With bigger problems to solve, it seems poor admiral Wilcox is not the go to guy for Lord Spencer. The Spithead mutiny appears to be the backdrop and Lord Granger is called upon to accompany Spencer. Interesting bit of history. But I believe Wilcox is in command of the Nore, and that subsequent mutiny was handled more traditionally. Nice job of working all this into the plot line.

Circumnavigation (99+21) The Grand Feint
Daddydavek replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
Does fiction really have rules anymore? And even if one were to argue that it does, anyone could find dozens of examples to show how the so-called rules are routinely broken, ignored or even mocked. For the sake of the story, readers always have to suspend their belief systems to some extent even in a long drawn out saga that tries to stay internally consistent like CJ's. So in a nutshell: What's the big deal? -
You may be right, but the voting public who actually dial in are fickle and it could be any one of them. Somehow, I think it will be Joshua.

Friday, waiting for Saturday night or Sunday for my next Granger fix..... The last chapter left me wondering if George and his merry band would avoid the press gang and make it back to the ship without incident. I trust MA will make it interesting.

Jeff may end up being a former friend with benefits if he becomes a wedge between Wade and Matt IMHO. He is smart, capable and a good aide for Stef. I think it was telling that when Wade finished talking to Matt and went back to bed, that he did not wake up Jeff. I am waiting for the next move from the real villain in the piece, Wade's mom....

The following exchange in chapter 38 was my favorite because it sounded so natural and in character for both of them. However, to get all that into a few lines was masterful. Great job! “I think Matt is more like you,” I told him. “I think that if he gets upset, he needs to work it out with the person, and not so much on his own.” “Another genetic flaw,” he said, but in a pleasant way. I’d learned that Robbie was really proud of Matt, and liked it when they shared traits. “I don’t think it’s a flaw at all. It’s probably a lot healthier than locking yourself away and trying to solve all the problems on your own.” “You think that’s why Will ran away?” I thought about that for a minute, until the irony of me doing that, while talking about the need to think more openly, struck me as amusing. “I think Will ran away to make a point, and to make sure things changed. If he were like you, he probably would have stuck around and fought it out. I think he actually tried to do that first.” “I guess he did,” Robbie said. “When it got to the point where he wasn’t getting anywhere, where he was beating his head against the wall, he took more drastic action.” I didn’t see that as a flaw in Will, I saw that as a strength.

No surprise that Hollie was eliminated. Phillip sang much better this week. Jessica is a judge's favorite and of course so is Joshua. Jennifer Lopez sang a song from her upcoming tour and it was glitzy with all the bare chested boy candy dancing around her, but the song was otherwise forgettable.

Chapter 8 A Road Once Traveled...
Daddydavek commented on Naptowngirl's story chapter in Chapter 8 A Road Once Traveled...
OMG another cliff-hanger. You truly had me, leading me down the garden path with all the revelations and then you suddenly yanked the path out from under me.... I like the story already. So you don't have to leave me hanging and waiting for the next installment with baited breath! -
People marry for many reasons, including gays. Being comfortable and able to relax with your mate is an important part of the relationship. It seems you have this idealized concept of romantic love and I guess my first question is whether you ever thought you were romantically head over heels in love. But I suspect not. You also say you are not sexually attracted to your good friend. You didn't say whether he was attracted to you. I can tell you that most people who tell you that they are madly in love with their mates, will also tell you that their mates sometimes drive them insane. Relationships, even romantic ones, are never really perfect. Working toward making them perfect is part of life's journey or pilgrimage. Your profile says you are in your middle thirties and your post indicates you are starting to feel it is time to settle down. My final question is can you commit to someone else?

Amanda is a piece of work and very easy to want to punch out.

Poor Will cried buckets full over the past week or so, so it was really heartwarming to see Robbie finally react to the human side of events and make his peace. I got a little teary-eyed too. Mark does spin a yarn.

Robbie finally got it.

Thanks for the latest chapter. If anything, I fear Arthur T. is becoming more unstable. A nice chapter, but it would have been nice to have a little more description of the Abbey and they work accomplished.

Since the current book is "Odyssey" I think the problems occur on the journey. Both ways! A voyage such as this during that time period was no sure thing and a resourceful captain and crew were essential for successful return.

Jonas has a great job if you can deal with the less than mundane order requests! I suspect the date will be interesting and Jonas will meet some really "different" clients eventually. Two thumbs up!

Skylar was eliminated last night. Phillip wasn't even in the bottom 2, despite his lackluster performances. The surprise has been Hollie who is always in the bottom 2 or 3 and yet manages to scrape by.

Continuing the manic pace of posting chapters to Paternity, Chapter 36 is up and it ends very sweetly. So for all of you that like conflict and acrimony, the only dressing down in the chapter is reserved for Robbie. I really liked the chapter. But as the world turns, I am sure we are in for some more bumps in the road. However, I suspect the manic posting phase is about ready to slow down to a more sustainable rate.

Never let it be said that Mark Arbour doesn't have a sentimental bone in his body. This chapter ended with me all teary-eyed and mushy feeling. I'd rate it a 10!

Can someone explain this entire Saints' Bounty Scandal to me?
Daddydavek replied to W_L's topic in The Lounge
There may be more than the germ of truth in what James S. said above. However, while everyone knows American football is a violent sport, guys usually don't go out there with the intention of incapacitating someone and forcing them out of the game.....And that is what happened. It is true the NFL Commish office is making an example out of the Saints with unprecedented fines and suspension in order to send the message that intentionally going out to "kill" one of your opponents is out of bounds. Was it out of proportion? Maybe. Will it get the point across. Probably. Will that have a deletorious effect on the product? Maybe. -
So what books do you remember that had a big impression on you? Too many but if I had to pick a series of books it would be the Hornblower series by C.S. Forester

My money is on Joshua or Jessica. I'm tired of Phillip. Skylar done good and so did Hollie but the other two really sang it for me.

Chapter 7 I Think I Can. I Think I Can...
Daddydavek commented on Naptowngirl's story chapter in Chapter 7 I Think I Can. I Think I Can...
Christian is very lucky and based on the tag line for the next chapter, still has some painful news to get through. Great job and I can't wait for more! -
Circumnavigation (99+20) Queen's Gambit Accepted

Sanchez wants Trevor dead because his people have already blown their chances in the Canal and again when he was hit by the pirates and that makes him look inept in front of a pretty hardnosed crowd. Bridget turning up in Australia is only a plus if it results in her spectacular and very public downfall and for that we shall have to wait and see. B'stoke is an assassin and deserves to go down in flames as well. And I hope he burns! Sanchez is a slimy piece of fecal material and deserves to be poleaxed and drawn and quartered, but they don't do those things anymore. I can only hope he and his cohorts are spectacularly blown to bits in deft and daft mishandling of explosives. I too am hoping for a speedy resolution of the many remaining threads in this epic. -
The manic poster wrote in reply to a review about the fast posting schedule: Aww. I love coddling you. ;-) Seriously, I knew we'd have to hyperpost through this part of the story; it's just too sadistic not to. If I was that bad, I'd be CJ. :-) In the last few weeks, CJ comes up with some excuse about his computer problems and waits an extra week to post..... For everyone knocking Brad, his latest e-mail as revealed in this chapter shows he has begun to get it, at least from Will's POV. Will's latest adventure with the cab driver certainly proved to be unsatisfying for him and perhaps he will be a little more discriminating next time. Of course, the chapter ended before Will actually called his dad. But with the rate of posting, I can't complain.
