  1. Way before Beyonce was conceived, this woman was raising the roof. We have a tendency to forget the women who forged the path so that artists like Beyonce can take center stage. Etta James was a tough lady at a time when women were put on the back burner to their male counterparts. She had to deal with the egos of men like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. With each passing year, the stars who innovated and shaped blues and rock, making music that still to this day cannot be replicated, are dead or dying. Long live the spirit of Etta James. She was a rocking powerhouse.
  2. Anytime anybody is rude, it makes me double-check my own behavior to make sure I don't do that to other people. ~ Patricia Heaton
  3. I remember my oldest being in love with TLC when he was just 10 years old. But then again he also listened to Metallica, Nirvana, and Aaliyah. LOL
  4. Like many men, neither Ben, nor Travis is able to express their emotions very well. They bottle up everything trying to be ‘Real Men.’ They end up being emotionally stunted and that has many manifestations including the inability to commit to a romantic partner.
  5. Parents always think they have a better perspective on life, and usually they do, but they also only see what kids allow them to see… ;-)
  6. And Michael J Fox for those of us who are older…
  7. Does her partner wear a RCMP hat?
  8. So when California, Washington, and Oregon petition to join your Federation, you’ll let us in? ;-) Or are you referring to expanding into the Caribbean?
  9. Thank you Canada for supporting LGBTQ films! Your government has brought your filmmakers to Frameline for many years. I got to see the Canadian National Film Board trailer several times during Frameline41! (There was a Harvester cutting a huge Canada 150 logo into a field, among other images.) It was much better than seeing the ‘heart-warming’ Wells Fargo ad where a Lesbian couple adopts a hearing impaired child and the voiceover at the end intones, ‘…when two becomes three.’ And I hear ‘…when two Wells Fargo accounts becomes three.’ Or, for the second year in a row, the other ‘local San Francisco’ bank, Bank of America, can’t even put together their own LGBTQ ad, but has to borrow someone else’s PSA instead…
  10. Just everyday stuff. Stand up, and fight, like you are alive.
  11. Happy Birthday from the older CA to the younger CA! I wish we had a few more things in common with you, but we’re working on it! ;-)

    Part Two

There are a few authors on the site, like @Timothy M., who might appreciate reading a story like this. You just need to get a few of them to comment and their Followers will… follow. ;-) Maybe we can boost your profile a little…
  13. I’m still pushing for Buddy.uk… I’ve missed Stan too. I guess it will be quite a while before he goes back out on missions since they haven’t figured out a way to bring along a portable Buddy – yet! But that was never his forté anyway…

    Part Two

I must be clueless! (The chorus can stop agreeing with that statement now!) I didn’t have any clue about the gender of the protagonist. And I just spent 10 days sitting in a theater watching LGBTQ films, many Lesbian, and a few bisexual! My brain just made the assumption that, like your other protagonist, Georgie was a Gay man/boy. I didn’t really think about the toilet part. I’d have been upset that a strange man was sitting on my toilet and would want to get rid of him too. The pink bathrobe isn’t completely out of character for some Gay men I know. And the other things just seemed like normal idiosyncrasies. Very clever. But I know that had I been aware of the gender before I started reading the story, I probably would have skipped it… ;-)

Well that certainly isn’t Robbie! ;-)

    Chapter 5*

Interesting how Landon saw through Chandler’s closet walls and called him on it. They have such different perspectives on Helen and her family. How will Liam, Chandler, and Landon interact with each other once they all become more comfortable and relaxed?

    Jeremy Proctor

Delkenzie! ;-) And we get to see Mitch again! Jeremy Doolittle! I remember reading all the Dr Doolittle books. I even got to read one that had been put into reserve storage in the Library. Maybe George can try smaller doses more frequently than once a day. That should make it more tolerable and a little less scary for Jeremy. And I think it should be Buddy/UK that Stan installs. Otherwise, after a dozen or so Buddies, no one will be able to remember which one is where. Egypt’s ISO 3166 code is EG (and its Internet TLD is .eg), so rather than Buddy III, it’d be Buddy/EG. Or VUN could use the internet-style convention and be Buddy.us, Buddy.uk, and Buddy.eg which looks better to me. ;-)
  18. @Parker Owens For you, this awesome recording of Josef Hoffman performing the Liszt piano transcription for Wagner Tannhäuser overture. It was recorded in 1915, but comes to life with each new unscrowling. Hope you like it (the playing starting at min 5:40 is fascinating....)
  19. Thank you, dear friend! I have not heard this aria, but I do love Pergolisi
  20. @Lux Apollo This one's for you, Lux I'm not sure the performance is the best, but some of the arias are really interesting, like the first one. Let me know what you think. Nicola Fago, Cantate a Ariette, circa 1695
  21. @J.HunterDunn Something for your summer day, my friend. You should like the opening for sure Alessandro Scarlatti, Erminia, 1723

    Echoes

A declaration of trust and love.
  23. The one I feel sorry for is Nate. Either the evil minister has sent him to a reprogramming camp or just kicked him out of his house. As a PK (Preacher’s Kid), I know that PKs either react to the suffocating religiosity of home by rejecting religion and revolting against the things their parents represent or they go to the other extreme and become hyper-religious themselves. The second explains the religious dynasties such as Billy Graham’s son and MLK’s daughter. My father was very conservative religiously, politically, and culturally. But he wasn’t a fire-and-brimstone preacher. He was very low-key in his presentation. Ranting and raving just wasn’t his style – unless I really did something to make him angry! (My brothers were never quite as frustrating to my parents as I was.) ;-) I rejected my father’s church and am seen by my family as rebelling against what my parents taught me, but most people on the outside don’t see it that way and my revolution is very mild overall. (I may be Gay and very Progressive politically, but I’ve never done drugs, smoked anything, or even had any alcohol.) My father would never have denounced me from the pulpit because it would have been embarrassing to the family and such things were kept very private!

    Chapter 23

I would give him a chance, but only as a friend. Nothing more.
  25. But only in some states. And only after you come to a complete stop first. Lots of people just slow down when they turn and they are just begging for a ticket!
