    Detective Gennaro Saggio was happy he had Christmas off. The trade-off was that he needed to work New Year’s Day. Nothing really wrong with that, New Year’s Day is typically quiet from a major crime perspective. He settled in at his desk to catch up on some long overdue paperwork.     We return to Orono, Maine, where Detective Gennaro Saggio makes another appearance. This time, the killer is even harder to track down than was Parker Toliver, she of ‘The Fascinator Murders.’ Detective Gennaro Saggio’s first email of the new year announces a murder. Curiously, it is signed OOOI. The victim was a suspected arsonist, found dead in an abandoned warehouse. A suicide note was present, but the victim was handcuffed in a closed and chained tanning bed. The victim had previously been arrested, tried, and acquitted of first-degree murder, and arson. Apparently, someone didn’t believe he was innocent.

    Quite the long haul. My goof. I looked up blast phase, saw how few there were. Any Leukemia, 3500-4000 new cases a year for children in the US alone. So, yeah, it’s reasonable she would have encountered some. Just blast phase is probably 250-300 total in the US. Definitely possible to not encounter one until her fellowship.

    Interesting trip, sounds like it would be fun. Maybe you can add an opening and closing and use it as a ‘Creature Feature’ for the Carlos Hazday tribute. 😃

    There was a little humor in 'Heckle Me Not (Lest Ye Die)', and another comedic entry, 'Quack, Quack' which came later. This was my first real foray into the comedy genre. Thank you for the praise and I'm glad you appreciated it.

    Since I don't know what the timing for posts to Auld Lang Syne - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday, I decided to publish chapter 3 tomorrow, to avoid any potential timing conflicts. I'm sure you're all tremendously upset about that.
