You are truly an evil little man.... I had already thought of Jardines making an appearance as the guide but did not think even you would do something so dastardly to poor innocent Granger... I have to say that I wonder if Granger isn't about to find out about Travers and Teasdale; I have long suspected that there was something there. Your ability to weave your story through the tangled web of history is just remarkable. This is one of the real talents that seperate you from so many others that practice their gift online. Can't wait to see what happens next....

Great chapter with some interesting interplay between Fathers and Sons... I have to admit that Will and Brad can really push each other's buttons and great catch on Will's part to realize that and make a move to back down... Will be interesting to see who Will or Brad ends up with on this trip... LOL...

Hmmm... Well, I certainly found this a happy suprise when I returned from dinner and movie... I have to think that Granger is right about the problems that the opium trade will/did bring to China and others. I have to say I am a little dissapointed that Chartley choose to go off and leave Granger. And I have to wonder who this mysterious guide is going to turn out to be??? Excellent chapter and can't wait to see where Granger is off to next...

Well, I am not ready to write Tony off quite yet; although I do think he needs to spend some considerable time on a comfortable couch with someone truly objective to his situation... Tony is very much a product of his past and is having a harder than usual time figuring out who he is, what he wants, and where he is going in life. I agree that Will can and probably will stay involved with Tony to some degree but he won't put up with being anyone's doormat. Not sure that I see Mason as someone that will be around for more than this story; he does strike me as interesting but his and Will's interaction was in that brief period of meeting and first impressions where it is very easy to cover up any problems with smiles and sunshine. Will has so many people already in his sphere of influence that I am not sure there is room for another majore player. While I don't think Will handled the situation in the last chapter appropriately at all; I do think he did better at stepping back and deciding to do something that he wanted just because he wanted to. He went with Mason because it was light and fun and no drama allowed. Will needs to start making a decision about why he gets involved with someone of the men/boys that he does. Some of the choices make me really question his ability to think farther than the next sex act...
-
Not sure I would have ever called Shania country but do love all your choices for this chapter except the one previously noted hatred of all things Beyonce...

Mason enters stage right as Tony exits stage left??? I think Will really enjoyed his time with Mason but have to wonder how much of the real person he got to see... It is easy to keep a facade up for a few days and make everything sunshine and lollypops but harder to do over a length of time. I sort of doubt we really have seen the last of Tony. I think Tony needs to spend some time on a couch talking about his problems with someone objective. He needs to decide what kind of person he really wants to be. Great chapter and really enjoyed the calmer interlude at the end...

I laughed till I damn near pissed my pants... God, you are brilliant...

Calvert performed above expectations, at least from me. He handled himself well enough but without that certain something that Granger seems to have. Gatling did exceedingly well, the fact that he had the Spanish crew practicing the guns may have saved the day somewhat, although the Santa Clarita should have been able to handle most of the problems, as they did. Maybe Calvert can fall madly in love with Gatling and Gatling will realize that Calvert isn't so bad; and they can be together and leave Granger well enough alone....
-
Well, I guess overall Calvert did okay... I do respect how he handled the situation with the Spanish Captain, even though he doesn't have the flourish that Granger would. He also did make sure that Gatling was aware of how he wanted to work things so that the ships could work in tandem to hold off any force; this was good forsight on his part. I was very impressed that Gatling had been drilling the Spanish crew on the guns to make sure if something happened that they would be better prepared to assist the Santa Clarita. I have always thought that Gatling showed great promise. I actually think maybe he and Calvert should become lovers and realize that they are meant only for each other... LOL... I hope there isn't any repercussions for anyone in regards to how they had to handle the situation with the Vulture. The officers on that ship got exactly what they deserved although the men may not have deserved their fate...

Somers is the cousin of Sir Phillip Kerry. They had a very hot threeway with Granger on his trip back from the battle of St Vincent. I think Granger cares deeply for Cavendish but I don't think he is his person he is destined to be with. Cavendish will be someone that Granger always cares about and on a certain level, they are extremely well suited for each other. The problem is that whomever Granger ultimately ends up with, along with Caroline, will have to challenge him in some way and I don't see Cavendish doing that. I thought from the moment he was introduced that Chartley would be the man for Granger. I loved Travers best but had he lived they could never have been together in the long run. There was just to many things pulling them apart. Chartley and Granger have a certain spark that for me at least Granger is missing with Cavendish. p.s. I don't think Chartley is as old as Travers was. My impression is that Chartley and Bertie are probably the same age and Travers would have been a year or two older...

