This chapter shows goodness in the midst of evil. We all hope that goodness will not only win this battle but also help to heal. Olivier is inside the farm and filled with outrage at what he and the other boys are enduring. His conviction to do something about it should be important when the FBI move on the farm.

Restoring the Teddy to its rightful place in recognition that it was a catalyst for their first bonding, even if it took years for real bonding to occur. The ony thing missing in this epilogue is Ben. Oh wait, he's dating. Thanks for a charming Christmas story.

Thank you @Bill W for opening another line of discovery. I admit I've often wondered why the British currency was, until recently, referred to as sterling and never followed up to find out why, although again the pound was called a pound not a sliver or a sterling. The whole currency, not just the pound was referred to as sterling because originally it was backed up by silver which then was used for international trade. Only later did countries establish the gold standard and Britain join. While regarding the word of the day, we now have the question of coins (or currency) which are named after a weight. Pound is obviously one. Are there any others, including in other languages and cultures?

Thank you for commenting @Summerabbacat but I do have to tell you that the "spooky coincidences" in this story were written before @Ticklishboy30 started his rib tickling Christmas story. Just not published. Yes the house is in one of those locations. As for the stock in the risotto. Just go for white wine.

I totally agree with you @Bill W and it all comes back to a nickel referring to a specific coin of specific value and nickel also being the name of a metal. Dime and the other examples are the names of coins but not also the names of metals. For me copper to refer to a coin of a specific value is contentious and I suspect that is because I live outside of US where copper was used to mint a number of low value coins. As a result copper did not attach to specific coin value. (Although it did refer to a policeman). I'll accept that it did in US. So far two examples. I am still looking to fellow bloggers for help in finding if there are other examples.

When I saw this word of the day I thought of the mineral but also the American coin, the nickel. Then I wondered how many coins and their value are referred to purely by the name of a metal. The nickel refers to a specific coin with a specific value. I thought of copper being used to refer to a penny but it's not as specific as a nickel and can refer to a number of different value coins. The same with silver dollar because the coin's value has to be added. It's not just called a silver. In the end I couldn't think of another example. How about this blog's collective wisdom. Does anyone else have an example to share?

I am in awe of how many coincidences you were able to weave into the colourful Christmas themed fabric of this story. Each one added to the extended family's loving interaction and bonding. Wonderful stuff.

I agree that this story is getting better and better. So Rizzo was never part of the mob he fantasized about leading. He was just involved in shaking down what he, and couple of corrupt cops, saw as small time crims. How was he to know that Charles Miller was much more. That he was the Ace of Spades. Did Charles Miller disclosed that little fact to the police or FBI. Is there still enough time to save the children at the farm? Understandably, the emotional ripples from abuse are spreading through those working to prevent abuse and seek justice.

As promised Pawn has returned from the wilderness having grown into a natural leader of men. A less impetuous, stronger and more in command leader than this father, King. Pawn likens Bishop to the fish they caught who struggles before being reeled in. The fish is caught, admired and released which could mean that once Bishop is reeled in by Pawn he will be “admired” and “released”. If so what would “released” mean for Bishop? Release, turning his obsession over Pawn into something else? Release from King? Release from his life behind the barred gates of the Florida house? Release into a life where he can be led to be himself? Or. . . . .? Another amazing chapter in this excellent story. I am really looking forward to the next chapter.

Another charming family bonding chapter. The costume and music selection was just the best fun way to spend Christmas eve. This extended family is just meant to be together.

An excellent, enjoyable piece of writing. For me But it is impossible to ignore this item. It takes me away. It lets me take you away was the clue I needed to identify your laptop. Then the rest fell into place; your study and your library. But then I'm writing this on my laptop in my study surrounded by my books.

Matt and Jacob are definitely developing as a very happy couple. Loved that Matt was able to show Jacob around his home town and provide some insight into his growing up. Matt's family are so supportive. Let's hope the trip to Southern Minnesota will not be too dangerous and the search for the American Ahnenerbe is successful and helpful.

A fitting ending for this story, The police dealing with a couple of local nasty criminals. Evidence that our friends have a lot of support in the town; certainly more than they ever thought. Their love for their partners and their friends enriched. Tony getting his act together and looking towards his future. Thank you @Mark Ponyboy Peters for this delightful, incidence filled story.
