  1. That's actually quite common. They call it Stockholm syndrome. It is not at all unusual for a person to fall in love with a perpetrator. Eventually the victim sees a system of rewards and wants to please the perpetrator. I can be to the point where the victim will kill for him or her.
  2. I wish the US would have British series on TV. The ones I have seen, I like. They seem to be more open to my particular sense of humour. I would love to watch the show and find out what it's all about. I'm sure I'd like it.
  3. Well, if he's unfashionconcious, his character, Jerry, is unconvincing to say the least.
  4. As usual, your solution reigns supreme. I happen to be working on my degree. As soon as I'm finished or close to being finished, I'm leaving this sleepy redneck town for greener pastures. It's not so much that people attack me personally. The biggest issue I have is the racism around here. It makes me sick to think that people use racial slurs like there's nothing wrong with them. Yes, I'm a little but that's one thing that irks me about Small Town USA.
  5. I hope that they don't kick you out. I can understand why they might not wanting you discussing it with the troops, but they take it to an extreme if they find out for any reason at all. I don't understand why they are so closed-minded. Once again, I'm reminded why we need more anti-discrimination laws in the United States.
  6. Good luck, BK. I know you will do well. Hopefully, you'll find lots of cool gay friends at uni.
  7. I still think part of the reason might be revenge for his son. I still think he has something to do with it, but he has yet to come out of the woodwork.
  8. I am glad to know that you meant that in jest. Just as we don't want to be stereotype, we should not stereotype straights. There are the redneck gay basher types, but they don't represent all heteros. Exactly Sacha. If he were serious, I would strongly disagree with him. I have a lot straight friends. If they were boring people, I wouldn't hang out with them at all.
  9. Sacha and I do play nice. We just love to tease each other. He might think I were mad at him if I didn't.
  10. It's becoming quite obvious that The Scar is trying to kill them. I still haven't figured out what the nukes have to do with it or if the nukes are a separate issue all together.
  11. You're not the only one.
  12. I have DSL, but it is not all that fast, maybe 120 kb/s.
  13. It's most unfortunate, by I have the same defect.
  14. There most certainly should be. Lawmakers have tried to pass such laws, but they always seem to fail. This is an outrage, a clear example of discrimination based upon sexual orientation.
  15. At some point, you have to come clean. I live in the bible belt, but I don't think I have to worry about threats and/or vandalism. Insults are universal. There are rude people in all areas, including the liberal ones.
  16. I doubt this rivalry will ever end. Keep in mind that it is a friendly one... kind of like ours.
  17. I fall into the Heinz 57 category. There's some German, UK (all 4 regions), Dutch, and Native American. Most importanly, I am an American!
  18. We all have flaws. If we didn't, we would not be human.
  19. Those are the ones I call "straight but not narrow". They're certainly easier to get along with.
  20. I seem to remember hearing that you have a quick temper of your own.
  21. I've said all along that your were too nice about it.
  22. That is an awesome quote. That is one to always remember. It is most certainly appropriate for Valentine's Day. Thanks for the quote, Jan.
  23. I hope I never have that bad of a day at the office. Nukes are so unfashionable.

    Where to start

Ultimately, I quit cold turkey, but I started with the patch. I quit much sooner than it suggested. I won't lie. I still have times where I would like one. Good luck on quitting though. And yes, I will write a paper on GLBT in Cultural Diversity if I have one open enough to do so.
  25. I decided to start my blog tonight. There's not much going on here. I just finished a block of my classes which means that I am starting two new classes, Cultural Diversity and Environmental Science. I already have a problem with Cultural Diversity. I realize that there are other groups with struggles in the past and present, but nothing in the syllabus suggests that this course discusses the GLBT community at all. I do not like that at all. In other news, I'm still working on Chapter 10 of Dark Earth: The Prophecy. This chapter is not progressing as quickly as I would like. I'll write about a half of a page and then stop. Then, I come back later and start typing away. Posting a chapter per week would be impossible with this story, unless I had chapters already written in advance. It has been over a week since I've had a cigarette. I am so proud of myself for finally quitting after smoking for 11 (just 1 and a half years short of half my life). Already I feel like my breathing and sense of smell are improving. For those of you who still smoke, I suggest Nicoderm CQ. It really worked for me.
