This last week has been busy, not only with work, but in trying to figure out what the heck to buy people. I've only gotten 2 presents so far - one Thursday night for my work's Friday gift exchange (and thankfully, the person liked it), and one about 2 months ago that I saw as a cool stocking stuffer gift for Dan. I will be looking forward to next weekend, as it should mean the end of total business for a little bit :-)

It might have made sense if this was first

Just noticed your blog here - Pastel Cowboy is one of the few stories that I still try to keep track of on Nifty. Definately not a story for everyone, but I've been enjoying your writing style and plot in it so far. And - heh - though I am forced to live with an author, I personally have been really bad about letting other authors know when I've enjoyed their stories - so glad to see this easy way for me to let you know :-) -
I'm just amazed DK hasn't posted in here yet, laughing about your line of being able to train dogs
-
And good news - while the story is still up there, all of the reviews mentioning that this is plagarism have now popped up on the site as well...

I've sent the following message via PM to the people who had left a "review" for "Arizona" - there were two who weren't pm'able, but did have email so emailed the same message: ----- Hi, I saw your review of

Heh - I think Dom is the only person who can post a blog entry, and have three people simultaneously respond to it (check out the post times of the above replies).

Different thought - but is he out about being gay? I mean, have you two gone out and obviously are "with" each other? Or might this be his way of going on a romantic date with you, but ... I dunno... safer cause you're both with women. Though you might be glossing over how he put it to you, "date" doesn't necessarily mean sleep with... In the end though - ya, very weird.
-
k Vic - you can take the rational step too far... I mean, we're giving advice here, doesn't have to be something we'd follow ourselves. I mean, just because I personally haven't spoken to my own mom for over 6 years (due to a MAJOR fight that ... um... she still hasn't appologized over, not that she is ever likely to).... well....

Minor suggestion... um... maybe, at some point when you're calm and she's in a good mood, think about pulling her aside and talking to her about the curfew? I get where you are coming from - and ... she may not really be realizing what she is doing... seriously. You're right - in her mind, she is protecting you now that she has the vision of you going out at night and getting into all sorts of sexual situations. Reality is - if you wanted to, you could still be having sex in the middle of the afternoon. But parents don't always think rationally... But sitting her down, bringing up with her "Why the new curfew rules - you used to let me stay out later, don't you trust me?" could start a beneficial conversation that makes her think through that you aren't her little boy that she needs to protect (a VERY easy place for any parent to go to). I know it is so much easier to just think that she's wrong and want to run - but... given a chance, she may realize herself that she needs to adjust her thinking. It doesn't do you any damage, and could in fact illustrate to her that you are an adult that she needs to deal with - not dictate to. Even if you still decide to move out come December, at least you know that you tried to communicate with her. And... considering how well you write and hold yourself here - I'd be very surprised if this didn't result in a positive change in your relationship with her.

*COUGH* Um, OUR fault?!? Yes - some are very cute, including my ex and his new boyfriend. Some single too though... As for feeling alone - I get like that at times, especially if I'm watching the fireworks and Dan isn't there. Watching that show - you just want to hold or be held by someone - it is sooooo f*ing fantastic and need to share the experience. I am very glad Dan likes Disney as well - though... hmmm - he gets this very weird look when I mention I "just wanna pop into one of the shops for a second"... dunno why...

Well - the wonderful thing about the internet is how easily it turns a sarcastic joke into something with a life of it's own. After I jibed at Dan with: Dan came back with: And while I appreciate the PM's telling me I'm doing a nice thing... um... he was joking. His way of teasing that Trebs was gonna be out of the picture for a while for telling people not to read DK's stories - heheh. BTW - just the part about me going down was a joke - the part about his real grandmother making Grandma Jones look like a sweetheart - well...
-
You should talk to DK about getting one of his time travel devices... then you can write 13 and post it - and whenever you finish 12, go back and post it before you posted 13... PS If this makes sense to anyone - PLEASE - stop reading Dan's stuff.... you are WAY too far over the edge.... PPS. hehehehe

Agreed with the above - esp, I love the idea of using the anthology... It might have been better if it was emphasized how the person with the most right would win - like most, I figured everyone who entered would have all the right answers and it would be just a matter of random choice - and since I hadn't read most of the stories, I was going to be at a disadvantage. I mean - some of the authors used have written multiple long stories - that is a lot to go through... So - since I wasn't already reading all of them - I'm not going to win (or so I thought). One other suggestion though - to make it a true scavenger hunt - randomize the questions. Maybe two from each story, but mix them up so you don't know [totally made up example] "Who did Jack kiss in the graveyard?" - which story was that in... Possibly even three points for each question: 1 for correctly identifying which story it came from, and 2 for a full answer (1 for partial answer). That way you have a scale and people know - I can at least get some points for answering some of these right. And anthologies ARE a good way to expose readers to a whole bunch of new authors - Robert Silverberg published one called "Legends" a few years back - and it was my first introduction to Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan (I had previously purposely avoided that author), Stephen King's Dark Tower world, and George R.R. Martin. And though I didn't enjoy the King or Martin story that much, I have been an avid fan of Goodkind (though haven't read the latest books Chainfire nor Phantom) and Jordan (though - grrr - I still had the name first - jerk writers who use pseudonyms and prevent lovable wonderful people from being able to register their own name as a domain name).

