This series has to be one of my faves of your writings and OMF... the sausages, blanket, etc. were hysterical. Laughing so hard I actually cried. Funny the things individuals get up to in the interest of exploration. Have heard many things but frozen sausages were a new one. LOL Sad the ending but not unexpected.
Excellent addition to the story. Bravo!
Been there both sides of the coin as survivor and professional and must say you were right on with depictions and reactions from both young men. Saddens me to hear he or they should have... whatever was the reference. Others can't know unless they or someone they truly care for has been there. Excellent storytelling and appreciate too the delicate approach.
Agreeing with Wyot as well as SilentandBroken, enjoyed the song and hope you can give yourself more credit. Meanwhile, looking forward to seeing what happens with the infamous jacket. LOL
Lastly, want to acknowledge and give thumbs up for your response regarding how those subjected to abuse react. Always a relief when seeing someone gets it.
Great story! I'm confused about one thing though, in this chapter it states, "The young baker’s place was quite small - it consisted of one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, a small pantry and a dining room combined with the kitchen." However, before there were two bedrooms when Zara was staying with her son, right?
An incredible story and honestly, I prefer this, the original, ending. Well done!
Have to add though that it hurts to think an author feels skewered having written not only so beautifully but realistically.
All too real for so many. Well done.
How does one cope? One day, one hour, one minute at a time and when even that is too much time to take a deep breath and survive each second.
Interesting story particularly with the first offered ending. Art, at its best, elicits strong emotions, which can be clearly seen by the reactions. Good job
What a magnificent story! Everything is there from characters first smitten, suspense, action, humor.... and one cannot miss the adorable pooches and puppy kisses. Kbois is a fantastic author and this, IMHO, is one of her absolute best.
Gut wrenching is the descriptive that comes to mind. The pain and anguish that results from abuse leave behind scars within the soul. Being a survivor, I was doing well until the final line, "The phone rang." That's when nausea kicked in. Art in its truest form connects with emotions. Obviously, from all the comments this story certainly did. Well-done and thank you for sharing!
