The FBI Arrives to the Rescue
Former Member commented on R. Eric's story chapter in The FBI Arrives to the Rescue
Then Stan looked at the large glass above a big black glass table. Large glass rectangle? Large glass panel? Mark gave the look of innocence as an Alter Boy. Of an Altar. “I had past, I forgot my parents.” A past? You’re all having trouble excepting change. Accepting. I’ve known techies like Stan, but usually it was games or coding that made them for get about showering. Bill Gates apparently was guilty of that and had to be reminded to bathe before meeting investors. I can understand Stan’s near orgasmic reaction to all that technology – I remember my reactions to all the fantastic new products at MacWorld Expos in the ‘90s (one company offered a ‘mouse’ that used your feet with one pedal to navigate and another to click; a different company sold a ‘keyboard’ that worked with one hand, you rested your palm on something that sort of resembled a stone, your fingers and thumb had four or so buttons each and various combinations provided all the normal keys required, your fingers moved back and forth, but never diagonally so it was less stressful; I also saw a demo of a pointer device that used your thoughts to move the cursor; those were magical times when the IBM/Motorola PowerPC processor family was significantly faster than Intel’s Pentium processor). -

Most people are aware of Y Tu Mamá Tambien (And Your Mother Too) which introduced most of us to Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal. The Way He Looks is a Brazilian film that isn’t as well known as it should be.

If you live in an enlightened area like I do, libraries often allow you to check out DVDs. You might be surprised at what you find! Librarians and bookstores are usually very big on objecting to censorship and banned books.

I also want to recommend Mentor, a documentary about a high school in a Cleveland, Ohio suburb which often appears in Most Livable Cities lists.

And I wouldn’t know anything about seeding and leeching or anything… ;-)

Destiny Begets Destiny

Thank you Gary for writing this awesome story. Great that Kellar is on the rightful place now. I hope he and Tobyn have a long and happy life to share, and I would like to hear about them again. There are still things, we don`t know, which are really worth to look on. Lyssa -
I must have read them (Brittle as a Bird and A Bridge to Yesterday) since I did read everything on The Mustard Jar, but they don’t seem familiar with a brief glimpse. Oh well, I guess I have two more stories to read! ;-)

The performances are stunning, especially the second one. It was interesting to learn about this poem and its origin. Also, it's interesting to discover the Danish roots of the story, and then learn of Goethe's 'mistake' of calling the spirit the 'Ash Tree King' (even though it is doggedly translated into English as the Elf King instead). Interesting because @Timothy M. taught me the ash is the tree of life in ancient Danish folklore, and I find the overlaps very intriguing. Thanks for posting this, Peter!

I didn’t take it that way. I was thinking more in terms of others who might be reading this and not feel comfortable viewing things on Netflix (maybe they don’t want parents to know?). My impression is that purchasing an iTunes gift card might allow someone to view a movie more discreetly with a separate account that family is unaware of (Apple doesn’t make it easy to merge accounts later though).

I’m not completely certain kids have changed all that much over the years so much as circumstances and the world around us has changed. Kids attending schools in my town deal with people they know being killed while they’re watching. Other kids needing school supplies and groceries supplied by teachers and other donors. Violence and protests over the symbols of identity worn by students (ethnic pride, LGBTQ pride, political preferences – even hate groups). Students getting hospitalized because of drugs they got in school – the available drugs are much more powerful than when I was a teenager. Schools do not exist in isolation. What happens outside the walls and fences (and in many cases, metal detectors and guards) doesn’t stay outside. But it never did! I remember that a few years before I was in high school, there were race riots in schools. The war in Southeast Asia had ended by the time I graduated high school, but there had been fights over that in school too. I remember having to walk to clusters of pot smokers on the way to school. I refused to use the school restrooms because of the cigarette smokers. I wasn’t one of the cool kids, but I’m sure they had access to alcohol back then too. It wouldn’t be for me, but maybe Brett needs to think outside the box. Maybe he needs both an understanding boyfriend and an understanding girlfriend. Maybe Brett could find happiness with a Transwoman or a Transman. Maybe Bret just isn’t looking in the right places. It seems like he needs a combination of the best of both worlds. I know Ronyx doesn’t do sequels and generally writes about young people, but maybe Brett could be an exception?

Some of us cannot afford the monthly Netflix charges… (I don’t know my niece well enough to ask for a charity membership.)
-
Nah. I’d take Stan and the redhead from Cinderfella (also created with me in mind) as the third! ;-)

You can manage your followed content, but if you choose emails, the most frequent setting is daily. Theoretically, the lack of story title is one of the lower priority bugs still to be fixed. Personally, I’ve given up on trying to keep up with what they want to claim are features and what they admit are bugs.

My niece, who works for Netflix will be happy to hear your endorsement. But my cousin who works for Amazon would be quick to point out that they have an even better selection. (iTunes also offers a fairly large selection of the movies mentioned.)

I did! A huge football player would be too intimidating! Thank you! ;-)

You’re a Dalek*? *For those few who are not aware, the Daleks are one of several recurring enemies on the very long-running British Science-Fiction TV ‘programme’ Doctor Who. They frequently attempt to kill the Doctor and others while repeatedly saying, ‘Exterminate! Exterminate!’

There are two very sexy and sexual French movies that I can recommend. Stranger by the Lake (L’inconnu du Lac) is a mystery that takes place at a lakeside nude beach. Several of the characters spend most of their time naked. Paris 05:59: Théo & Hugo (Théo et Hugo dans le meme bateau – also sometimes called Theo & Hugo) takes place in real time.

“Medical and ever military, which you said your father is in.” Even? They can see us as a threat and want to determine what makes you a threat of not. Or? Stan sounds interesting! He’s kind of young, but he must be intelligent! He could probably carry on a good conversation and he’s even a techie! He can do his searching out of my apartment… ;-)

Chicago also has tunnels. I think I remember hearing they came into existence after a fire and the city was rebuilt above the ruins.

I wanted to post the Leonard Slatkin recording of the Grand Canyon Suite with the Saint Louis Symphony, but it's not on youtube.... It's a far superior rendering than any other of the recordings of Grofe's work, imo

I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve had many Mormon and ex-Mormon friends over the years and even went out with an ex-Mormon once. (They were all a little odd.) ;-) If I were editing this chapter (and I’m not an editor), I would have deleted a whole bunch of extraneous commas. But I’m just a reader who never even graduated from community college. So you can ignore this suggestion. ;-) Oh, and I’d feel very uncomfortable in a place like that. So unlike my suburban California upbringing. I’m not used to fancy at all!
