    Chapter 35

Brad's e-mail shows he is finally getting it. Will's session with the cab driver was skeezy and he was left unsatisfied--so good! But now you leave us hanging before Will makes the call!
  2. What a forum. Reading it is like riding a roller coaster. Thanks to all!

    Chapter 34

I think Will's decision to go to the beach house at Santa Cruz was a good one, as was his decision to come home. Brad's e-mail to Will ended fine despite having four paragraphs of how mad he was and also being defensive. No e-mail or call from Robbie was another negative sign. With all the opinions and judgments flying about, I am glad to see that you are telling the story the way you want it told. All parents make mistakes. Kids always make mistakes, it's called learning by experience and growing up. I liked how the e-mails pushed the story along and we could hear Will's reaction to them. Good job and keep on writing what feels right for you!

    Chapter 3

I read this chapter last night and thought about it before reviewing. I like how the different threads to the story keep recurring, so we know that the plans for his new "house" are indeed going forward. We know the crew is coming together for this coming voyage which could be horrendous given whom he has to carry to India to replace Bertie. We know his appearance before the Privy Council will not be a bad thing. We know the ship is coming along. We've heard nothing about the abbey and the crew working there. We know George is starting to repair his relationships, including with Caroline. But the pace is a little slow compared to what we expect, especially given the comparison to Paternity. Yet the yarn is such that I can't wait to see what happens next. Mark's expertise at telling a story is unchallenged.
  6. The Odyssey of the Bacchante staring George Granger and a cast of like minded men (who are distinct and sometimes troubling characters) is starting to shape up as a very complicated journey. I foresee plenty of opportunity for some real drama.

    Self-sufficiency

Living next to an airbase...I guess it's like living close to railroad tracks, after a while you must get used to the noise of jets landing and taking off. Do you also have to put up with lots of helicopters? As bucolic as your farm sounds, the noise of the airbase must be somewhat off putting.
  8. This story has a lot of drama, generational in nature and is provoking some strong and heartfelt opinions. In my judgment, that means the author is doing something right in that he is challenging his readers, making them think and causing them to voice their opinions. The latest chapter is interesting and well written. It provides some more background on the current plot point of Will's running away and yet leaves us hanging and wanting more. Unfortunately, in reply to a posted review, Mark indicates they (J.P., Stef, Brad, Robbie, and Wade) do not find Will. Of course, he doesn't say whether Will finds them....

    Chapter 33

A very interesting chapter! I was somewhat surprised and pleased at Jeff and the gutsy way he talked to Brad. The interplay with Jeff, Stef, Wade and Brad with other tidbits thrown in was well done. Especially Robbie remembering that Will told him Brad did not provide much of an apology if he didn't hear it. Good job. However, I am now very curious to find out what happens next and how it goes down. Again thanks for the super fast turn-around time!
  10. I had to read the prologue over again after I read this chapter. It's a sad story so far. I just pray there is some 'hope' in it along the way.
  11. I wouldn't dismiss Skylar either as there are a lot of country music fans out there. As far as this year having the most talent of any so far, I would have to disagree. I do seem to remember that Daughtry came in fourth in a year with some amazing talent.
  12. I think that Joshua was obviously the best singer this week. Both his performances were absolutely entertaining and a joy to hear. Like someone has said, I'd pay to see one of his concerts.
  13. Mark wrote in reply to a posted review on this chaper: "Because when it's his own son, things are different, and the decisions are tougher. Maybe this is one of those things that you have to experience first-hand to truly understand, I don't know, but it makes complete sense to me (having gone through this myself) that someone who normally makes rational, calm decisions finds himself completely unable to do so when it comes to his son. Unless you get that, you won't get this story. That's OK. As you've noted, I wrote others." I agree, having gone through the teenage years with a son, your feelings of responsibility, being protective and wanting to properly guide your son do make you less rational at times. Now, being totally bull-headed like Brad is strictly Brad....
  14. Hey, I'm from St. Louis and we never have a clue about anything except that Steve Jackson will be good. Everybody else on the Rams team is a question mark. I do think that the Saints will be adversely effected; that Payton's glory days are probably over; that his little bro might be better than the respect he gets; and, that in the NFL a lot can change with just a few key injuries.
  15. Chapter 32 is up and for all the speculation in the forum, I think Mark handled it brilliantly. Wade and Stef got it and after seeing the results at Brad's house including the cars, clothes and kink room, including the pictures that Will took after his beating; Stef just managed not to rip Brad and Robbie new assholes as he explain the facts of life to them. J.P. is yet to be heard from and of course, Will is still hurting, traumatized and generally feeling unloved....And finally, Brad has not heard from Jeanine over all this and she will find out and may have a lot to say as well. It is usually pretty amazing how strong a mom can be when one of her cubs, even one that is not her favorite is wounded. Great job and my appetite is whetted for the next one!

    Chapter 32

WOW! I knew Stef & Wade would get it and somehow begin to make Robbie & Brad get it as well! Well written chapter! It just sort of left me with baited breath wondering how Will is doing. Evidently Mr. Martin will have some 'splaining to do' to the police. Somehow, I think J.P. will have something to say to the paternal units as well....
  17. KC mentioned your story in his status update so I had to come look and read all 6 chapters available. I Love your characters. I've used up my "likes" for today but I have 'followed' your story so I will get notified of updates. Can't wait for more! Dave
  18. Life is surprising and we must be open to possibilities. Just remember you can "never say never". And yes, your position is safe and comfortable, but sometimes you have to take a chance. If opportunity knocks, don't knock it!
  19. The chapter was an explosion powered by a long festering fuse with the ignition by Martin physically beating Will and reawakening the trauma of his kidnapping and rape. I get that. I also get that parents who actually love their kids instead of treating them like a power trip could have avoided all this. I expect that the family consequences on the paternal figures will be far more severe than the physical damage Will did to their cars, clothes and bedroom. I don't agree that they will legally lose their parental rights. In this family, when Stef and J.P get done with them, there will be a family resolution and Will will probably be living in Paly. This family is rich and powerful enough to take care of things internally without overly involving the law. The 'so-called' child psychologist will likewise be dealt with and hopefully never practice his brand of 'child' care again. Stef is not one to be crossed. J.P. isn't either. This incident will definitely cause them to take action.

    Chapter 31

WOW! Not what I expected! But WOW!
  21. I saw the kiss to the forehead and that wasn't just in my head!
  22. Renee's comment about reading the story in just two days is very telling. For anyone who enjoys a good read and loves animals as well as people who care about each other, I recommend this story wholeheartedly. Panhead 52 is on suspension but is also a wonderful story which is well worth your time!
  23. And what's with the now obvious bow to those who've compared CJ's work to a chess game? (e.g. the title of the next chapter!) Talk about playing to your base, CJ must be part politician!
  24. Bill I hate to agree completely with you, but I do!
  25. A perfect game is such a rare thing that you can only watch in awe, especially if it is your team. Watching an opposing team is only slightly less awesome.
