I believe, for tonight at least, the Cardinals hopes rest with Michael Wacha. If he equals his other post season appearances, it won't be a cake-walk for the Red Sox. It's been a great series. Tonight's game will only add to that.

I don't believe there's a Division Series MVP, but if there were, I'd have to give it to Wainwright in the Cardinals/Bucs series. He was simply magnificent. Wacha taking a no-hitter into the 8th wasn't too shabby either. Needless to say, the NL Championship series is shaping up real fine!

Just for the record, Mariano did announce his retirement at the beginning of the 2012 season. Then he had that season ending injury while shagging fly balls during batting practice - something he did quite regularly. Not wanting to end his career that way, he announced he'd be back in 2013. Mariano has had a good year. He currently stands 3rd in the AL with 44 saves Jim Johnson (BAL) is the leader with 48. I don't believe there's a baseball fan anywhere who wouldn't admit that he'll be a first ballot entry into Cooperstown.

Definiely agree that these 3 teams will be in the playoffs. It's been pretty much this way since the All Star break. One of the highlights of this season. I don't have a favourite here, but if I were a betting man, I'd have to go with the Cardinals based on their playoff experience. Over in the AL, the "race" is for the 2 wildcard spots. Tampa Bay and Texas have them right now but there are 4 teams who are doing the "nipping". Cleveland is a half-game back, Baltimore is 2 games off the pace, Kanas City is 3 and the Yankees are 3.5 back.

The first time watching that video I was paying attention to the butt action and never noticed that Philips made the tag. Really an excellent play. Poor Villar, not only did he get "butted", but was tagged out as well. Thanks for this one, Mike!

I do feel badly for Joe Girardi, the Yankees field manager. For a while there he had to set up a triage area next to the dugout.

Yet another hate-on thread about Bieber. This is so old. Nothing better to do? It's rather ironic that a site, which had to cancel political discussion for all the nonsense it was causing, permits hate-ons. If similar statements appearing here had been made about a GA member, there would be warnings and the like but it seems to be open season on non-members.
