  1. I love these lists, though I don't know when I'll ever find time to read everything that looks good. This one was especially nice because the story from author Rob Colton nudged my memory that I read a wolf story of his some time back and elsewhere, I think. Thank you.
  2. It’s lovely to revisit CJ and Owen’s first meeting.
  3. This is really terrific. Thank you for recommending it!

    Chapter 15

I really enjoyed your story, and I’m happy I found it here. Cal is a unique and realistic character who richly deserves his happily-ever-after with Davey. I like that you avoid resolving Cal’s relationships with his parents in some overly sentimental way. I’m wondering how the story from Davey’s perspective may have been different - which is to say I would welcome more of these characters. Great job.
  5. I am really enjoying the depth we get from JJ’s point-of-view. He’s growing more likable with every scene. Thanks for the great work. After the conclusion of Gap Year, I started the series over. I’m now all caught up again and can wait impatiently. 🤭

    Chapter 8

I think this portrayal of Stefan and Peter is one of the most honest, true-to-life ones I’ve ever read. Stefan is entranced with Peter and fancies himself falling in love. Then he sees a new side of Peter, where he’s letting Jackie Diamond pull his strings. Whiplash quick, Stefan is disillusioned and it’s essentially over. “I needed Peter, and he needed me. I just wasn't sure I wanted him anymore.”

    Chapter 3

I finished “Will” this week and started over. I’ve made it through 1968 barely taking a breath. I know I don’t comment enough, but here I have to mention it - if for no other reason to get it out of my brain. I have never lived in a world where it was OK to have sex without protection. It’s a hard thing to wrap my brain around - I feel like such a voyeur. Stefan is a favorite of mine tho, after Will.

    Chapter 1

Thank you. I have some ideas. I’m more of a reader than a writer, but I hope I can develop these into longer pieces.
  9. I'm only reading one or two of these tributes a day - I just haven't had the bandwidth to manage more, so apologies in advance for only getting to yours today. And if I thought that a little ridiculous, here is why...this brought on tears, especially this line. Well done. I am sure Carlos held you in similar high regard. I appreciate you sharing your letter. "Wherever you are, I hope you are at peace. More likely, you are fighting for a cause! I hope your favourite bike is with you and its tank will always be full as you ride on."
  10. This poem is really terrific, both in structure and content. You've captured some of the themes contained within Carlos' work perfectly. Thanks for writing this.

Thank you so much, Patrick, for saying this. I'll do my best. And welcome to GA.

    Chapter 1

Thank you for writing these. Both are terrific - I especially like King of Cliffs. I've enjoyed reading some of the banter in the comment sections of the CJ stories between Carlos and his readers. He was unapologetic and gleeful if I'm reading them correctly.
  13. This is a very sweet story - nice job!

    Chapter 1

I enjoyed this - the crisp dialogue, riffing on the cast of the CJ stories, the alphabet soup, and the twist at the end - incredibly well done. I think these are my favorite lines: “Books change people, Andi.” “I agree with you, Leo. One hundred percent.”

    Chapter 1

Thank you for saying so, Raven. I appreciate it.
  16. It's a real gift to be able to mix laughter and sorrow so skillfully. Brilliant. Thank you for writing this. It reminds me of times people say, "If it's not true, it should be."

    A Step Beyond

It's a lovely piece, so much emotion in so few carefully selected words. Thank you for writing it.

    Chapter 1

"The bits and pieces of himself left behind in his stories means that we only have to revisit them, to bring him to life." Thank you so much for sharing your personal remembrances in this letter. It's a moving tribute to Carlos and an amazing testament to friendship.

    Chapter 1

That’s a fine compliment - thank you. As I posted elsewhere, I regret that I never reached out to say hello to Carlos. I first read the CJ series this past summer. You always think there’s time. 😔 And yes, please do correct it when you get a chance. I find errors like that distracting when I’m reading a story. 🙏

    Chapter 1

I wonder how to edit? I can make a list of errata here. It should be "Human Rights Campaign", not 'Council'. I knew it was wrong when I typed it - I am the model UN advisor at my school 🙃 https://www.hrc.org/

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the comment and encouragement. This is the first I’ve ever written with original characters. I’d like to do more.

    Chapter 1

Teague & Will On a farm in rural Virginia, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the late fall sun is sinking in the sky. Teague finishes a hot shower where he washed away the rigors of his day. Toweling dry, he slipped into loose gray sweatpants and a well-worn UVa tee. He makes his way down the somewhat narrow back stairway that opens into the large farmhouse kitchen they remodeled three years back. Peeking out the side window, he doesn’t see Will’s truck. Teague knows th
