Everyone knows duct tape has hundreds of uses. But what happens when one of those uses is quite unconventional?

Well, I made it to the end. I still don’t agree with the senseless murder of thousands of young boys that existed at one point in time. I have to share my idea of how this whole story works for me. Mithras is a hologram generated by some unknown but powerful entity that is the embodiment of evil. Any of the dead that return are also holograms. This entity long ago discovered it could manipulate the poor, simple Gnos, feeding its insatiable desire to cause death. It also realized it couldn’t just let them die en mas as it controlled the atmosphere, weather, ability of the soil to produce crops, etc. So, it came up with the sacrifice idea. When the communities got large enough, it sent down its false goddess to instruct the occupants to create a new village, which in turn would need to provide its own yearly sacrifice. I still can’t figure out the two captains. What happened to Jameson’s ship? Or is that saved for a sequel?

That’s easy, Mithras’ controller will open a hole beneath the shuttle and it will be buried forever beneath the surface of the planet. They can’t afford to have 12 new colonists throw a monkey wrench into the works. The 12 are as good as dead as Peter and James’ hologram sources are.

So a thousand years dead boy and a 60 or so years dead, show up to save the day? Got it. Seriously though, it’s been Captain Reynolds. Now it’s Jameson. Are there two ships out there?

Depends on your perspective. Personally, I believe whatever is fabricating Mithras, is evil.

Is a war coming, maybe? Earth’s technology vs. the Gnos and settlers because the new arrivals will have no idea there is possibly some other entity involved?

And probably doesn’t care one iota. Just wants her prize. Otherwise a tame chapter. Not looking forward to the next lottery.

Me neither. I’d stopped many years ago early in what will be chapter 4 here. I hope I can keep it going to a satisfactory conclusion.
