In the last 10 years the Catholic education system has become more doctrinaire and more insistent that their teachers "follow Catholic teachings". I know a young teacher who was happily living with his girlfriend when he applied for a job in a Catholic high school. After his interview he announced simultaneously that he got the job and was getting married. People who knew him weren't surprised about him getting the job, but were about him getting married. Over that time the Catholic education system has also led the opposition to anti-discrimination legislation that would ban church schools sacking gay and lesbian teachers and expelling gay and lesbian students.

A great start to this story with an early introduction to some of the characters. I like it. A gay teacher in a catholic high school. In what era is this story set?

As I understand it the rules for intrafamily adoption are different and, under certain conditions, allow an older brother to adopt a younger brother. Some of those conditions could prevent Daniel adopting Joshua at this time. The NSW Supreme Court needs to approve the application for adoption.

Going on safari carries the connotations of going into the wilderness, facing life changing challenges and returning a better person. Norm certainly experienced a wilderness in terms of eating tinned food and sleeping in the back of the truck in Nature Preservations. No indication of how they would wash themselves and even less their clothes. Anyway the safari works its magic and he returns a new man who restocks the closet, from which he has emerged, to reflect his now socially open gayness. After a stumbling start he realises the importance of a romantically monogamously relationship and embraces it. An excellent heartwarming conclusion. I want to know about Vic. He helped Norm find HEA and I hope he has helped himself find a true lasting love. Come on @chris191070, another, I hope, heartwarming story about Vic.

I'm confused. I've looked at my rating for my current story and it seems to suggest that it is less like stories that I've rated as liking. I don't get a chance to rate my own stories but I do like them. Yes OK, I know what you're thinking, but still. I like a wide range of genres. Does this reduce a rating score for a particular genre?

As @Bill W has pointed out we tend to be condescending towards people who are condescending. Now I'm going to go a bit weird here. Should there be a particular word for being condescending towards a person who is condescending? This could expand to should we have a word for being a bully to bullies, an artist who paints artists or a person who comments on comments. Nah that's getting far too weird.

This episode took place at night, in the dark, but Lyn is also still in the dark about what is happening. He is refusing to let go of his preconceived beliefs and opinions to the point where he isn't seeing the present. A great, entertaining chapter.

Not the best meeting between Jamie and Hearst, but both still experienced the effect of their affection (love) for each other. So Jamie is organising his "little army" to go to "war against the scumbags" without knowing that while Hearst is on the other side, he is still on Jamie's side. This should be good!

The relationship between infidelity and religious belief couldn't be clearer than in the word infidel which has and is used to refer to an adherent to a religion other than one's own. While we are all familiar with infidelity referring to being sexually unfaithful, I've never heard of an adulterous partner being called an infidel. Maybe I could start a trend. Now where do I find an unfaithful partner? Hmmm 💔
