  1. Abrogate comes from the Latin root rogāre, which means "to propose a law," and ab-, meaning "from" or "away." Proposals aside, there's no abrogating our responsibility to report that rogāre is the root of a number of English words, including prerogative, derogatory, arrogant, surrogate, and interrogate. To abrogate something is to repeal or cancel it, so abrogation is the act of repealing or cancelling. The earliest known use of the adjective abrogate is in the Middle English period (1150—1500). OED's earliest evidence for abrogate is from before 1460, in the writing of Osbern Bokenham, poet and Augustinian friar. abrogate is a borrowing from Latin. Although according to most dictionaries, the first known use of the word "abrogate" in English was around the early 1500s, with the earliest evidence appearing around 1520.
  2. This is a wonderfully imaginative, intriguing, humorous, and enchanting tale that can't help but to bring a smile to your face. The characters are compelling and likeable, it's well-written, and the descriptive prose will keep you captivated until the very end. Do yourself a favor and read this fantastic short story. Believe me, you'll be glad you did.

    Chapter 1

Tim, I loved this imaginative fairy (w/multiple meanings) tale. Everything about it was intriguing - the magic beans, the fairy city below ground, the fairies' names, the fairy witch, your descriptions of everything, but then ending was the best. A revelatiion about bi-sexual fairy with a wife and kids, and with an open relationship where he could bring the bf home to join the family - that was just too much. Thank you for this wonderful and enchanting tale.
  4. Sometimes in life we make rash decisions and later regret them. If we're lucky, there might be a way to correct the situation, while other times the various things that have happened in the interim make reconciliation impossible. It's always nice when we get a second chance at happiness. Gary writes a wonderful story and you can feel the pain and heartache over what happened in the past, and the emotions are very raw. Sometimes returning to the place where the problem began helps you to deal with the past, ocassionally with unexpected results. If you want to find out what I mean by that, then read this excellent short story and find out. I'm sure you'll want to thank me for guiding you in the right direction once you complete it.
  5. It's a shame that it took Caleb and Dalton to reconnect, because I have a feeling that if Caleb had stuck around they would have been a couple about a month after that kiss had taken place. As far as mothers always know, that might be true, but sometimes they can't overcome the brainwashing to believe that being gay is a sin and isn't natural. I wonder if Dalton would have had the strength to break from his mom if he hadn't reconnected with his dad. Having hearing his dad explain why he left might have given Dalton the strength to do the same, if necessary. He left it up to his mom to accept him for who he is, and if she didn't, then he could also leave. Great story, Gary. I really enjoyed it.
  6. Communicating in a relationship is vital, as the characters in this story eventually learned. If it hadn't been for the accident and was transpired afterward, this lesson may never have been learned. Totally thought provoking story.

    Chapter 1

I enjoyed this story and it goes to show why communications in a relationship is so important. If it hadn't been for the accident they might not have talked about this issue, and hopefully it means there's still a chance for Sloan and Tobias to patch things up and start again, with Jeff and Tait as close friends. My only complaint about the story was the physical layout of how it was presented. You either need to indent the first line of each paragraph or leave a blank line between paragraphs. I found it very difficult to read and concentrate on what was being said in the story, and my guess is that I wasn't the only one. Please, just take that into consideration for future stories.
  8. in other words you're saying that reframing = rebranding.

    Chapter 55 S2

I've never considered that question before: is it like a wounded animal seeking help? Or could it be a wounded animal attempting to get close enough to exact revenge? I'm not sure that once a skinwalker becomes evil that it is able to reverse the process. I believe that once they become evil they will remain evil for as long as they're alive. In other words, the leopard (evil skinwalker) cannot change its spots!

I had to do a little research to come up with those names, so I'm glad you approve.

    Chapter 55 S2

That's always something to be concerned about, but since there won't be large numbers involved in this plan, let's hope they do better.

    Chapter 55 S2

The Navajos knew how many original evil skinwalkers there were, but they have no idea if more have been created since. And just kidnapping boys will not turn them into evil skinwalkers unless the evil skinwalker remembers how to perform the ritual to do that and is capable of performing it intelligibly. I'm not sure if their ability to speak might have be affected due to their malformed appearance. We all hope this will go off as planned and there are only be minor glitches in the plan and nothing major.

    Chapter 55 S2

Yes, we're all hoping that this is resolved quickly, because they'll be heading to the cave in the Ozarks just as soon as this is taken care of.

