Mastiffs are among the largest dogs and are generally powerful and loyal canine companions. They are often referred to as gentle giants. They generally have a short coat, large feet, large skull, long low-set tail, and droopy ears. There are many breeds of mastiffs.

Sorry, that was a typo. It was supposed to read surrounded by a tough skin. -

Muskmelons got their name because of the sweet odor of the ripe fruits. Musk is the Persian name for for a type of perfume, and muskmelons are native to Persia (Iran) and other adjacent areas, both east and west of Iran. -

Muskmelons have a sweet, juicy flesh that can be yellow, orange, green, or white, and each is surrounded by a rough skin. -
And don't forget that in some cities and other locations, people also walk around peddling themselves for sex.
-
I think the most common type of peddlers you might see today are drug peddlers, although they are more commonly referred to as pushers.
-
You don't see people peddling door-to-door like in the past, but there are other meaning for the word peddle as well. You can also peddle a bike. And if you want to think of peddle as a noun, there are gas and break peddles on a car, and sometimes a clutch peddle as well.

I think Daddyd is taking orders. He'll send one of these pies to anyone who wants one.
-
Too tell you the truth, I didn't understand any of that, so I don't know. I got in over my head again.
-
Oops, I goofed again. Sorry, Val. And sorry to you too, @Slytherin. Got my wires crossed again.

Great minds think alike, Val, because that would have been my guess as well.

There are also concepts such as lattice energy, lattice degeneration, and lattice multiplication. There is also a lattice structure where the atoms are arranged so they form geometrical points in space in the shape of a lattice.
-
A lattice can be made from either wood or metal, as long as the strips cross to form squares that leave approximately the same size diamond shaped voids between them. A lattice may be used as a screen, a fence, or a support for climbing plants.

Yes, it's very easy to see how the Middle English meaning of the word sot to mean fool would be appropriate, since many drunks actually act like fools or act foolish.
-
sot is generally considered an old fashion word and people who drink too much are more often referred to as a lush or a wino.
-
And don't forget Jesus' parables, such as the Prodigal Son, the Rich man and Lazarus, and the Wise and Foolish Builders.
-
I loved Aesop's Fables, which were merely parables, such as the Fox and the Grapes, and the Tortoise and the Hare. I think that since they featured animals they were more interesting to me when I was a kid.
-
Yes, it would be interesting if the shaman or his son ran across another skinwalker that had migrated to their reservation. And the group was more than surprised that the shaman and arranged for them to meet his son.
-
Not quite that old. I'm only 75.
-
That's a good question and one that even the shaman couldn't answer. Maybe we'll find out as the story progresses, and then again, maybe this question will remain unanswered.
-
To be honest, I spent many, many hours researching all of those things to make sure I had them correct. Writing a story isn't just sitting down at a keyboard and typing, and thank you for noticing. And I might be as old as your great grandmother was when she was doing that as well.

inconceivable - Word of the Day - Tue Nov 7, 2023
Bill W commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
I find it inconceivable that someone wouldn't know the meaning of this word, since it's used so often. -
It's more like a new suit and you wouldn't wear that to somewhere inappropriate.
-
Even though you think someone would never do something, it doesn't hurt to check - just to be sure. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter.
