  1. Make it someplace more interesting than the kitchen please! Do you have a front porch?
  2. Has anyone mentioned "collateral damage" as a euphemism for civilian deaths in a war zone?
  3. Over on the model car site I run it's one of the most popular emoticons. I think it's the one I use the most. I'm always poking fun at my friends. Anyone who's not my friend isn't worth picking on/poking at.
  4. In the race between humans to make things more idiot-proof, and the Universe to make more idiots, the Universe will always win. That's one of the first lessons I was taught when learning about software development.
  5. It's a good thing you two are my friends.
  6. Hey, look at how vegetables are treated! Genetically altered. Forced to live in close confines. Sprayed with pesticides. Ripped from the ground with mean looking machines, tortured as they're processed by all sorts of other machines. It's all so inhuman and inhumane. Is there really such a big difference between how we treat cows and how we treat potatoes?
  7. I tend to talk/write too much.
  8. There's no doubt that sometimes it's best to take your time and make sure you get the words just right. That's one reason I love my word processor. And yet I'm willing to bet your friend got the gist of what you were trying to convey just from the sound of your voice alone. Even if the words weren't to your satisfaction. A good idea might be to talk with him/her again just to see if you made the points you were trying to make. Or perhaps follow-up with an e-mail to reinforce the points you were trying to make.
  9. Thanks. Did you get the story I sent back to you?
  10. Are you an Irish Jew? Or do you just like beer?
  11. What kits did you see as a child? Evil cliffhanger kits? I guess CJ must have had one.
  12. I use my computers/servers to make a living and also to have fun. Even when I goto bed I take a laptop with WiFi with me. I also remember the days of telex, paper/pencil, tape and card readers, US$1000 HDs that held 5MB, computers with 32KB RAM, 1MB of RAM for US$400, frame relay, 300 baud modems with acoustic couplers. I wonder what we'll be laughing about in another 20 years?
  13. So, I wonder where Jason and Sacha will get caught in the act today? They seem overdue for getting caught!
  14. I cleaned my kitchen so thoroughly even the germs will be afraid to return.
  15. Methinks we might need a new Secretary to properly record these things. It's an important position Ms. Strailo so pay more attention please.
  16. Why take a life partner? I'd turn that question around and ask why do you want a life partner? The answer will be different for almost everyone you ask. Therefore you're not going to get any one answer that is right for you. Is it something you want to do? If yes then don't question the reasons why. Just go with the flow. For me it just worked. We didn't spend all our time together because we each valued our time alone without feeling lonely. We didn't do it to have someone to go places with or do things with. We each had our own set of friends that we did that kind of stuff with. We didn't need each other as a rock to lean on for support because we were each strong enough in our own right that we didn't need that. It wasn't a matter of having someone in whom you could entrust your deepest secrets to. We each had at least one good friend who fit that description. Our lives were complete even without each other. So why have a life partner if your life is already complete? Ultimately I don't know why. All I know is there was some indefinable something that drew us together and we were happier as a result of it.
  17. Oh no. I hope your partner didn't look at GA and say, "Hey, you can't even remember how long we've been together!"
  18. Sounds like fun to me.
  19. The story itself is very good. That alone is worth celebrating. The last two chapter are really intense though. Especially the last one. I hope he'll let someone edit it so it has the polish it needs to look as good as it reads.
  20. Are you seeking some sort of computer-related degree, Colin?
  21. You'd have to read the story to understand what I meant. In fact I highly suggest you do read it. I have to wait for awhile before I can do a review of the last two chapters though. Especially the last chapter.
  22. Hi Tom. Where in the world are you today? I haven't seen you on IM in like three days. Hope you all aren't driving (hehe) each other crazy!
  23. I use a Bluetooth wireless headset for talking on the phone or on Skype.
  24. Yep. I saw something on TV once about that. Ever since then I've brushed my teeth in the kitchen.
  25. Yeah, I was into model rocketry as a kid. When I tried to get my nephews into it my brother-in-law was horrified. His side of the family is afraid of everything. I still like him enough to let him manage my money for me!
