I think a lot of PC users may be jumping in if the MS Surface is priced right and performs as advertised. Being able to synch your desktop, laptop, tablet and MS phone address books etc would be a boon for those of us that can't quite force ourselves to pay the Apple premium and are not really enamored by Google's Android either. I have not previewed Win8 and am intrigued by your comment about using the mouse and keyboard. Are they less responsive or do they behave oddly that has a bit of a learning curve?

Andy's third set was shaky. It would be a real morale booster for the Brits if the Scot were to win! Especially with the Olympics getting set to start.

Hopefully it will spark further investment and revival in that part of London. I think especially tall buildings are interesting but I wouldn't want to work or live in one. The fact that it is provoking discussion as to it's striking appearance is good. It seems I recall the Gherkin did so when it was built as well.

Unlike some, I never assume or put much faith in rumors or innuendo. The fact that Mr. Cooper has publicly acknowledged his orientation is news. IMHO everyone has a right to choose to keep their private life private as it is really no one else's business.

Zombie--you seem to forget that all the Puritans left England and came to America! Bill--It will be interesting to see if the media tries to sensationalizes this and hounds Anderson relentlessly. My observation is that he has always been rather reserved and non-judgmental. I guess it would be too much to ask that he be treated likewise.

The poor purser. His station seems to correspond to what we would call middle class and he also seems to have those middle class sensibilites. Being British, I suspect he usually minds his own business. He comes to his captain bearing terrible news about the ship's surgeon and has to describe how the vital crewman was apprehended and then must sit stonefaced as the captain and his Lt. get the giggles like a couple of kids. Can't you just picture it.

Well that chapter ended with another pain in the ass episode of having to rescue the ship's surgeon. The return of Calvert is going well as I expected. Now if we can just get the mutiny in the Nore behind them, find out who will replace Bertie and get underway.....

Families are our toughest critics and comparisons between siblings can be awfully unfair. I can relate, but I also must suggest an attitude adjustment. I'd ignore the lonely old man that is making you feel like a failure and just deal with him only as necessary. Then I'd get off my butt and finish my degree and then start really hunting for job in a field of your choice. If it means dad has to go into a senior facility and his house sold to pay for it, so be it. You have a right to a life and you got to let go of all the emotional baggage before you can feel fulfillment. Good luck and get to it. Times a wasting! -
