First time reading your work. I know this story is part of a series, but I couldn’t tell if they were required prior to this story which drew my interest. two chapters in and I’m hooked. Great intro.

Omg LB you had me crying constantly Jack seems almost bipolar type I with a co-morbity of disassociation and major depression. I’m probably way off though. I felt so bad for Nick. Christian is an angel. I feel though that pushing Jack to shower softened the blow of shock for Christian and Jonah. They’ll see it for themselves soon enough. I am genuinely scared for Jack and Nick.

This was a very good chapter. Communication is key to ANY struggle or disagreement. Trace was magnificent on their “tour” giving Joel the opportunity to vent and prodding him juuuuuust enough to get him to start. How emotional Trace got on that ride was..touching. It was also revealing in that it showed the reader just how important Joel is to him. I hope Joel saw that. It was also very revealing how Joel and Dav had that disagreement in the driveway. Both said what they needed to say. Both listened and heard what the other needed to say. Both didn’t react angrily at the other’s comment which shows a lot of maturity for both. It shows they value each other’s opinions very much. They click more than either realize. Speaking of maturity there was a lot of that shown by lacy. Sure she was frustrated. But she didn’t have an all out tirade either. Bravo to her. Joel just needs to stop giving himself more options to worry about and force himself to be committed to Fletcher and start over. I think Davin is right. Joel just needs to be convinced and Dav is the boy to do it..

I wanted to cry with Nick. I felt that soo much. Great writing here. That terrified feeling of …being abandoned is such an overwhelming emotion. I’m not sure if Jack is bipolar but it’s tracking that way. The fact Nick never noticed his scars on his wrists confuse me greatly. Unless they’re new. god I hope he didn’t cut his wrists DOWN his arm. That’s how you do it. It shreds the artery lengthwise not just a cut across. Going across just mostly cuts tendons. Sigh… poor Jack. Poor Nick. I beside myself with the overwhelming spent feeling of adrenaline.

Skipping the comments to drop mine before I lose my thought.. literally I was like what the fuck when Jack started in. Nick’s mom helped me think and agreed she was probably right. Then with the second kitchen scene, as soon as the broken glass was mentioned I immediately went worse case scenario no no no no no ! Then I started in my head trying to assess (because the medic in me will never retire) and Jack’s mom took control.. that’s something that needs to be studied. How ppl can turn off emotions and take charge like that. Also, Tommy is great. Dude great emotional chapter

He ( Joel) hasn’t really allowed himself to trust anyone especially since things went south at home. The very people he SHOULD be able to trust with every and anything not only turned him away but outed his deepests secrets. The ONLY one of his family is the kid brother and he’s been removed from seeing Joel so yeah he’s kinda of gone too. Someone needs to intercede with this kid and fast.

Tough spot for Joel to be. I appreciate his recognition of the nostalgic memories that a team builds over time that cannot be made without putting in the time and effort for them to be made. Sure, they can make a team better but he’s throwing the opportunity to make new friends and moments away by literally running away again. Joel’s anxiety is in control right now and that’s not good. While the support and love and patience are plentiful with Trace and Celia, this is also something he’s running from to and he’s only making things worse for himself. Frankly, he needs a good therapist to help him learn how to take his emotions back from his anxiety much more than is realized by Trace and Celia. That’s the one thing I think they missed with him but time got away and Joel needs to be interacted with very carefully. It really hasn’t been all that long since Trace found him on the bridge. Building trust takes time. Maybe taking off like that means Joel will bump into a new character who can provide a better perspective for Joel and can help him get a better handle on dealing with his emotions and maybe convince Joel to give this new start a fair chance.

Witty that Joey’s little cheek pda is going to come back and cause problems for the Judge’s governor run. Also, not everyone on the team is happy about Andy’s potential return. That is concerning. I don’t think Andy is as entirely safe like he thinks.

Definitely surviving his donors. They aren’t parents however. They don’t deserve that title.

Loved the closure of this year. Yes Nick needs therapy not just pills. That anxiety will fester like a cavity otherwise. Wait, I thought Tommy was gay? I could’ve sworn he said something about “I wish you had told me sooner” as if before Nick went to private school and was attracted to Nick. I’m confused again. Anyway, bring on summer.

So is Medellin part of the SFTF canon or no? For the longest time in previous comments i thought it was but now im not so sure.

That’s the healthiest response. But comparing years of abuse to a newish boyfriend being hit on very aggressively imo, is apples to oranges.
-
That’s a good point. I just know this is the second time Jonah has made this apology and has a very poor understanding of boundaries as he tends to waltz all over them, especially Nick’s more than anybody’s
-
Also, it is good Olly realized he crossed the line.

This is what happens when you’re reading when I should be sleeping 😂

Idk about Greg. Maybe.

Yes the differences between Matt’s reciprocation and Dec’s is great.
-
Omg that was hot.
-
That’s more than they deserve truly

Well that’s why I wanted to scream my first sentence at them. Poor Jack doesn’t deserve to be treated this way. No child does.

I agree that there might be more to Grant that he’s yet to disclose. He didn’t correct Ollie when Ollie said he’s obviously straight but he did act as if he wanted to but was afraid. I’m surprised Ollie didn’t get pissed at Dec for telling Grant what they did. I sure would’ve. It just goes to further back up both of our suspicions about Dec. Grant’s concern about Ollie’s emotional state tells more to me than was actually said. For someone who on the outside seems very, emotionally objective and analytical, that’s a big shift for Grant. Like, he actually cares about and for Ollie but is too socially awkward to say it. For Ollie to offer some opportunities for some experience gaining activities is big but I feel like Ollie should’ve just kissed him in thanks for checking on him 😂
-
Yes I tried soo hard to ignore that and just not address it but…sigh… it really makes me think “wtf is wrong with you?!” to them. Like, seriously can you be any more heartless?! Way to completely destroy a child’s soul! Fuck. 😭
-
Back then I think he was just caught off guard. Maybe still too new to things but now that he’s had a taste so to speak…but I get what you’re saying and I can see how you’d think that
-
Yeah he comes off as a pretty selfish dude looking to please himself and probably bi but generally sticks to chicks but won’t think twice if a guy puts out. Pushy. Ugh. Yeah no thx
