    Chapter 33 S1

Yes, opossums love to feast on any food you leave out for your pets, even if you only do it occasionally.

    Chapter 32 S1

You've got to consider that if the shaman tests them, he is setting himself up to be killed in the process. Since he knows Gramps and Pops there and they are experienced, he might not feel it's necessary to challenge them or take the chance of getting killed in the process.
  3. Hanker or hankering or old time or old west sayings. My grandfather used to use the term a lot. He had a hankering for this or that, such as a "hankerin' to go watch some wraslin' at the Masonic Temple," where they occasionally held professional wrestling matches.

A heck of a reputation, so let's make sure it stays in Australia.

I'm not sure if they able to transition into cartoon spokesperson or cartoon characters at all, but I'd think not.

Venus Fly Trap 1 - Spider 0 But the rest of those snippets were wild.
  7. Intonation also describes how a voice rises and falls in speech. The world would be a very dull place if everyone spoke in monotone and didn't use intonation.

Thank you, Terry, for your thoughtful comment. I'm glad you enjoyed this little tale.

    Harbinger

I've faced several days like that: one with my grandmother, one with my grandfather, one with my father-inl-law, one with my mother-in-law, and one with my mom. I'm glad yours had a better ending, and I hope all future bouts turn out as well. I wasn't that fortunate and this poem brought back many dark memories, but I enjoyed it just the same. Well done.

    Chapter 22 S1

Don't worry, folks. I'm not going to have them telelport anywhere or do any space traveling - well Devin might want to, but I don't he'll go through with it. I try to keep this story grounded in reality, more the most part.

    Chapter 20 S1

Yes, and thank you for reminding us of that.
  12. The poet John Milton is often given credit for creating/first using this word in 1637.
  13. From 1907 until the early 1930s the Ziegfeld Follies was a revue consisting of songs, skits, and dance numbers. The Folies Bergere began as the Folies Trevise in 1869 and became the Folies Bergere in 1872. It was the most famous music hall in Paris and Josephine Baker made her debut there in 1926. The Las Vegas Les Folies Bergere operated in the Hotel Tropicana from 1959-2009.

    Chapter 35 S1

You're welcome, and I agree. It appears our time on the reservation with the shaman is coming to an end, but that doesn't mean the story in ending. There will be plenty more to come.

    Chapter 35 S1

That's an interesting detail that could come in handy someday. Thanks for telling us, drs.
  17. I'm glad you enjoyed this story, but I'm only demented when it comes to writing Halloween stories.

    Chapter 35 S1

Ok, I'll answer the question for you, since Anton_Cloche has already spilled the beans. I wanted Mac to learn how to make hollow hairs, because when Devin starts working with him on birds, he'll have to make hollow bones so the birds will be able to fly, and I thought making hairs would be sort of an intermediary step in the process. I hope that answers your question for you. And I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter as well.

    Chapter 35 S1

Then you should do very well on next week's quiz.
  20. Yes, I've never heard this word before, so @Myr you did teach an old dog a new trick.

    Chapter 35 S1

Yes, flying would be difficult, but if you remember Devin turned into a hawk to fly out where he was going to turn into a bigfoot in his freshman year. I think it might be a challenge for Mac. I'm glad that I'm teaching you more about these animals and there will be a quiz after the next chapter.

    Chapter 35 S1

Yes, the porcupines quills are barbed, so they won't come out easily, and Mac and Devin are both young and have a lot to learn, otherwise Gramps and Pops wouldn't be having to save them so often. If you didn't know this, Navajos believe reptiles are evil and won't have anything to do with them. They won't even touch a snakeskin that has been shed. Knowing that, I'm positive they won't be doing anything with reptiles.

    Chapter 35 S1

Oh, it's possible. Who knows what the shaman may come up with. And yes, a couple of the coyotes got more than they reckoned for, so hopefully they learned not to mess with porcupines in the future.
  24. Bill W

    Chapter 35 S1

I believe it was just to see if he could master the quills, because if he could master those he could replicate the fur on any animal. I hope this answerls your question. And who knows, maybe he could replicate the quills while in another form as well and use them as an offensive weapon. Could you imagine a person having quills on his arms and a weapon or weapons in his hands?
  25. Chapter 35 – Porcupines Are Slow When we returned to the hohrahn, I anxiously awaited for the shaman to begin instructing us how to transition into a porcupine. “As you have probably suspected,” the shaman began, “I have saved the most difficult animal for you to transition into until last, and since Devin has admitted that he has not been able to do it successfully, I will work with him as well.” “Aren’t porcupines just another rodent?” I asked Devin. “So, what makes it more
