Not likely, but the shock waves influence on nearby star systems would be interesting to think about. I have this idea that if a nearby star outside our solar system, say Alpha Centauri, were to go supernova, Earth and the other planets would be effected by it on some level. I think there is an equivalency in gravitational forces within galaxy and star clusters, if one star were to go nova, it would affect the corresponding interactions of other star systems. Aero could probably deny my theory or support it better with advanced mathematics, (just don't steal it without giving me credit, I had thought about it after a chat with a friend, who was interested in astronomy).

38 million light years away, so 38 million years ago, I think I was a probably a saber tooth tiger back then, without a suicidal mammoth or a weird sloth for a friend Time is relative, all the dying stars we see now have been dead for a long time now, we're just reading the delayed obituaries.

Simple and emotive, we all learn as we grow older that mistakes haunt us. I wish I had taken more chances too with guys I knew, but age gives us wisdom too late to make things right.

This is good and fun story, finally a science fiction story that holds nothing back and goes further. The truth is out there! Good story and I hope you expand on it and find that home among the stars as many are searching for.

Nice and gentle tale of a fairy, kind of reminds me of Thumbelina Beautiful and simple, you capture the small things in life with big perspective very well.

Conversations with Strangers
W_L commented on Menzoberranzen's story chapter in Conversations with Strangers
A Cerebral tale of love and lost, very well designed. It sort of makes me think of soundless wind chimes, an amazing LGBT movie with conceptual catharsis. I have special place in my heart for writers of thought and memory as it is also my personal style of writing as well. -
Great start, I can't wait for more predicaments between Caleb and Brael Seriously, this is cruel and unusual punishment Lugh, give us more. I want to know why Caleb is being targeted? What is a "Brael"? Leaves a lot of room for story telling!

Frames of reference are complex to handle and embed emotions into. This was a great story as it moved organically from point A to point B. From loneliness to unrequited love to a mistake that haunts two lives and finally brings out hope for the future. Hope that meeting between the two of them goes well

Fun story, I thought the word you were looking for was "Fey" for fairy folk, but it's really minor point. I loved how you incorporate so many interesting elements into such a small story. It has a lot of fun parts and some things that people usually relate to the paranormal or supernatural, i.e. spiritual visitations for Christine's story and Astro-projection for little Mike's story. It all comes together very well.

I'll start reading all the anthology stories this weekend
W_L posted a blog entry in Life is worth an entry
Too much hectic stuff happened this week and last weekend to allow me to read the stories. Sorry guys, but thanks to the few who took a chance and read my play. You know real life stinks and my life in particular is hectic enough with drama and issues from everywhere. I know the job is disheartening, but I can't abandon everything and just leave, I've got obligations to everyone around me: Patients, Doctors, general staff, secretaries...I'm trying not to start a rant, just an update on my life. Anyway, I will also try to finish up Act 2 to be sent to my beta readers. Act 1 was soft setup, Act 2 will be much more aggressive. -
Act 2 will reveal the conflict, hope you enjoy it Bill W.

Scene 2 is where the connection is hinted, they are planning on creating a false reality. Distorting facts to suit their needs. Very amoral, but Dr. Lucas as you will know is not that nice.
-
True, I was debating whether scene 2 should be scene 3, but then I had felt like it would sound too much like leave it to beaver type story if I had done that. By introducing Dr. Lucas and his four "religious figures" sans horse (read into their names Conquest, that's the original name, not pestilence, read it up the old book , famine, war, and death. I've been planning this play from the ground up.)
-
Thanks, I've been hoping to write something that could be original and fun. It seems plays have not been played well in Anthology series much.

I think what's been missing for many seasons now is that the Simpsons no longer do good musical numbers: Here's two of my favorites: "We put the Spring in Springfield" (Remember, a Burlesque house is a bordello ) "Stone cutter song" (Yes, the Oscars are rigged )

Ah, green and beer are all around today in Boston. Corned Beef is perfect, but I haven't found a place that serves a mustard hot enough to satisfy me, and there's just too many micro-brews.

It's NCAA College basketball and I got screwed this year: Duke and UConn was knocked out to kill part of my bracket. Yesterday my final four was killed, when Michigan lost. (Ugh!, how could they lose?) All I can hope for now is that Kansas, Kentucky, and Florida survive to the final four. Y_B, how's your bracket looking?