I really can't see Tony being killed off at this point. We have all had those people in our lives that drive us crazy but there is something about them that always pulls us back into their sphere of influence. I don't know that Will and Tony will spend a decade doing the will they or won't they dance but I can't see them really disappering out of each other's lives either. They are just at very different points in their respective lives and are not in a place to be good together right now; that doesn't mean that ten years from now they won't being have a ceremony and pledging undying love for one another. Right now, Will is just more mature and sure of himself than Tony; the problem is as his actions in this chapter proved, he isn't as mature or as in control of his life and reactions as he thought he was... Will is very extremely mature for his age but he is just shy of being fifteen and just doesn't have the experience to handle or view each situation in a rational and calm manner. I think that methodwriter is right; the cultures with heavy machismo often encourage the men to cheat on whomever they are with. The problem is that they view the partner doing the same thing in a completely negative context. Tony has a double issue of being brought up in a culture that teaches him it is okay to cheat but his partner can't; plus he has the history of his father's behaviour and how that affected everything in the early years of his life...

Hmmm, all were interesting picks... I really always liked Duran Duran and Toni Braxton is great but I hate Destiny's Child and truly despise Beyonce Knowles. She is a great example of someone with little to no talent making it big by having a big ass and willing to stab anyone and everyone in the back....
-
Well, I loved the writing and how this moved the story along but this was a bitch of a chapter... I hate it but Will and Tony are in such different places in their live that they can't be together at this time. I am not sure they will ever be in the same place and the same time but that might happen in the future. I hate that Will acted out in a manner that was somewhat tied to how Tony was handling everything. I think if Will had just gone on the trip and not messed around with anyone, including Tony; it would have sent Tony a much louder message. Will is more mature than Tony but maybe not as mature as he or I thought he was before this...

Well, I have to think that Westie is right and that Granger will find a way to play a part in the Battle of the Nile. This would give him a way to claim some additional glory and get a hold of a ship that would be able to intercept Bacchante and rip those letters from Maidstone's hands himself. I personally hope that Chartley and Granger use this trip to realize that they are meant for each other and are truly the other's soulmate. Calvert will survive, Mark spoiled that in a review response, but his latest assignment will undoubtedly enable him to get another command and he did so well in the Far East that might be a good posting for him again... I actually sort of see Granger missing Maidstone and Caroline waiting on the dock for him with a duelling pistols. I am not sure that Maidstone is a match for Caroline when she is trying to protect George and the family...

Gay Porn Heroin, I loved it but if I am going to be pricked by something I would prefer it not be a needle... LOL... I really enjoyed this chapter. Granger was able to come up with a plan that might really work, provided they move swiftly enough and suffer no additional delays. Bertie is going to return to India and get his new assignment, a posting in China perhaps? Somers is staying on the island and will work closely with the Dutch resident. Chartley, Granger's true soul mate, will be traveling back to England overland with Granger and Winkler and a studly young American.... I do wonder about Calvert's delay. I hope nothing unexpected happened when he and Santa Clarita encountered the Vulture... Can't wait for the next part of the adventure...

I would feel just terrible when the bullet actually went through Maidstone and killed Calvert as well... I am sure Granger could arrange a lovely military honor for him....

This was one of the things I really missed not having access to my computer. I could get the stories but to get onto any of the forums on my phone was just such a pain... I really missed seeing what music you selected for each chapter. So glad to see you use Tapestry by Carole King, one of my all time favorites, and I agree about Robbie Williams, he was quite good; plus anything with REM was just perfect...

Well, I am so glad to have the first confrontation with Dana behind Tony. I just don't for a minute believe it will be the last one. Dana strikes me as the kind of person that believes no one could do better than her. That kind of person always seeks revenge when it ends, especially when it is done in public like this one was. I thought Will handled everything from Dana to Rick to Mason really well and maturely. Will is going to have to be the one that decides if the drama involved will be worth having a relationship with Tony. If Will does stay in St Louis for a couple of weeks, he may have a better idea of what is ahead between him and Tony. I have to wonder if Tony does go ahead and come out, if he won't go through a slut period. I have seen that more than once when someone that hide who they were for a long time finally comes out, they just go wild sleeping with everyone. It doesn't always last very long but it isn't that unusual of an event.

