You know the mystery of the Californian is one of naval history's most remarkable legacies from the Titanic. Did Capt. Stanley Lord really refuse to come to aid the Titanic after seeing her warning rockets? Was the ship really 19.5 nautical miles away? For over 100 years, nearly every board of inquiry into Titanic has found fault with SS. Californian's Capt Stanley Lord's decisions during the night, even in his lifetime the Titanic haunted his entire career. There's also a possible third alternative that most people disbelieve that it was not the Californian next to the Titanic during that night, but a Norwegian sealing ship, which was illegally sealing in the North Atlantic. This story is another new concept, but it seems like it would contradict eyewitness testimony from the Californian crew members who saw the rockets close by.

Blasphemy, my Amarrian toon shall torch you with lasers I know what you mean, but I built my eve accounts up and I really can't stop, they are now a self sustaining, which is fun part about the game. Plus, the developers keep adding new stuff into it and the orbital bombardment feature will be epic. Still, I wish I can kick this habit.

Have you ever been addicted to Mmos? Maybe spending to many hours mining gold on warcraft? Paid for that extra accounts and monitors so you could make a guild? Warcraft addiction is acknowledged but how about other Mmo games? Where is the line between gaming and addiction?

Wow that's hot! Sadly, I switched to American Eagle a few years ago, when I was in college

Good Witch Vs. "Evil" Witch (The Lies of the Wizard of Oz)
W_L replied to John Doe's topic in The Lounge
Need to resist political baiting as I know what the wizard of oz was really about. (19th century American economic/politics with early 20th century stuff) Just for reference,The wicked witches represented two politicians of the same party and Dorothy wasn't wearing ruby slippers in the book. Alas, i promised not to get into politics until stories are done. -
I've been a huge fan of the old girl for years. An eerie fact about the titanic's destined doom, in 1898 American writer Morgan Robertson wrote "futility" about a British superliner named the titan, which was said to be nearly unsinkable, but sank due to an iceberg with insufficient life boats in April. Creepy huh? Also legends abound about titanic from curses due to improper launch without blessings to other things on crew members abound. As for relaunching a sister ship, probably easier to just take whatevers left of the Rms Olympic scattered around from it demolition as a base for it. I dub the new ship gigantic.

Just found my old childhood storybook of mother goose rhymes, I didn't know they had so many innuendos and adult meanings until now. Here's one for folks about a horse shoe nail: For want of a nail For want of a nail the shoe was lost For want of a shoe the horse was lost For want of a horse the rider was lost For want of a rider the battle was lost For want of a battle the kingdom was lost And all for the want of a horseshoe nail

Anyone saw the simpsons episode where bart accidentally causes a toad infestation in Australia back in the 90s? Now i know the cultural reference

I miss the silver hair, but I think "new" Dante looks hot, too. Can I play with him now? Can't wait to see how the new fully charged power mode works.

He stopped eating after learning how much pork was in food. I think he went vegetarian.

Not joking, Warner Bros. remade the Looney Toons characters into a situational comedy for cartoon network. There's still lots of good laughs and good humor. Take a look at one of the episode Keep a close eye on Porky, he's my favorite breakout character on this show, since I am already a fan of Bugs: Part 1 (I usually skip the merry melodies music videos to part 2): http://youtu.be/njP6GIJaq5I Part 2: http://youtu.be/oO6u-tMVCbA So, what's up doc?

I hope the hidden blade is still around. I wonder if we get to play with artillery in the third one too. (I love howitzers) Agreed with you all, it will be fun. Heck, maybe, they'll combine the present and past together into two storyline games to really mess up your perception of reality (a game with a sudden animus jump without an animus after you solve a certain puzzle in the present to unlock the memories of the past).

I've wrote a very cold blooded and chilling scene and realize that I can be extremely dark if I choose to be. I've gotten a lot of comments in the past from readers that felt I tend towards darkness a lot in my story, but I never ask you guys, what type of darkness is it? Is it something that you guys like or something you guys fear? or a little bit of both? Then, I start reading and writing review of stories and find other authors with the same word in their reviews, "it's dark" or something to that effect. What is darkness to a reader? I mean darkness can be gothic horror based like vampire love stories, or it could be surreal issues, or maybe even, if I am writing the stories correctly for you to get my point, the darkness is in the mundane human actions. I think we are taught to believe that good things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad people. Karma is a bitch and such. However, what if the logic fails? Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. What does that make our choices and actions? In my view, Objectivism is a lie, created by purists seeking only the natural goodness in outcomes, perfection in design, and simplicity of nature. Evil will triumph and so will good, but it is based on probability and not some innate nature of good always winning. Darkness for me is reality within fiction, a cold chill that everyone has done the right thing in their point of view, but at the end, they are consumed by their choices whether for the greater good or ill.

