Politics - They FAFO, we all pay
lucretiaseeks commented on Wayne Gray's blog entry in Colored in Gray
Indeed it’s going to be a long four years. I’ve been preoccupied since the summer with supporting alternative and independent media as much as I possibly can. I think much of our hope lies with voices as diverse as the (primarily) former Republicans at the Bulwark to Brian Tyler Cohen to Tennessee Brando and other Meidas creators. I resolved after November to do something every single day. Mostly that’s involved phone calls and writing to elected representatives and sharing info about people actually doing good work. All of it weighs heavily on me, especially the question of what sort of world we’re leaving for our children. I think it was today that references to climate change were scrubbed from the EPA website. We are going to have to be intentional about saving and archiving information in places outside government control in this post-truth era. (And how insane does it feel to type that?!) -
Thank you for reading!

Thank you for reading, Lee. I didn't come to it myself until middle age. Looking back, it's hard to say how things may have changed one way or another. Maybe that's why I like romance and fiction so much - I can read or write the endings to suit myself...I think that was one of the aspects of Brokeback Mountain that called to me so much - by leaving some ambiguity, there was room for readers to 'finish the story' in their own minds and hearts.

Thank you, Gary. I appreciate you saying so. I've been re-reading CJ this Christmas holiday and noting Carlos' Christmas and New Year plot developments, which were typically substantial...(I'm at Walls now, and they've just returned from Nashville and the Bingham Cup...)

Thank you for reading, Gary! xxoo

Thank you for reading. I think he does...it's the same Adrian from last year's Rapport, and he's doing just fine. But I like romance, so it would be nice to have him happily involved too.

Thank you for reading! I will work on it.

Thank you, Chris. I will work on it!!

Thank you, Bill. I am planning to make it my New Year's resolution.

I think Carlos would have loved this very inventive way to get rid of Stephen. I can actually envision this being the beginning of a movement where all authors try their hands and plotting Stephen's demise. Great job!

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy," It's wonderful to think loved ones who've passed may somehow guide us when we need them. Thank you for writing about potential second chances for happiness and love.

The last traces of evening light reflected off the river’s surface, gentle ripples lapping at the bank. Fourteen-year-old Adrian stood focused on the water, arms jammed into the pockets of his Country Day hoodie, rocking back and forth to shake off the December chill. His mother’s voice would soon cut through the twilight, calling him to get ready for her New Year’s Eve party, but for now, he savored the quiet. School was looming, just days away, and Adrian’s thoughts were not as calm as th

I am humbly submitting a short piece of fiction in memory of Carlos. A lot of my energy in the past year has centered around elections and voting. I have often wished I could chat with him about some of it and get his opinions. I hope he is resting well, secure knowing that work is continuing.

Here I am re-reading about CJ and Owen because that’s one of the things I do. I also perused the comments to see if I’d missed anything. It’s interesting that there’s no reference to Lynne’s homophobic mom. I know Carlos had something in his notes about her for later, but I’m glad she skipped the wedding (or at least was on good enough behavior to not rate a mention).

January Writing Event- Auld Lang Syne - In honor of Carlos Hazday
lucretiaseeks commented on Valkyrie's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I agree it's sad, but you shouldn't let that stop you from commenting. Many follow Carlos' stories still. And I for one, love to chat about them . -
I've seen a similar, but less potentially dangerous , demonstration using UV-light. A quick internet search shows me that something called Glo Germ needs to be applied to hands first. Handwashing demonstrations were all the rage during COVID. My school is still playing one on a loop in one of the corridors.

January Writing Event- Auld Lang Syne - In honor of Carlos Hazday
lucretiaseeks commented on Valkyrie's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Not a day goes by when something in the news makes me think, 'What would Carlos have to say about this?' or 'How would Carlos weave this into a plot?' I love that people new to GA get to find his work for the first time. Thank you to the admin team for remembering him by the January 1 anthologies.
