You’re fine. Both parents are piss poor in their roles to their kids. Might be why Daniel and his father are often at odds. Sue might be aware of Robbie’s orientation but might be completely oblivious too. After all I would’ve expected her to be a helicopter mother over Nicola and HER sexual escapades but she’s obviously absent about it. Perhaps that bothers Daniel too. To me, both parents treat their kids as crotch trophies to flaunt for their own social gain. Despicable

First initial thoughts and then I’ll return to read the commentary. Robbie, it’s good you finally realized on the quick you fucked up. But, I get the feeling Rory wasn’t entirely honest with you. I think he’s just more insecure about WHAT he is be it straight, bi, or gay. I think, from what we’ve seen so far, Nathan is the only openly gay boy at school and is a bit more effeminate than most boys so that creates an easy stereotype for the everyone else to peg how all gay boys are. We know this to not be the case of course. We don’t know if there’s any Blue Oyster Bars ie: Police Academy type gay men in town that these kids might see. If you ask me, I think Rory is a bit of a late bloomer. Sure he’s cute and tender hearted and clearly he cares for Robbie given his reactions to some of the comments Robbie made and Rory DEFINITELY held back. Robbie was right to call Rory’s bluff saying what Rory didn’t say mattered to him. However, I think Robbie completely struck out whiffing pathetically at the open softball opportunities to show his softer side to Rory. If he had at least done so, especially at that moment, perhaps Rory might have opened up a little more with an “idk” or I’m not sure. I think, if I had to guess, Rory had feelings towards Robbie but doesn’t know how to handle them or what to think about them yet let alone share them with Robbie. Good chapter. Robbie has LOTS to learn on interacting with people yet on touchy topics especially. He was honest sure. I don’t think necessarily he was allowing himself to show his own nervousness to Rory. I think that might’ve gone a lot further.

As for Daniel as well as Rory, sigh….Robbie needs to at least be forthright with Daniel and come clean. There’ve been a few comments from Daniel that he suspects Robbie’s orientation is at least Bi. How he feels about that however is misleading. I get why Robbie’s holding back but he needs Daniel as an ally. As for Rory, that conversation was an interesting one. It seems like Rory was at least interested in Robbie but since he’s at least heard it from SOMEONE he apparently knows with connections to the drama club that has seen Robbie and Nathan being much less guarded (I mean did they not think word wouldn’t spread from there?). Perhaps Daniel does too and anyway, Rory seems to really have taken serious affection to Robbie and I think he’s just too inexperienced to know how to approach him. Then when he hears of Robbie and Nathan…he’s naturally heartbroken. I feel bad for Rory.

The threat and danger Alex poses to Robbie are much more serious than a beat down. Take the beat down before he finds out who Nathan is to him and HE gets hurt. Make sure it’s public and he gets arrested and there’s witnesses. That’d be what I’d do.

Robbie was smart to steer clear of Alex. Alex is NOTHING but trouble in waiting. It was also great to see Robbie stand up for Amy. She’s so sweet and precious. I get Daniel’s frustration but it wasn’t her fault to receive it. There is something brewing me thinks between Daniel and his father and worry somehow soon that it’s reach it’s max and somehow it’ll rope Robbie in the middle of it. Same goes for Nicola and Robbie. Sure they’ve got their battles but those are mere skirmishes. Nicola, I think, doesn’t even know what she wants exactly yet from Robbie but whatever it is, it’s something she can’t have and perhaps it’s just not knowing him as the friend and brother he could be for her as an ally. They’d be a force to recon with I think if they could just find common ground. Good chapter

Agreed. Granted I’m barely into my first cup of coffee at that time of day. Any such nonsense at that decibel would be stomped out immediately. No. I am not a morning person 😂. The fit Liam threw hints and some serious drama between him and his dad. There’s something that hasn’t been disclosed there but I’m going to guess it will be soon. My first thought that that new child in the pic Mike found was him but I don’t think he’s a 1/2 brother by way of Liam’s father. I get the feeling the moms are childhood bffs from yesterday year and the pic was taken after Mike’s father is no longer around. Or, it could be that Liam was a twin and only he survived. I’m sure the details will surface especially since Mike kept that pic. I think him spilling the beans to his mom on their upcoming visit is well timed. I think the next couple chapters are going to be some hard ones and Mike is going to have to serious growing up. He’s gonna need Liam’s support .