Hallelujah! It was an awesome story, touching, heartfelt, and beautiful on many levels. When even one Christian mother has cast off the chains of dogma to begin living and relating out of love for their fellow man, it's a day to celebrate. May the day come when that philosophy is not isolated, but flows naturally into all people's thoughts.

lol!, Other than New York/Boston, Matt's picks are identical to mine, I must not be too far off then.

It is truly amazing and spell binding. It also has some really interesting questions about ethics, human nature, and greed on an international and human scale. Margin Call (2011) was fun, aggressive, and highly entertaining: Jeremy Irons is such a great actor, plus you got Kevin Spacey and Demi Moore. I think Michael Douglas has good competition for Wall Street versus Jeremy Irons in Margin Call. I've put off watching this movie for a while, but another benefit of freeing up my time without the soapbox, I get to watch movies people have suggested to me. The concept of market securitization is a very complex issue in finance. From my point of view to be honest, almost all modern finance based on valuations with future values built into it are inherently not something I like from an accounting perspective, too volatile. Highly recommended for people wanting a good movie for the 2007-2008 meltdown.

Anyone here ever had LAN parties? I know it's a dated concept, but even in college back in 2008 with a group of friends, it can be fun. Games like Civilization IV and total war were awesome for LAN. Who knows, maybe if a group of us do meet up in Washington or wherever, we can try to do one on our laptops. Though, I warn you guys, beware my Russian Cossacks

I'm in as well, though, I don't watch Hockey as much as football or basketball.

Let's all create newbie accounts and rush Myr with villagers I've heard about it for a while, but haven't had a chance to take look into it. Might try it out. My favorite is still Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings and all the campaigns. I loved playing the Barbarossa Campaign, conquering Germany and Italy was awesome. Plus, it was one of the first games I took time to mod, if you go onto Age of Empires Heaven page, if it still exists, I created several mods for famous battles. Multiplayer was good too, not Star craft good, but still good. I hate Age of Empires 3 though, it's a freaking card game really. I want to be able to build my town and gather resources the old fashion way, not through some mysterious shipment from the home port.

I'm serious about it this time and it has been building up for a while. I mean I love debating, but I love writing stories too. Every moment I spend researching and debating points is a moment I can't write. I said almost two weeks ago, I'd release my Act 2 and Act 3 this week for my play. Look at my GA stories profile, it's still not up. I've had this happen to me more than once, I start a story with ideas, themes, and concepts, then I get into a heated debate in the Soapbox and I neglect it. When I get back to it, I no longer have that spark to write the story that way anymore. Back in February, before DK's blow out and all the other stuff that came, I had said it in my profile, "I want to write more stories and less politics", it still there right now time stamped and all. I wasn't joking and really did want to do that. Two months later, I still want to do that and I have to stick to the plan. I have to force myself out of the soapbox debates for 3 months after tonight, no matter who asked for me to come back, no matter how much bait anyone tries to throw at me. If people want my point of view or analysis, pm me. Simply put darling, I need to put the stories back to front of my GA life. Tonight will be my last major posting in the Soapbox. I am going to list out the final 4 points to counter Blue's nominal wage value theory, then give myself a 3 month break to write my stories. Hell, I only wrote 7500 words for the Anniversary Novella so far, I was hoping to write a full 30K by now. If I don't step out and begin writing, I might skip the deadlines due to another heated debate. This is not me leaving GA or leaving the soapbox, I am an eternal presence, you can't get rid of me that easily, but I have to get back to writing (and reading, I stopped midway through CJ's anthology entry last week). Writing is what got me into GA, through it all, writing should be why I am here.

I miss Fable, when I could marry the cute boy next door and have kids with him. -
You got to try Total War II: Shogun, they took the original idea for the first Total War and made it more epic. I can mine harbors, use coastal fortifications and cannons against invading ships, have generals that I can command and control into dynamic units like RPG character, and some really cool tricks with units. Also try the expansions, Fall of the Samurai is fun so far, I will probably try Rise of the Samurai later.
