying it
