    Cutting Class

Oh boy! Aiden is going to try standing up for himself by having sex with Dustin. The guy is one bad mistake followed by a worse one. Just because someone is willing to have sex with you doesn’t mean you have to let them!
  2. I’m guessing that stories similar to this were how you began your writing ‘career.’ ;–) Another GA author’s version of Vienna had his preteen protagonists propositioned several times by creepy sex tourists. When I was in my thirties (but still confused for someone in his early twenties), guys would brag to me about visiting Bangkok as if that would suddenly make them more desirable in my eyes (instead of being even more disgusting). I don’t know why they felt compelled to tell me such disturbing things. They made it quite clear that they didn’t see me as an individual, just an interchangeable accessory.

Well, as long as Zampa doesn’t transform during the next full moon (she wasn’t old enough earlier?). And no crossovers from that other story you wrote! I suppose you could come up with a were-dolphin (or were-whale?) where every full moon, they lose all their body hair! But I’m not so sure about gray or blue skin… ;–)

    Elias

I realize that in a previous chapter, I Commented that someone who loved Elias abused him, but it’s clear that Elias never felt loved by his abuser. Elias’ egg donor is an accomplice to the abuse because she never paid attention to what was happening to Elias. She apparently never wondered why Elias’ personality changed after the abuse began. Elias’s symptoms are not normal behavior for a teen undergoing puberty. A decent parent or guardian would have wondered why such a dramatic transformation took place and would have at least suspected something unusual occurred. Did none of Elias’ teachers notice his fear of touch?

    Chapter 46

You do realize that when I first discovered free Gay fiction online (Nifty and a few other long-forgotten sites), I used to edit the text as I read it. The few authors who responded to my email corrections were uniformly rude and displeased. I stopped emailing authors in reaction.

    Chapter 46

You have to remember that people here in the US are so ignorant that one company introduced a “l’Vanilla” flavored food product. It was so unmemorable I cannot remember the brand or what it actually was (it might have been yogurt or ice cream). We just ‘know’ that something (that we think) is French is somehow classier. It doesn’t work with cars though. Peugeot, Citroën, and Renault all pulled out of the US/Canada market in the Eighties. The closest thing to a French car being sold in this market these days is a Nissan that uses components developed with Renault. But there are persistent rumors that Citroën will export the DS line at some point. (All the Opel-designed Buicks were designed long before Peugeot took over Opel/Vauxhall.) ;–)

It looks like he used at least one of the suggestions (although I spelled ‘voilà’ complete with the correct accent mark). Weirdly enough, the formatting changed to allow Safari to recognize the text coding so Reader View works! ;–)

    Chapter 46

My mother took a Chinese cooking class from a woman who was half-Chinese and half-Japanese. Spring Rolls were one of the items they cooked. It is definitely not Japanese. It’s similar to Lumpias from the Philippines (my friends referred to one version as Shanghai-Style). It’s not dissimilar to Won Tons, but in a very different form. ;–)
  11. That reminded me of a song that I ran across on YouTube that was an 8-bit version of a tune I was searching for. I discovered that there are several people doing this (8-Bit Universe has a huge collection that includes classic rock, new wave, current music, TV theme songs, and video game-associated tunes). They are intended to sound like a very old computer or game system generating the tones. But since they use multiple tones simultaneously, some very, very early computers probably couldn’t produce those songs the same way. I am amused by the genre, but I’m sure real musicians (eg Mr Wilde) are appalled by the description alone! ;–)

    Chapter 46

Perhaps Henri will consent to share some of his recipes with Boris. In Boston at least, fresh seafood is readily available. I hope the Princes are enjoying the micro-pellets of plastic in all that fresh seafood. ;–) I will just have to ingest my plastic micro-pellet quota some other way! I hate fish and other seafood. I was often forced to eat fresh-caught fish right off the sports fishing boat, deliver straight to my house by the parishioner sports fishermen themselves. Since we were very poor, my parents were extremely grateful to get free food to go with the too-ripe-to-ship-to-market vegetables that were delivered by farmer parishioners – I did enjoy the ultra ripe strawberries though. My minister father’s ‘bonuses’ were paid in-kind (we got free dental care too).

    Chapter 46

I just sent Reric a PM with a bunch of suggestions. ‘Voilà!’ was only one of them! There’s something in the interaction between the software Reric uses in combination with the GA software that prevents the Safari browser from recognizing the body of text as text to display in Reader View. Firefox is more forgiving of non-compliant coding and will display the same text in Reader View (which corrects the weird font size issues and hides ads and the extraneous junk that clutters the page).

You mean that isn’t what’s going to happen? ;–)
  15. This is an interesting look back at how and why the Major became homeless and received his nickname. Both of them, actually. It provides more details about one of the regulars from The Boot. This is also the first in a series of stories about The Boot regulars. This could definitely be read independently from The Boot and The Boot - Three Years On. But you’ll want to read the other stories anyway. ;–)
  16. So it sounds like the Major has a healthy bank account he’s neglected to check. He must be aware that his Army pension is going somewhere. When will he realize what he has? In the US, if there’s an account that’s been abandoned (no deposits or withdrawals), after a certain amount of time, the funds are sent from the bank to the state where they are held. This sometimes happens when people move or when they die. Income tax refunds are also sometimes forgotten about. The states maintain websites where you can search for all such funds. I would expect something similar to occur in the UK as well.

    Chapter 13

The Major was certainly being propositioned, but he didn’t seem to know how to react. Peter not only remembered him as a customer, but went to the effort of finding out what everyone called him. And then asked Kevin what his name was. Even though the Major has had several Gay friends, he doesn’t seem to be attracted to men. ;–)

I just noticed that this story is now listed, not only as the second book in The Boot series, but also a member of The Boot world! ;–)

    Chapter 13

It’s good that Kevin & Ian found the Major. It’s also good that Bill and his co-conspiritor got caught. Danny won’t agree, but it’s better that JJ gets the help that he needs before they find a place for him. ;–) What’s going on with Jeff?

News about Orson & Clay has travelled far and wide. Information included their eventual destination. Zampa has brought her non-conforming kitten to check out Camp Refuge.

    Chapter 12

At least Jack isn’t dealing with this all on his own! He could have been exposed when he was looking at a picture of a man or after he hit on Jimmy or something. Jack has Gay friends and a supportive older sister. He’s not facing homophobic parents alone.

    Chapter 45

In my apartment building, I have neighbors whose first languages are Spanish and Arabic (not the same people). In my neighborhood, there are many who speak languages including Chinese. There are nearby businesses whose signs are written in scripts that indicate their owners (and presumably employees) speak numerous other Asian languages (I do live on the Pacific Rim, you know). There are nearby cities that are known as centers where Koreans, Afghanis, Filipinos, and Indians congregate. There are semi-hidden indicators of communities of Portuguese, Italians, Japanese, Hawaiians, Finns, Swedes, Russians, Irish, and many, many others throughout the Bay Area too.
  23. According to some who have more experience in the subject than I have, straight boys who ‘experiment’ are more likely to have ‘helium heels.’ Because they're looking for that experience that women just can’t give them! But this was explained to me long before the term ‘pegging’ was created to describe straight men being penetrated by their female partners wearing a strap-on dildo. ;–) Personally, I think straight boys young men are too much work.

    Chapter 45

I wish I could have learned other languages when I was younger. I took three different languages in school, but only learned a handful of words each. I was never a good student and have learned a lot more since then just by reading on my own…
  25. I found this birthday too! Happy Birthday, Aditus!
