Just a quick note to say I love seeing a new story from you, and I'm looking forward to diving in. It may be a couple of weeks since I need to first make it through exams, report cards, and PROM 🙄. Summer cannot come soon enough this year...

Beautiful job, Wayne. Thank you for sharing it with us. "We often don't realize when we have it. It's just there. Like breathing, it's just something natural. But, just like air, we sure know when we don't have it."

I’m very sorry for your loss, Wayne. Please take good care of yourself.

A Knight and His Prince
lucretiaseeks commented on Wayne Gray's story chapter in A Knight and His Prince
I love this so much! Forbidden romance with happily-ever-after is the best thing ever! -
I love Gay Authors and am happy to support all the wonderful work here. I’m primarily a reader who always wishes she could write more. I think I’m about half/half mobile phone vs laptop. I’ve been using the “Listen to Page” feature on my iphone with other websites recently (mostly Substack, I think, but some others) while I walk the dogs or am on the train, etc. It would be amazing to have that option here at GA too. Thank you for all your hard work on our behalf. It’s truly a wonderful community. Happy holidays, all!

House of Cards: Renewal
lucretiaseeks replied to Page Scrawler's topic in Headstall's Paddock's Topics
Very nice. I was shopping online (Taobao) for a heavier winter coat yesterday, but you made me think I should look for boots too. Years ago I had some (maybe North Face?) that had snow gaiters and were super comfortable... -
It’s great you’re familiar with the sailing aspects. I have interest in physics and astronomy, so I loved the parts about navigation. I really enjoyed following Trevor’s journey on google earth and querying images as he went along. I’ve been looking into Perth holidays and maybe sailing trips that would go along the western coast of Australia one day.

This is the final proof that there's no justice in the world.

I share your love and frustration. And I love that you comment sometimes as you read to spark memories in the rest of us. I certainly revisit the CJ stories from time to time to get my fix. Many times in recent months, I have wondered what Carlos would do with our current cast in DC, especially Rubio, and then feel a sense of grief because we'll never know beyond idle speculation. A few weeks back, I dug up the Scalia quote on due process, that “... it is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles [immigrants] to due process of law” (Flores, 1993), and I naturally thought of CJ and Ozzie. Carlos has a measure of immortality through the memories of all the people he has touched here, and, of course, through these wonderful characters he has left for us.

Aloha 😀 Planning a crime spree?

All this yummy food today. I found a recipe for the chicken I may try soon. I'm re-reading the 'Love on the Rocks' series, and there's so much gourmet cooking there (and lots of Aussie dishes I have to look up...). I should try fancier cooking occasionally. Tonight was leftover baked salmon and white rice - nothing special - lemon, salt, pepper.

That looks yummy. Bok choy has been my go-to veggie this year - very affordable here and easy to prepare. I steam it with a little garlic, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar.

These were my mother's favorite songs and my lullabies. I bet I still know all the words. 🥰

Got it - thank you, Albert. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer: "The wheel never stops turning, Buffy. You're up. You're down... It doesn't change what you are, and you are a hell of a woman." ~Riley Finn, S5E3

True, but it's not hard to find much online to give you the general idea. Query Carnarvon, Shark Bay, etc... I really enjoyed following Trevor's voyage on Google Earth.

What is this Wheel of Time? A quick search in Story Title didn't work for me ... TIA.

Same here...I often skip the evil Bridget parts - I will start somewhere in the Indian Ocean and focus on the Trevor/Shane story line.

Chapter 1 A Comet Like No Other
lucretiaseeks commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 1 A Comet Like No Other
Bill - Thank you so much for this moving tribute to Comicality. It was truly beautiful to read the development of your friendship through the exchange of reviews of his work and to understand how he encouraged you to develop your own writing voice. I had the honor of meeting Judy Shepard at an event in Boston for her book, "The Meaning of Matthew." I think she would appreciate knowing that Matthew's life and tragic death were catalysts for your creativity. I have hopes that storytelling is one path toward preserving the stories that some would gleefully erase and ultimately ensure civil liberties continue to expand for our marginalized communities. https://www.matthewshepard.org/the-meaning-of-matthew/ -
Aloha! I have a conference call with a textbook company in Texas...looking for a developmental math curriculum for high school students...so no reading for me yet this evening.

I do! And I end up going down all sorts of rabbit holes, most recently reading about the Batvia and mutiny. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batavia_(1628_ship)

Aloha, Albert. Sorry, I don't ever have too much to say. It's near midnight here in Shanghai, and I have a busy workweek ahead of me - planning a two-day math olympiad for 80 4th and 5th graders at the end of May. Does anyone else have the 'revenge bedtime procrastination'? I was happy to know that the thing I've always done had a real name. I'm re-reading Circumnavigation, skipping the evil Bridget bits. I like to follow the sailing along with Google Earth.

I'm very sorry to see this...I hope you have a speedy recovery. I'll be sending some good thoughts your way. 💙

I really love your new tattoo, Wayne, and the meanings that inspired it. And thank you for educating me about the Social Democrats of 1932 Germany and their votes against the Enabling Act. That’s important to share, I think. It’s hard to stomach that there are no MAGA Senators willing to protect their own constitutional powers.

Truly it is a loss that we don’t have Carlos to help us process all that’s going on - both personally and with the way he would weave it into new stories in CJ’s universe. It’s fun and somehow cathartic to imagine some of the “resistance” CJ, César, and Brett would mount.
