    Chapter 44

There’s a new Ford Bronco coming out next year. Probably two different models. From what I can decipher, there will be one model based on the new Ranger and a baby version that’s smaller. I think everyone is expecting the baby one to be strongly influenced by the original, very basic Bronco with single, round headlights and a huge ‘Bronco’ emblazoned on a wide bar across the grille. The Ranger-based one will have a front-end inspired by the F-150. Here are a few ideas I found online. At least one of the models will have the option of either two or four doors. And there will be a pickup version as well. They’ve got to fill the showrooms now that they’ve killed off nearly all their sedans. Of course, that gives them plenty of capacity to pump out even more trucks, CUVs, and SUVs. Maybe they’ll eventually build a CUV using Fiesta components for those who are looking for a city car to squeeze into tiny spaces.
  2. Such a cute little tale! No snow in Hawaii or coastal California must be the reason I don’t have a Sven of my own… ;–)
  3. Evo? People in Canada name their kids after cars too? Not just Kia or Lexus (like in my neighborhood)? ;–)

The cover model (Bill Henson) for William Higgins’ Sailor in the Wild? ;–) I’d have included an image of the DVD’s cover, but the Tumblr-approved near-nudity would not pass Google’s ban on the gluteus maximus and thus not allowed on GA.

The North Coast is not like the Bay Area. It’s not as bad as some other parts of California – and it’s certainly not even remotely like some parts of the US and the world. But while state laws protect LGBTQ+s, not all the residents of the region are open-minded. ;–)

Your quote sounded like Billy, but the Star Wars/Marvel/Disney references were more fun! ;–)

Yay, Dustin! I always wanted to hug him and protect him. And his red hair certainly didn’t hurt. ;–)
  8. I started reading @lomax61’s Stroking the Flame after seeing a note that reading its prequel, Kissing the Dragon was not essential. After I got halfway through the currently available chapters, I was informed that I should read the other book first because it provides useful background that makes the characters and situations make more sense. Literally, I could have read the second book without having read the first, but it makes more sense to read them both in order. It’s a bit like reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy without reading The Hobbit. You can do it and things make sense. But you get a fuller understanding of the situation by reading The Hobbit first. I can’t recall any series I read where it’s not important to read the first book before the others. Well, maybe The Chronicles of Narnia where the books are usually read out of chronological order. ;–)

    Chapter 44

Eric the Activist Prince! ;–) Lady Di knew that her celebrity would shine more light on the causes she supported merely because she was involved. Among her causes were People with AIDS and land mines. World opinion shifted because she cared. The Gay Princes’ visit to Montenegro will shine a spotlight on LGBTQ+ issues there. LGBTQ+ issues are in a flux in most of Eastern Europe. Many of the countries that were behind the Iron Curtain have very troubling reactions to LGBTQ+s. Poland and Russia are very unfriendly to LGBTQ+s. Hollywood celebrities are often derided for supporting causes. I’m sure there are a few who only speak up because their handlers believe they need to improve their image. But the cost of speaking up suggests to me that the vast majority truly believe what they say. The fact that they are famous does not mean their intellect has been shut off – no matter how dumb some of their movies and music might be. ;–)
  10. So you skipped the unnamed (by you) first book in the series? ;–)
  11. I read the first few books when they were initially published, but got bored wth them after a while…

This reminds me. There was a reference to Greg’s firearm. California is not like our neighbors, Arizona and Nevada – we have very strict gun regulations and he is no longer a law enforcement officer. I hope he is in compliance. Several of the extremely high profile shootings in California involved active Federal and local law enforcement agents who violated gun storage laws intended to prevent theft.

My older nephew’s diaper was the only one. His sister and two cousins were spared that indignity. I did not encourage their parents to rely on my services… ;–)

    Life Lessons

I Loved how well this was written. There are so many factions and governments around the world who want to keep the people ignorant so they can more easily control the population. The easiest way to keep people ignorant is to destroy schools (either literally or with massive funding cuts that effectively end up with the same result). Patriarchal societies have under-educated girls for centuries to prevent change (ie overthrow of male domination; logic and reason over tradition and superstition). I was an indifferent student. I remember being happy when there was the prospect of a teacher’s strike cancelling school (although my conservative parents would have forced us to cross the picket line in any case). And I went to school when California’s education system was still well-funded and still considered world class – the effects of Proposition 13’s devastating tax cuts had yet to take effect when I graduated.

I’m sorry I didn’t get that. That's my literalness in action again. And explains why I thought the final line was mocking ‘Icarus.’ ;–)

    Shattered

Upon rereading this tale, I’ve come to the conclusion that the protagonist is actually one of Cinderella’s stepsisters! Her unconventional beauty was long described as ‘ugly.’ She has much more incentive to retaliate against the Prince for his inability to look beyond the surface and see her true worth. Even after cutting off her toes to attempt to squeeze into the glass slipper, the Prince had the nerve to declare that she was not worthy of his love. How much bigger a sacrifice would she need to make to prove her love to the Charming One? The last straw was when the two boys couldn’t stop laughing at her pain! The results were inevitable… ;–) Accusing Cinderella of this gory and vicious crime is fake news!

I went in another direction and gave Wayne a Love because of how well he got us to respond to the various emotions of the chapter. Of course there are times when I use the yellow HaHa more as a Happy than a Laughing Reaction, so what do I know? ;–)

But Greg isn’t a chocoholic. A real chocoholic wouldn’t be caught dead using a powder packet! At the same time, I’m sure Greg would turn up his nose at instant coffee. Right, @Wayne Gray? ;–)

I must be a chocoholic too because I also noticed that. But I forgot to mention it by the time the chapter ended. There were too many other things to Comment on and it slipped my mind. ;–)
