I'll probably surprise you a time or two before this is over.
We shift to Wade for one chapter (53), then have a couple with Will (54 and 55), then a couple with Wade (56 and 57)
I've been reading this forum diligently, but I haven't commented. I figured I'd make up for my absence by posting the next chapter. I think the action picks up a bit in this one.

We were finishing up our dinner when Dad called me. “Where are you?” he asked. The fact that he didn’t even greet me first told me he was worried about me.
“I’m having dinner with Aunt Claire,” I said calmly.
“Oh. I didn’t know that.” I figured she’d have told him.
“I’m sorry. I thought you knew.”
“It’s OK,” he said nervously. He was uncomfortable because I was so calm. He expected me to be an emotional basket case. “I
I think that seeing one of his social peers down and out is really painful for Granger. It challenges his whole outlook on the existing social order. I'm sure he sees it as his place to do just as you said, and make sure the young Baron isn't embarrassed.
Brad and Stef are trying to look at things from a perspective of minimizing scandal and hubub while enjoying the event in Norway. Brad seems to be stuck in a situation where he would rather deal with a problem quickly and easily, rather than doing the right thing. Will has no such qualms.
I think the hotel wouldn't have had an issue primarily because he already had a room there, and only left because they were full.
Will sees things in terms of right and wrong, and doesn't always get the subtle shades of gray in between. Then again, those subtle shades of gray can often be hiding immorality.
You make some good points. Sometimes Claire's "let's all try to get along" approach simply doesn't work. I think she's trying to guide Will away from completely hating Jeanine at this point.
I think that Will recognized the basic problem with his relationship with his mother, and latched on to an opportunity to redress the balance. He needs her out of his life as a parent, not as a person, and that's a great way to start that ball rolling.
It's funny, when things are slow, readers get annoyed, but when they get fired up, I hear about that too. LOL. I'm glad you like the drama.
I think that there's potential for Will and JJ to be very tight, but I think they have some maturing to do.
I think that co-dependency is a huge problem for both of them. JJ rages, but generally falls into line. He's not like Will, who loves to lead a revolution for a just cause.
They say genius and insanity are neighbors. While mental illness is often hereditary, the incidence rates are so low that there's no reason to think Will won't end up with a normal psyche...for CAP that is. :-)
I like Calvert too. He is risky, and that makes him attractive. He is fiery and passionate, loyal and loving. Granger is bound up in his world, constricted by his rank and his position in society, and as much as anyone can, Calvert helps him bust out of those bonds. I think Calvert helps Granger enjoy his life more than any of the other men he's been with.
Mental illnesses are complex and scary things. We'll see how this one resolves itself. The human ability to forgive is a wonderful thing.
I don't think they're really thinking about it hard enough to go down that road. It wasn't like they were psychoanalyzing him. Jeff used the term "straight" to describe his perception of JJ, but neither one of them concluded that he was gay. They got their point across without using too many labels.
I think the stress at these competitions brings out the worst in him.
Yep
JJ has a relationship with Brad. It may not be a good one, but it's a relationship.

I was about to leave the rink, but changed my mind. I knew they’d come chasing after me. Instead, I went into the area for skaters only, flashing my badge at the guard, and chuckled. Let’s see my dad try to get past there. I just wanted some solitude to think about things.
My phone was vibrating like crazy. My dad, Stef, Pop ... they’d all tried to call me. When I saw the caller-ID flash Jeff’s name, I decided to answer. “What?”
“Du
Pirates aren't usually the big fear for a ship like Bacchante, which should be big enough to handle anything like that. But I bet they come in handy. ;-)
They're not at war with the mutineers. Besides, what would he have done with them? He'd be more concerned about maintaining the "purity" of his own crew.
