    Chapter 11

Was Cal’s father in contact with his mother? Was he paying child support? Why did he think Cal would be in college? ;-) It seems apparent he hadn’t seen any recent pictures of Cal… ;-)

    Chapter 10

Probably. I’ve been distracted by other stories – including attempting to read all the (short) stories by an author on another site. And watching Ken Burns’s The Vietnam War on PBS. ;-)

    Chapter 10

You’ve done a great job of letting us feel just how relieved Cal was after the constable gave him the good news! ;-)

    Chapter 9

I think he’s counting on Cal’s history and reputation. I think there might be a kind of class thing going on too. I’m sure he’s furious that Davey just cannot see through Cal’s ‘gold-digging.’ ;-)
  5. You’ve certainly managed to ramp up the suspense now! It’s great to hear from Colin & company, but I miss Stan & Buddy! ;-)

    Chapter 43

Lots of actors are listed on IMDb as having begun their careers on the show. I think I’ve read Brits mentioning the show too. Lots of US actors start on soap operas too. I’ve heard of The Bill and Casualty (both British) because they’re often listed as previous roles on IMDb too.

    Chapter 43

So I should just imagine he’s imitating someone on Eastenders instead of Neighbours*? * I used to watch Eastenders back in the ‘80s, but I’ve never seen Neighbours. I did watch Prisoner (aka Prisoner: Celll Block H in the US) and movies like Sum of Us and Muriel’s Wedding – even a bunch of Gay porn movies like Jackaroos!

No, it should be Seb! He’s the one taking college courses. And he’s the one who is the returning student! ;-)

    Chapter 43

They aren’t all 27 innings long? ;-) The only fun things about soccer are the uniforms and the Mexican announcer yelling, ‘Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!!!!!

    Chapter 43

I’m not a sports fan at all. I enjoy watching the Olympics though. Especially (men’s) swimming/diving, gymnastics, some of the cycling and boating (canoe/kayak/racing skiffs/etc) events during the Summer Games. During the Winter Games, it’s ice skating/dancing, speed skating, skiing, and most of the other events – but not Curling (sorry Canadians!) or the ones involving shooting (not sorry at all!). But having monitored the ever-growing list of Openly LGBTQ athletes, I have an increased interest in all the events that included Team LGBTQ!

    Chapter 43

Well, the Giants win proves this story is a fantasy! This year, they’re just hoping to end the season with fewer than 100 losses! Personally, being forced to watch any baseball game would be torture – it’s a good thing neither of my nephews played! ;-) And the Fairmont Hotel faces Union Square, the heart of San Francisco’s major shopping district. While there are others, Union Square is the one the boys would most likely enjoy wandering around in. Nike Town, Apple Store, lots of fun places. If you edit your text slightly to say they walked around the six or seven blocks in the Union Square area, it makes more sense. ;-) But since the trip was so carefully planned, why didn’t Will & Liam go to the Castro? Even if they’d feel overwhelmed, there are things to do and see that don’t involve bars or gift stores. I would think they wouldn’t want to visit San Francisco and not see the epicenter of the Gay Universe! ;-) Oh, and since SFO (San Francisco International Airport) is located outside the City/County of San Francisco, the city might seem larger than it is. It’s only the tip of the Peninsula (plus the islands in the Bay and the Farallon Islands outside the Golden Gate.) San Francisco’s importance and prestige haven’t been due to size so much as location (and self-promotion). ;-) Didn’t Liam take any pictures? San Francisco is one of the most photogenic cities in the world. How could he not use a camera even if it’s only the one on his phone? ;-)
  14. That’s enabling behavior. Sometimes Tough Love is the only way for someone to change. I know it forced me to confront my problems… Note: I should point out that my problem was with debt and was not a chemical issue. My seven years has almost certainly passed. That will wipe my record clean.
  15. I think you not only inherit a susceptibility, but also attitudes towards alcohol and other drugs. I grew up in a home where no one drank. The only alcohol in the house was for cooking. Needless to say, the only drugs in the house were a very limited number of over the counter medications (aspirin/acetaminophen, cough syrup/drops, antihistamine, etc) and the very occasional prescription. When you don’t grow up seeing mom and dad having a cocktail or beer, it doesn’t become something that seems normal or natural. When mom’s not popping valium, you don’t get accustomed to just taking a pill to feel better. It just wasn’t something that happened in my home – and doesn’t happen in my apartment now!

    Cut the Cake

There’s always the Contact* solution: it only costs a bit more to make a second one! ;-) * The 1997 movie where Jody Foster and SETI discover a signal from outer space. Oh, and Matthew McConaughey manages to keep his shirt on. David Morse plays her dad. ;-)

    Cut the Cake

But is Jimmy (cake maker) as upset as Paul (carrot cake lover) is over the wanton destruction of the integrity of the cake? It was Punctuation Day yesterday.

@Parker Owens, you do realize this story demands a followup story featuring Paul’s revenge on his brother’s insensitivity!

    Cut the Cake

I was able to do fairly well in math classes up until I got to Intermediate Algebra in 11th grade. I almost failed the class, so that was the very last math class I ever took. Geometry was logical and made perfect sense to me, but Algebra never did. Of course I might have done better in all my classes if I ever studied! ;-)

    Cut the Cake

Well, you could cut the cake in half… Personally, I don’t like carrot cake (or zucchini bread), a sneaky attempt by parents to get their kids to eat vegetables.

    Chapter 3

No, I’m sure you’re in the majority! It’s just that a relative minority posts Comments. We are the few who express our opinions in public – the rest are in The Closet, hiding in Narnia. And I’m guessing the majority of us are liking the story even if just a small percentage even vote! ;-) Besides, Mr 8890 only said he gets confused because he reads too many stories at the same time. Maybe I’m misreading things, but it’s not clear whether he’s read the story before – after all, there aren’t any scary Swedish clowns in it! He’s much too young to be experiencing age-related memory loss… ;-)

    Chapter 3

Okay! Now I remember where this story goes! My memory gets confused because I read too many stories simultaneously. ;-)
  25. Happy Birthday MrM!
