Bravo for Torrey coming out and sharing how he feels about Kevin. Kevin didn’t react well but I understand. The way Sarah treated him by lying was typical but kudos to her for apologizing. Now kevin needs to do the same to Torry. The Father/Son relationship is kinda odd.

Nope. Bradd is controlling and used to getting what he wants and how he’s handling Keith is wrong. Keith recognizes he is giving mixed signals to Bradd and that’s a tough spot to be in. You can’t rush decisions like that. I feel like Bradd is missing the fact that Keith has already lied to him and he caught in it and didn’t apologize. Bradd needs to move on from Keith. I feel like things are gonna go completely out of control and everyone will get hurt and it’ll be Bradd’s fault. Patrick and Amy have already picked up odd behavior from both of them already. Bradd is taking everyone for granted here and it’s gonna bite him in the ass. As for Earl, something is definitely up with his behavior towards both Bradd and Keith. The previously mentioned theories on what they could be definetly could be what’s going on. I am curious though why Keith didn’t want Bradd over to help watch the kid. That was never addressed. Nor was the vibe of the house once Amy and her parents returned. What feel did it change to? There’s a few things off alone in that house and I wonder if Keith is lying about Amy’s parents’ approval of Keith. Yes Keith needs to grow a pair and a spine but his whole behavior doesn’t fit

Kudos to Tyler for addressing Dwight with class. Personally, I would’ve pushed him verbally enough to make Dwight swing first. I’m not buying Tyler’s mom’s change of heart just yet. Tyler’s zing to her was on point. She’s too much in Dwight’s camp on not accepting Tyler’s choice. I am curious to know more about the Hispanic family at the funeral however.

The humbling convo the boys had the day before seems to have woken something in Tyler. His backbone going a bit more PDA just before is a surprise admittedly but a good one I think..though I’m still not sold on the change. Tyler, to his credit, even had a brief imagined thought at what it must be like for Rufus to share a room with his brother. The next chapter will be interesting

Of course as I say that, I was a socially awkward type like Rufus at that age and the target of an abuser athlete older student too. I didn’t know any better or wouldn’t have listened either. 😞

It took a bit but I recognize now who Tyler is. The spoiled yet confidently affable kid who’s used to getting his way with zero concept of how he sounds to others. He’s a complete stuck up ass to Rufus in school and frankly, if I were Rufus, at that age, I’d call him out. Tyler forgets HE is the one who sought Rufus’s partnership regardless if there was more false pretenses. Speaking of those false pretenses, the writer does a good job at portraying Tyler as a little narcissistic ass complete with the delayed realization of his behavior towards Rufus. His apology felt canned. Rufus sweetie, can this project and ditch this douche bag. You’re too good for him.

Ok this chapter is ended very well. However, I want to focus on mom’s behavior in the beginning. First off whoa how many times does he have to tell her she’s gone way too far? That conversation would’ve ended in a shouting match and undoubtedly a panic attack for me. She completely continued to press not respecting his requests at all.

Sigh .. good chapter. Glad it was brief. I say that bc I’ve been there in James’ spot except I didn’t have that friend in Jackie. Or Roy for that matter. My parents didn’t find out. But I was captivated by a hottie of an athlete in high school that the popular crowd loved and enabled. Unfortunately, he got his way😔

Ok I’m enjoying this so far I can definitely relate to James’s experience with a teacher who uses embarrassment to assert dominance and control. I’m assuming he and Jackie are Sophomores? So 14-15yo? I grew up in my teens in the 90’s so things weren’t so violent with regards to the removed part. To me however, intimidation and embarrassment are still a mild form of abuse just harder to prove. 5 days is pretty stiff for telling a teacher to shut up in my day. It would warrant a hefty extra curricular assignment you don’t get credit for. Especially for a first offense. I had classmates at this age flip teachers off and walk out. I have no doubt punishment was issued later I think.

Some of you've seen some of my comments on my trauma. C-ptsd. C for Complex. It means multiple events or similar ones over a long period of time like domestic abuse, parental abuse, what have you. I’m a decent Shinedown fan and of Brent Smith’s solo work and this song I’ve heard a few times since they released it but I never really gave it a hard listen until tonight. Checking out the official video it reminds me of when I was ..heh..well I wasn’t doing very well and could’ve really benefited from a few hugs and then some for sure. Kinda like the girl in the video. I post this because I know a lot of us suffered with abuse and a lot more of us suffer still at our own abuse from our own thoughts. Having been someone who tried to quit life once as a suicide survivor, please hear me now. Breathe. It’ll be ok. It may not all work out the way we want or intended but it’ll be ok. Take one day at a time. Don’t force too high of expectations onto yourself. You’re setting yourself up for something you might not handle very well so lower the bar. Take your time, sightsee on this journey. LIVE. There’s no rushing life when you take the time to enjoy it. You’re worth it. Love yourself. You’re gonna be ok.