    Chapter 55 S2

That would indeed be an ominous sign, but since they won't be operating on a boat in the ocean, maybe they're safe.

    Chapter 55 S2

We'll collectively cross our fingers and hope for the best, but the best we can hope for is that they can confuse the evil skinwalker long enough that they can carry out their plan. If the evil skinwalker has never seen skinwalkers that can successfully transition into another creature that looks as it's supposed to look, then maybe they have a trump card to play. That's what happened with the first one they killed - it was so distracted ad confused that it didn't notice what was coming.

    Chapter 55 S2

Yes, you win the prize for being first, wen. The shaman and his son have planned very well, but as Robert Burns said in this poem, 'To a Mouse': "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." Or as he wrote it: “The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.” We'll just have to hold our breath and see how it goes.
  17. Chapter 55 – Preparations As soon as the alarm on my phone went off, Devin and I got dressed, grabbed our duffle bags, and headed downstairs to meet up with Gramps. After we all said goodbye to Faith, we went outside, got into Gramp’s SUV, and he drove over to pick up Pops so we could be on our way. Pops greeted us warmly when he got in the SUV. “It’s nice to see you boys again and I hope you had a good time with Mac’s parents.” “Yeah, we did,” I confirmed. “You migh
  18. The word "reframe" comes from the prefix "re-" meaning "again" and the word "frame". The earliest known use of the word "reframe" was in 1592 in a translation by Mary Herbert, Countess of Pembroke. Reframe" means to put something together again, or to fashion something anew. It can also mean to look at, present, or think of something in a new or different way. For example, you might reframe a photograph or reframe a debate. Synonyms for "reframe": reevaluate, reexamine, replan, and rethink. Examples of reframe in a sentence: "She is trying to reframe the debate about the care of vulnerable children". "I reframed the photograph and hung it in our bedroom".
  19. What would you do if you were living next to a strange neighbor? Would you make friends with him or stay far away from him? And how would you react if you discovered someone was after him? Would that change your opinion? This is a cleverly written and imaginative Sci-Fi story that you won't want to miss. It isn't very long and is a quick read, so give it a look, and you will be glad that you did.
  20. An interesting and imaginative story. I loved the transporter system between Alex's house, Simon's house, the safehouse, and the ship. It was a shame that Simon had to watch his mother claim she didn't have a son, since her memory had been erased, but it had to be that way in order to protect her. And since all the government agents had come into contact with the memory shield at Alex or Simon's house, it won't be long before they forget about Alex, Simon, and Sally as well. Let's hope they all find a welcoming home on Alex's planet and they live happily ever after. I hope that's part of a follow-up story, and I can't wait to read what Alex's planet is like. Thanks, Caz, it was a captivating and fun story.
  21. I'm sure that most, if not all of you have heard about conversion therapy camps, and this story tells about one from hell. This story is very dark and maybe a little over the top, but it will definitely evoke a strong emotional reaction as you read about it. By the time you reach the end of the story, you might even have a sliver of hope that things will either improve or this camp will cease to exist.

    Under the Surface

This story was really dark. I've read a lot about conversion therapy camps and they all seem to be dehumanizing and abusive, but not to the degree of physical abuse or the lack of simple conveniences, such as toilets and showers, that you described here. This doesn't mean that there can't be an outlier facility that is similar to the one you envisioned, but if there is or was, I hope someone reported it and the place was shut down. Other than that, I found the story quite riveting.

It appears that we have some very prolific poets. Kudos!
  24. The word euphonious was first used in English in 1774. It comes from the Late Latin word euphōnia, which means "sweetness of voice". Euphonious is an adjective that means something is pleasant to the ear or agreeable in sound. For example, you might describe a voice as euphonious. Euphony was first used in English in themid-15c., from French euphonie, from Late Latin euphonia, from Greek euphonia "sweetness of voice," related to euphonos "well-sounding," from eu- "good" (see eu-) + phone "sound, voice," from PIE root *bha- (2) "to speak, tell, say." It is related to: Euphonic (1782); euphonical (1660s); euphonious (1774).
  25. Elicit comes from Latin elicit- ‘drawn out by trickery or magic’, from the verb elicere, from e- (variant of ex- ) ‘out’ + lacere ‘entice, deceive’ to English in the early 17th century (1600s). According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first known use of the word "elicit" in English was in the early 17th century, with the earliest recorded evidence appearing around 1624 in the writings of Francis White, bishop of Ely.
