I continue to be surprised that Hollie and Elise are still in it!

Granger's innovation in fitting the iron tanks for his new ship and personally supervising the initial installation shows his dedication to his craft. His assessment of the one-armed sailor is probably just spot on, but his taking the man probably made him another loyal sailor who will follow him anywhere. His two LT's including the surprising Robey are 2/3's of that triangle with one spot left to fill. His cabin sounds well thought out and up to his usual demanding standards. His appearance before the King and his Privy Council, his trip to Brentwood to tell Caroline, and getting his ship ready provide for a busy agenda. Love the new book so far!

What a great start! Granger, perhaps soon to be Lord Granger, is making his ship his own in practical and innovative ways. His crew is starting to come together as well. Hopefully, the summons to appear before the King and his Privy Council will turn out as his father predicted and not cause George too many problems with more senior naval personnel. And so the adventure is beginning.....

Interesting that you are from Philly and never heard of Dick Clark. Ask any of the older guys in the old neighborhood and they will give you an earful. His Philly show went national on ABC television in 1956 and was a rite of passage for millions of kids for years! RIP Dick Clark

Wow! I was fortunate in that we could afford for my wife to be a stay-at-home mom until the kids were in school and then she worked part-time in our school district and was off when they were off. You guys have a much tougher road to hoe and I don't envy you this at all. Just hang in there and try to not be upset in front of the baby. Hopefully things are now resolved, but if not, there are other nannies out there and it just takes time to find one who is simpatico with your situation and little Q's well-being!

Chapter 30 is up and should add more fuel to the discussion about the relative merits of the parents vs. Will! Don't you just love it!

Another escalation in the generational war where both sides talk at each other but not to each other. The smartest thing Will could do would be to co-opt the "martinet" by actually talking to him and explaining everything from his POV. Ryan's reaction to his first gay penetration was predictable, but somehow disappointing after Will took the bullet for him over the flask of booze. School's often look for ways to make examples of students and Brad and Robbie could at least have asked for more details rather than just blow Will off as if he were lying. Having said that, Will is a handful and provokes some of his own problems.

We've seen Brad and Robbie through teenage, college and early and now middle adult years. They have led interesting lives to date and I expect that will continue. They have had monumental fuck-ups in their relationship and have come through a lot. Brad has always had more of a clue than Robbie, but Robbie is more sentimental and perhaps a little more likeable. The fact that they are making mistakes as parents seems pretty normal to me. Most parents screw things up. Just ask the kids. Kids screw-up more, but they get a pass because they are kids. Nobody is perfect. I suspect that Brad and Robbie have some issue not yet on the reader's radar nor on Will's that is a major distraction, but that is just speculation. In due time I suspect some explanation will emerge, but for now the drama continues and I for one am enjoying it.

Chapter 29 is all about Will who is not being very helpful in resolving his problem with his dad and pops. The two dads are the adults, but not so much. Will does help Ryan with a problem.

Brad and Robbie are the adults but not so much. Will is being an annoying little shit about his family and isn't really doing much of anything to help the situation either. Will was nice to Ryan and Ryan enjoyed it.

Murphy's law at work again! Sorry for the chapter loss CJ. But as you probably have it memorized verbatim, just retyping it in will probably be a good typing execise for you. Seriously, I do appreciate all the work you do to bring us your stories. Thanks! Dave

The words I dislike the most are swear or cuss words uttered or written and repeated like "um" just to be filling up space. A well placed epithet employing a curse word in an appropriate setting is one thing, but the constant use of gutter language reminds me of 10 year old kids trying to impress each other. I find it annoying and usually tune elsewhere.

Chess players are always studying gambits and conventional and unconventional moves trying to play the game at least six moves ahead. Unlike CJ's stories, there is never a CLIFFHANGER, but there are traps, false moves, and strict adherence to the rules. CJ has laid some traps and made some false moves but has never strictly adhered to his own rules or else the story would be finished already! Of course that's what happens in a character driven story. (The characters sometimes take over!)

Saying it to your lover on special occasions is fine. Saying it all the time is like saying hello. Love really requires that you show it. Being nice, cheerful, thoughtful, loyal, loving and demonstrative is more important to me. In other words say it with a kiss!

Like the story, but needs editing.

I keep a clean pair of boxers and a tee shirt handy, but I move around too much in my sleep to be comfortable wearing clothes that get bunched up, so it's in the nude for me.

As I patiently await the next chapter.....

Odyssey: A long series of wanderings or adventures, especially when filled with notable experiences, hardships, etc Somehow, I think this book in the Bridgemont series will more than fulfill the meaning of its title. Sir George's character and very mettle seems likely to be sorely tested.

The story is moving right along. Good job!

Good to see Book 6 has arrived. Having said that, it seems like a terrible idea to send Teasdale to replace Bertie and to send him on Granger's ship seems like a doubly bad idea. If Teasdale has become mentally unbalanced, it could be progressive as in Syphilis. No wonder this prospect has caused Granger to express his foreboding feelings.

As happy and healthy as your daughter looks in all her pictures, I think anyone who thinks you guys were doing anything wrong is in serious need of a reality check. As much as 'lil Q has changed in the past 6 and half months, she will continue to change more in the next six months. Just wait until she gets mobile, first scooting, then crawling, then walking, then running. Oh you guys are in for some fun times. Almost makes me wish I could go through it again at nearly 65. NOT!

Chapter 28 is all from Wade's viewpoint and is a fun chapter to read, especially for dirty old men. One small kernal of information was about Will in that Wade revealed that he tried to have a conversation with Brad about Will but Brad wasn't hearing it. I think Wade should put a little more thought into making his sister's life uncomfortable beyond his little foray at the end of the chapter.
