    Chapter 39

    OK (also brief) :-)
  2. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 39

Too the guillotine! Not in Georgian England, not for the daughter of a duke. There are other ways to punish her.

    Chapter 39

I think that George is willing to be charitable in this situation says a lot about his character. I finally got back on the Paternity bandwagon, and Chapter 20 has gone to final editing. Expect it within the week.

    Chapter 39

March 12, 1797 “What’s your name?” Granger asked the young man. “Phillips, sir,” he said. “I will see that you are taken care of,” Granger promised. The man merely said, “Follow me, sir,” accepting Granger’s words at face value. He led Granger to a door and opened it up, revealing a flight of stairs heading up to another closed door. They were in the cellar; Granger hadn’t realized that until now. He led Granger up the stairs
  5. Absolutely. Business is considered a "trade", and thus somewhat plebian. Best you can do is a major in economics.
  6. Nope. I'm the asshole. That means that I can be fun at times.
  7. Happy Birthday Dan! I'm sorry I'm a little late getting here. I saw this thread and thought it was Myr's birthday.

    Chapter 38

Revenge is rarely as worthwhile as it seems. We'll see how things work out.

    Chapter 38

LOL. Well, I try to keep you all from getting relaxed. Usually at the end, things are pretty happy. This one is winding down. there are only 4 more chapters left.

    Chapter 38

I realize that rape is a touchy subject, so I usually don't include it unless it moves the plot forward. Hopefully you'll agree that it did in this case...after you read the next chapter.

    Chapter 38

Thanks Danny. She is indeed twisted, but also driven.
  12. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 38

Usually a good strategy with my stories. ;-)
  13. You guys crack me up. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The next chapter more or less answers your questions on this matter, but it won't be up for a few days. Hang in there!
  14. Thanks for the recap, Lugh!
  15. Good call. Add the 20 pounds to make him more cushy.

    Chapter 38

Well, unless she's a forger, Freddie wrote the note, since George noted it was in his handwriting. We'll see if they can escape to Bermuda before George gets his hands on them.

    Chapter 38

I like that line too. :-) I think that George will handle this alright. I don't see him laboring over it overmuch like Travers did. He has the ability to shake things up. It is quite possible that she gave him the pox, though. That would really be bad news.

    Chapter 38

Bummer about the stars. I'll let you tell me if you think it worked after the story explains why.

    Be Rad

It's not always easy to avoid replaying the same soundtrack, so I'm glad you think I pulled it off with this one. This is one of my favorites of the CAP series. Brad and Robbie are one of those tempestuous couples that has a problem finding balance. This is the beginning of that problem. Millennium brings us to the end (so far). I don't think Robbie's behavior is all that unreasonable when you think about who he is. He's got some serious issues brewing there, based on his rape, and he's also a pretty high-maintenance guy. Personally, I think he's worth it.
  20. I think the big question is why she did it in the first place. That will probably determine his reaction. Regardless, I think this will only bring him closer to George, not farther away. It is so good to see you here! Wow! Welcome back! Sharon said that if I was going to turn him into a sex slave, I should have had the pirates do it. I think that's just because she likes those big swarthy guy encounters. I think the king would be pissed off. Really pissed off. If he finds out.

    Chapter 38

March 12, 1797 The shore boat hooked on to Belvidera, and Granger leaped toward her, grabbed her chains, but slipped, losing his footing. He hung there, scrambling to get his feet back onto the chains, while the ship rolled to the side, dunking him in the water up to his waist. The concerned cries from his gig just made him more embarrassed and irritated. He muffled a curse as he finally got his footing, thankfully saving himself from actually falling completely into

    Chapter 37

What an interesting way to look at Bertie. I love your metaphor: the mysterious spider we never (rarely) see.
  23. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 37

Alright, here's a spoiler. You can definitely expect Dr. Jackson to make it to the next ship, and probably Andrews too.
  24. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 37

Wow. Thanks! What a nice compliment. Like I mentioned, every time in the past he's had a pleasant homecoming. It's nice to see him push his boundaries a bit.

    Chapter 37

George has always had happy homecomings. This one...not so much. But as stolid as he is, he desperately needs someone to lean on at times like this. Chartley gets major brownie points for being that guy.