Appeal: forced deportation, and separation of gay couple
Trebs replied to Formosa's topic in The Lounge
Haven't read the article yet, but just as a point of reference - this is also where a member of their Parliment, who had emigrated from Ethiopia, was also threatened with deportation because on her original documents, she misstated the reason for seeking asylum... A very popular politician and it raised a big furor - she resigned and decided not to fight and instead move to the US (or Canada?!?) and fight for women's rights there... -

So - I started using Librarything and LOVE it. I tried out a barcode scanner and it does work. So now, I'm going to use the laptop in the home office and scan the barcodes into notepad, then upload. Haven't bought the lifetime membership yet but will. Being able to catalog all of these books again will be fantastic - I used to have a personal database on my Apple //e that I wrote in pascal but other than a print-out, that list is gone. As to organization - most of our (DK and I consolidated our collections when we started living together) books are sci-fi/fantasy and sorted by author, within author by series, then in book order, or chronologically otherwise, though the hardbacks are on a separate bookcase than the paperbacks. There are of course other books, but they are so small in number in comparison. Oh - and if anyone wants to look at my list (only 2 books online so far, will put more in after next week when houseguests are gone and I have full access to the office again). My username there is Hermit9 - which is a nick I've used since 1983...

I never thought I'd get a piercing of any kind, nor a tattoo... Like some others have said - totally a pain-wimp here... In fact, just seeing some piercing make me wince. But then... I met "someone who shall be nameless" - who had both ears pierced and a tattoo on each leg. And wrote a cool (and slightly prophetic) story in which his two main characters get matching tattoos. Well - I wasn't that adventurous - but did want to do something to celebrate us officially living together - so we got matching earrings and got our right ears pierced the day he moved in last year. The earrings are triangular shaped amethysts (anyone who knows me, knows I love purple - about half of my shirts are some variation of a purple color). So purple representing me, piercing representing him, and triangular representing gay triangles... PS The experience was really good - we went to a tattoo/piercing place because they have the best reputation as far as cleanliness and quality. And the guy who did it was fantastic - very informative, totally had no problem with me wanting Dan to hold my hand when I got mine - talked me through the whole thing. I thanked him afterwards - he mentioned about coming back anytime to which: NOO - um, I mean, thanks, but your work was great, but not really looking at doing this ever again. Glad I did it this time, but once is enough...

Is it finally my turn?
Trebs commented on LittleBuddhaTW's blog entry in Little Buddha's Stone Grotto
GREAT news David (about the guy) - and good luck :-) Worst case - even if no sparks fly, it sounds like you will have a good nearby friend. -
Though... considering how cute both Kevin and David are... umm... Have ya thought about meeting each other?!? ;-) Failing that - ya, if a "cute" stalker... um, I mean fan.... asks ya to go to a movie - give it a try

Hmmm... should there be a thread on this in the Phone Call forum? heheh

I'm a bit of an odd-sort (no comments DK)... While I use the desktop computer with IE to typically read the forums and blogs, I like to read stories via my pocket PC. My pocket PC has wireless, and if, like last night, I'm going to be somewhere I can't access the internet for a while (cause I'm gonna be on a plane), then I do also cut/paste a story or two into pocket Word to read later. As to type of internet connection, we're lucky that the area we're in has fiber. A local company, Surewest, has high-speed internet/cable/phones in our area via fiber - it's one of the reasons HP located a complex nearby in Roseville.

Considering that you made a trivia question about what kind of food was brought to them in TLW seems like you are forgetting a few other times... and during the camping trip... and the telling of the previous camping trip... and all of the sausages and roast beef that was eaten in the Valentine's story... and the chocolate cupcake with green icing that starts off With Trust... not to mention a certain drink in Service... Just means that Dom is good at portraying a full and varied life of all of his characters... esp the ones with four legs (who, BTW, never got any sex though there was some sex in that story).

Dan had to open up this blog entry quickly to find out why I kept chortling and laughing out loud...