I will refrain from arguing, as I know I'd probably get stuck in another one of those endless matches, too. Ravi committed a crime, it's true. Privacy was violated and personal degradation occurred. What he did went beyond libel by disbursing the information to others that indirectly led to some one's death. Is it a hate crime? That's hard to say, Ravi did not commit the action of murder directly, but metaphorically pulled the trigger with a touch of the keyboard. There's still enough reasonable doubt to give him wiggle room out of hate crime prosecution. Do I think he is guilty of a hate crime? Based on his issues with his roommates sexuality and the malice he showed with his actions, I do, but if I were a heterosexual man or woman on the jury without my personal views and dealings, I probably would still harbor certain doubts. Ravi will be found guilty of certain crimes, he is unlikely to escape jail time for criminal actions with a certain intent. (Pranks have to be thought out and clearly orchestrated, or else you won't be able to do it. He might not have wanted to kill his roommate with the action, but he did know it was wrong and malicious.) That's my two cents

Remember the episode where Shelbyville stole their lemon tree, hehe Roman numerals are useful after all (especially if you were watching the long line of Rocky movies )

I was wondering if anyone has made a thread about the Simpsons, just as a general topic in the Soapbox or Lounge, but it doesn't seem to be here. (Only the Simpsons movie made an appearance, but it was brief) I've been watching the show since I was a kid, actually caught on to it around 1996-97. I sort of liked the show from that time, more than the later episodes, but I still watch it. I mean the Halloween episodes sort of suck now, the old one with 3D Homer and Bart were fun (this was back in the day when 3D was still a novelty and Beast Wars had just started). I remember "Who Shot Mr. Burns" really well, I can even remember the lines of dialogue from that episode (No, I didn't guess it was Maggie, I thought it was Smithers like everyone else.) I'm going to turn 25 in June and I just realized that the Simpsons have been around for as long as I have; it has been the mirror into American culture, history, and trends for four decades (80's, 90's, 00's, and 10's), if not more with flashbacks. The show started back in 1987 as short cartoons, but it has become much more over time. The writing and animation in that show were cool and way ahead of their time, I've just noticed more stuff as I got older and started watching the show on DVD (Yes, I am one of those nerds who listen to commentary as well). My Top 5 Simpsons Episodes: 1. Who Shot Mr. Burns pt. 1 2. Homer Phobia (Just cause, you know we're all reaching for the rainbow ) 3. Bart After Dark (I love the ending song so much, there's nothing wrong with a Burlesque house) 4. Treehouse of Horror (1-8, you got to serve man, the Shining, and pre-"Butterfly effect" parodies, seriously the Simpsons made fun of Ashton Kutcher before he got famous) 5. Last Exit to Springfield (Surrealistic and lot of little jokes, not to mention the funny scenes in the Dentist office and Homer's runs ) As honorable mentions go: Sideshow Bob Roberts, the one where Bob wins like Richard Nixon (He got 100% of the freakin votes, he didn't need to commit fraud) Bart the General, "Haha" Nelson Muntz impression Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show, yes I like it when writers go metaphysical and talk about TV shows within TV shows,. "Worst Episode Ever" Itchy and Scratchy Land, it's a parody of National lampoon and Jurassic Park Anyone want to comment about their Simpson's memories and top 5 episodes after 25 years

As all you know I have a Asus Transformer Prime, Tablet + keyboard = Best of both worlds, it can work like an iPad or a regular laptop. Also with the USB and microSD slot, I 've got options for memory or an external drive.

I have written the first act of a play with a lot of issues, technical and structural, and i am not sure if i should post it or not for the spring anthology. It isn't controversial or experimental like my usual short or long stories. However to me, it is definitely different, I've never done a play or written lines like these. I am picking up the idea and central issues of this play around a handful of news stories that got me thinking. It's a decent idea for a play, but i know at my current abilities as a writer i have not done it justice.

Look Away Dickie By W.L Background: Erik and Bastian have enjoyed the greatest joys in life. They were best friends in school and became lovers as they got older. They might not have been married in the eyes of others, but they were happy with their lives. Erik was a pediatrician at Winchester Medical Center, while Bastian was a high school history teacher. They had adopted two boys. Bobby, age 16, was adopted 4 years ago and Dickie, age 13, adopted exactly 1 year ago. Bobby had been pimped

My first attempt at writing a play. Lots of conflict, characters issues, and even a Faustian influence (What can I say, I like my Devil's bargain)