I am pretty sure that Stef is who introuduced Cody to Jackie. If I remember correctly she was more Stef's friend that Greg's. Greg never seemed to care for Jackie but Stef had been friends with her since he was involved with Peter, this was before Stef and Greg got together.
-
Well, I am glad to see that Dana was dismissed but have to wonder if this is the last we will see of her. She strikes me as the kind of person that will be vindictive about the breakup and will work at seeing that Tony get's punished for not realizing that she was the best that he could ever do... LOL... Not shocked at all about Tony and Rick, I thought that Will handled the situation really well. I think that Will is going to have to make the decision on whether the roller coaster ride with Tony is worth what they might have in the end. If Will stays and spends some time in St Louis with Tony, he might have a better idea if the relationship is going to be worth the trouble. Unless Mason is just much more intuitive then everyone else, I would think that not everyone would be suprised about Tony. Will may have been able to deflect Mason somewhat but I doubt he really believed Will's explanation. Great chapter and can't wait to see what Mark has coming down the pipeline.

Well, I loved the latest chapter of Odyssey... The writing as always is masterfully done and the tension developed really helped move the chapter and even the story forward. I have a feeling that the Bacchante isn't as far away as everyone seems to think. I have to wonder if Maidstone was willing to leave because he thought that with the Vulture out there and the Bacchante they might take the Manilla treasure ship, he just didn't know it had already been done. I have a feeling that Calvert, loathe that I am for it to happen, may prove the hero here. I have to wonder if the Bacchante and the Vulture didn't end up meeting up with the Santa Clarita and Calvert. Calvert would be the senior officer and could order them back to port. I am not sure that he really has the authority to over-ride Bertie but I could see him doing it for Granger. I think that Granger is going to remove Bertie and will appoint Somers as the new Governor. Somers already has a very good relation with the new Dutch authority on the island and has the standing to be accepted in the position. It is time for Bertie to move on to someplace to cause Granger and the others even more headaches... LOL... I am sure that no matter what happens, Mark is going to provide us with some excellent chapters to come. We will all be waiting with baited breathe on the next one.

I know it isn't nice to hate anyone but.... Dana really deserves it. I just knew she would pull something like this, I will almost promise you that she knew Will was coming into town somehow. I have a feeling that this float trip is going to be more explosive than Tony thought it was going to be when he asked Will to come. I have a feeling that by the time they get down the river that only Will or Dana is standing, and guess who I pick... I have only been to St Louis a couple of times so only the Arch and Laumeier Sculpture Park are familiar to me. Laumeier must be at least a 100 acres and is just something that is unique and really a must see anytime you are in St Louis and have the time to explore it. One more week in the wilderness and then I will be back so I can post in the forums. I can't wait to find someone to argue with about something... LOL Great chapter and can't wait for the actual float trip...

Mark Arbour, you are a bad bad man... I am sure that Granger will survive because if he didn't the series would end and I would have to find you and terrible things my befall you... I agree with Somers that Maidstone is retiring from the field a little to easily but I cannot see a reason why, I am sure you have one though. Chartley is doing all he can to save George, and I know not everyone agrees but I really do think and believe that they are the two truly destined to end up together, of course with Caroline as well... LOL... Bertie is happy that he is staying but I do have a feeling that when Granger recovers and Calvert arrives that will not be the case. I hope he is ready for that... I have to wonder with Somers so involved with the Dutch represenative if he wouldn't make the perfect new British Governor. Well, we will see what you have planned in that devious little mind of yours... Great chapter and great story, keep up the good work...

Another lovely little chapter, not much but sex going on but it was interesting at least... I sort of like the Jake character but don't know how that would play out. I was sort of suprised about Stef taking Will to the club, doesn't he remember how the place got closed down before? Of course, Stef was the one that made sure it happened but even so... I do think Tim is right, that one sentence seemed to have a hint of future problems... I don't think Dana is going to just let Tony go but I don't know how much Will is going to be willing to push him either... I will be back to civilization on June 1st, so I can make longer rambling rants in the forum then... Will being back was okay, but I already miss JP...

You are an evil evil man Mr Arbour... I have to believe that in the end everything will work out but without Granger recovering, Maidstone is in the best position possible. I have to wonder how much help Bertie and Chartley will be but everything will depend on Dr. Jackson being able to save Granger; the question can anyone save him from Maidstone's wrath???
