Another great chapter! It's early and apparently I've not had enough coffee yet, but as I was reading this chapter Brodie and Rachel morphed (in my mind) into Gomez and Morticia Addams. I'm sure their dialogue is what triggered it, but now I can't 'unsee' it. Sue me. Edit to add: It could be that the photos in this chapter also bear a passing resemblance to John Astin.

I worked in corrections for 28 years and witnessed numerous incidents of hate and abject cruelty. I'd have to say that 98% of the folks I dealt with on a day-to-day basis were far more rational and considerate than these folks. I can't help but wonder what corner of hell you were raised in.

And now for the trigger of this morning's psychotic break...

Chapter 1: The car that purrs
GLH commented on Kileoli's story chapter in Chapter 1: The car that purrs
I have both IC and electric powered vehicles and I must say the LEAF doesn't purr. Aside from the little bit of noise from the tires rolling on the road and a bit of wind noise, it makes no sound whatsoever. Even for a glorified golf cart that LEAF is an absolute blast to drive. -
Chapter 1: The car that purrs
GLH commented on Kileoli's story chapter in Chapter 1: The car that purrs
For those of us of a certain age, a "purring" car meant it was running very well, like the steady purring of a cat. Geez. I couldn't even get past the first line without comment. -
The Three of Us, We’ve Always Been So Misaligned
GLH commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in The Three of Us, We’ve Always Been So Misaligned
Love the story, but your beta readers need to pay closer attention. It's "fateful", not "faithful". There. Now my OCD is satisfied.- 36 comments

[Memory, Junior Year, October] – Where Have You Been?
GLH commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in [Memory, Junior Year, October] – Where Have You Been?
"I know I'm only giving you more and more questions... but that's the way it is!" LOL! This is like spending a week in the Trump administration. Utter chaos. I'll somehow manage to get through it. 😬😬😬 -
Would I be correct in defining "spontanasity" as a contraction of "spontaneous tenacity"? If so, it struck me as a particularly 'Jonah' trait and awesome word play.

Oxford Blue/Silver, hands down in this trio. It's funny, the Sapphire Blue is similar to my own car, but the interior is what turned me off of it. My last car was a white Chrysler 300S with black leather interior. It was like riding in a cave, even with the panoramic roof shade wide open. My current Highlander has buckskin colored leather and is much more airy and open feeling. I've always liked the dark blue/buckskin color combination since Lincoln introduced the 1977 Mark V Bill Blass Edition. My perfect car is white with tan interior and I've only owned one that had both, my 2012 Charger I bought out of frustration for being unable to find that color combo in an E350.

Quite frankly, I really didn't care for any of the three, I was just trying to be polite. 😎 Yes, the Sunset Copper is a bit garish, I'll readily admit, but I'm a sucker for lighter/brighter colors. The Midnight Sapphire/Oxblood is quite elegant, but in a 'stuffy old money' sort of way. As much as softer shades of green are one of 'my colors', I wore it in uniform for 26 years, so I tend to avoid them like the plague for some odd reason.
-
And yet that exact one was my 'first impression' pick... Just sayin'. I'm stickin' with 'Sunset Copper'. It just looks right. 😄

Another of my favorites that I've read many times over the years. I can't wait to see where you'll take us in the Epilogue!

I've read this story many times over the years. It's just as enthralling today as it was the first time.

Ah, sibling love...🤣

It's funny that this story popped into my mind the other day and voila! A new chapter appears after 2+ years!

Who is Travis Buck's biological father?
GLH replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
The notification for the poll showed up first in my notification list with the chapter posting next in line, so the poll notification had me on high alert for an Easter Egg and I thought I'd found it with this statement by Will concerning Scott Slater right off the top: "It was funny that he had been a little freaked out when he’d met Travis, but within fifteen minutes he was back to being his fun, playful self." Based on that statement anything but a vote for Scott Slater was a waste of time... Or not. I guess Mark will make that determination in the next chapter or so. -
I'm generally not a fan of supernatural/paranormal sci-fi, but dammit, you got me hooked here! Keep up the great work and I'll be waiting with bated breath for each installment.

I have to say this story really hits too close to home. Like, right next door. I live next door to Cindy. Really. Except my neighbor Cindy, much like Luke's mother, is as much a sanctimonious ass as her fundamentalist Baptist minister husband, Dennis.

An auspicious beginning to what I'm sure will become another awesome drsawzall tale.

What the actual...??? Talk about a 540°.
-
Not at all. I have to admit that I've not had a character just absolutely pi$$ me off like Jackson has in a long time, though.
-
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Jackson is an entitled ass. Full stop.

I grew up in a little country store just a couple hours or so southwest of you in Southern Illinois so I know of what you speak. For us it was deer season every year and watching the city folk drive by with every kind of livestock imaginable tied to their vehicles thinking they'd bagged a trophy deer. And then there are the locals that were always good for their moments. Like the guy that had a high-speed come apart over my giving him 9¢ ($0.09, nine cents) too much change back as if he'd been truly and deeply offended. Those were the days.