JamesSavik is spot on here. The boys don’t want to drive Zack to do the unthinkable with his propensity emotionally drastic move. That’s my thinking anyway. Because, what if they do get an adult involved and before the cops come his father lays a beat down on both Zack and his mom so bad it drives Zack into the suicidal route. Let’s face it, Zack is already suicidal but going through with it is something he’d only be able to do during a panic attack which have been happening more a more lately. He has to be handled carefully in this situation. I know bc I was that person. Intervention is tricky at best

Yes and no. Adam knows Brody and Zack have a thing. He has to because he knows Zack too well and he’s too smart not to play that card forcing Zack to face the music. Secretly I think Brody has been talking to Adam. He might not have spilled the beans but Adam has both sides and can do simple math.

Sigh….dammit Zack…Adam loves you just as much as Brody and you don’t even see it. In a different way he loves you but he loves you still. He loves you because he feels he knows you well enough to call out your shit and trust me, he didn’t buy that nothing going between Brody and I bullshit for one second and you know it. You hate yourself for lying to everyone but the one person you lie to the most and the deepest is yourself. Sweetheart stop.

Second time through this story…oh Com… you are a hero to countless of us. Whether you knew it or not. You’re missed so much

Yes he was and the world is sadder place now. It hardly seems fair after what he has been through to survive himself only to succumb to illness as he did. I honestly felt he’s the only person I’ve ever “met” who I can’t say truly gets “it”. What it’s like to war with yourself inside your own head like this and lose badly, so badly you convinced yourself you won. I know there’s many other people out there, many here that do but Com had that “it” that made him stand out above everyone else.

Also, this conversation between Brody and Zack is such a mature and binding one in their relationship. It’s a bond building one. Brody is such a strong leader and really is an angel to Zack. For that matter so is Adam. Zack deserves a lot and he’s finally allowing himself just a peak of what hard looks like and doing so has helped his perception of himself flip which is crucial because at this point the kid is borderline suicidal.

IMO it’s Comsi‘s best work even better than GFD because it is biographical sorta. Unfortunately Comsie passed before completing GFD bc it’s truly a great story, it isn’t THIS. It’s hard to explain what I’m trying to say. He’s done others that are a damn near close to it complete with spin off stories of his friends but this one, this one stands by itself. Even GFD can’t do that.

I.. I dunno if I can do that. We’ve talked in dm a lot about this. Even though my therapist calls me “healed”…at least to the point of needing therapy and true hour and a half sessions weekly, or even monthly, even doing what Comsie did and create fictional characters to tell my story and dialogue and all that…no wonder it took years to write this. What an intimidating task much less fight through the flashbacks and night terrors that will undoubtedly return with a vengeance were I ever to try. Sure, it’d be therapeutic in the end I’m sure..but at the risk of sounding like Zack.. “I’m ok, I’m good seriously..(sniff)”

I forgot about this chapter as I am revisiting this story in remembrance of Comsie. Zack had me in tears at the end. He sees but he doesn’t see what telling Brody everything would do. He sees the negative and danger he could face because Brody would definitely march right through that back door and stand up to Zack’s father but not before he’s called the cops on his ass. This naturally wouldn’t go over so well with Zack as Zack would absolutely freak out in an effort to protect Brody as well as his own mother. What Zack doesn’t see is the positive side and chance at ending the abuse altogether. What had me in tears is how, looking back at my own story of abuse, I realized not for the first time, that I didn’t have a Brody. Oh how life would’ve been so different for me. I grieved a bit for both myself and for Comicality for what we’ve been through and I trust he’s found his peace and sunrise. I know he has.

Rereading this story after Comsi’s passing (😔) i find myself focusing on the characters more. Last chapter mom is beginning to notice subtle signs from Zach something is amiss and tbh, the timeline of her picking up the signs seems good. Brody is missing them and yeah it’s expected because he doesn’t really know Zack yet and he’s also young and inexperienced in such things but at the same time, Zack is struggling to maintain the illusion and Brody notices that most. He fails to act on them which is unfortunate. Only someone who’s been through abuse or is trained to know what to look for can do that well. I’m not criticizing here, just commenting that it’s noticeable and to a compliment to Comicality, he’s got it down perfectly.

Absolutely there’s a parallel between Zack and Brody and Justin and Taryn.

This is my second read of this story. Now I’m reading it again in remembrance of Comie. I’m still not accepting his passing very well and I know what he’d say to that. He’d say that death is part of life and that it was his time. The he would be right. But I know none of us have to ever like it. Having been the victim of a sexual and narcissistic abuse that included physical abuse as well, I know unfortunately all too well what that shit feels like. I applaud is drive to bring light to others. He certainly did me. This chapter is a mixed bag of emotions for me. I wanted to shove that PlayStation where the sun doesn’t shine and a whole more. Brody is adorable. Zach is too
