    Chapter 6

Amanda is a piece of work and very easy to want to punch out.
  2. Poor Will cried buckets full over the past week or so, so it was really heartwarming to see Robbie finally react to the human side of events and make his peace. I got a little teary-eyed too. Mark does spin a yarn.

    Chapter 37

    Robbie finally got it.

    Chapter 4

Thanks for the latest chapter. If anything, I fear Arthur T. is becoming more unstable. A nice chapter, but it would have been nice to have a little more description of the Abbey and they work accomplished.
  5. Since the current book is "Odyssey" I think the problems occur on the journey. Both ways! A voyage such as this during that time period was no sure thing and a resourceful captain and crew were essential for successful return.

    Chapter 7

Jonas has a great job if you can deal with the less than mundane order requests! I suspect the date will be interesting and Jonas will meet some really "different" clients eventually. Two thumbs up!
  7. Skylar was eliminated last night. Phillip wasn't even in the bottom 2, despite his lackluster performances. The surprise has been Hollie who is always in the bottom 2 or 3 and yet manages to scrape by.
  8. Continuing the manic pace of posting chapters to Paternity, Chapter 36 is up and it ends very sweetly. So for all of you that like conflict and acrimony, the only dressing down in the chapter is reserved for Robbie. I really liked the chapter. But as the world turns, I am sure we are in for some more bumps in the road. However, I suspect the manic posting phase is about ready to slow down to a more sustainable rate.

    Chapter 36

Never let it be said that Mark Arbour doesn't have a sentimental bone in his body. This chapter ended with me all teary-eyed and mushy feeling. I'd rate it a 10!
  10. There may be more than the germ of truth in what James S. said above. However, while everyone knows American football is a violent sport, guys usually don't go out there with the intention of incapacitating someone and forcing them out of the game.....And that is what happened. It is true the NFL Commish office is making an example out of the Saints with unprecedented fines and suspension in order to send the message that intentionally going out to "kill" one of your opponents is out of bounds. Was it out of proportion? Maybe. Will it get the point across. Probably. Will that have a deletorious effect on the product? Maybe.
  11. So what books do you remember that had a big impression on you? Too many but if I had to pick a series of books it would be the Hornblower series by C.S. Forester
  12. My money is on Joshua or Jessica. I'm tired of Phillip. Skylar done good and so did Hollie but the other two really sang it for me.
  13. Christian is very lucky and based on the tag line for the next chapter, still has some painful news to get through. Great job and I can't wait for more!
  14. Sanchez wants Trevor dead because his people have already blown their chances in the Canal and again when he was hit by the pirates and that makes him look inept in front of a pretty hardnosed crowd. Bridget turning up in Australia is only a plus if it results in her spectacular and very public downfall and for that we shall have to wait and see. B'stoke is an assassin and deserves to go down in flames as well. And I hope he burns! Sanchez is a slimy piece of fecal material and deserves to be poleaxed and drawn and quartered, but they don't do those things anymore. I can only hope he and his cohorts are spectacularly blown to bits in deft and daft mishandling of explosives. I too am hoping for a speedy resolution of the many remaining threads in this epic.
  15. The manic poster wrote in reply to a review about the fast posting schedule: Aww. I love coddling you. ;-) Seriously, I knew we'd have to hyperpost through this part of the story; it's just too sadistic not to. If I was that bad, I'd be CJ. :-) In the last few weeks, CJ comes up with some excuse about his computer problems and waits an extra week to post..... For everyone knocking Brad, his latest e-mail as revealed in this chapter shows he has begun to get it, at least from Will's POV. Will's latest adventure with the cab driver certainly proved to be unsatisfying for him and perhaps he will be a little more discriminating next time. Of course, the chapter ended before Will actually called his dad. But with the rate of posting, I can't complain.

    Chapter 35

Brad's e-mail shows he is finally getting it. Will's session with the cab driver was skeezy and he was left unsatisfied--so good! But now you leave us hanging before Will makes the call!
  17. What a forum. Reading it is like riding a roller coaster. Thanks to all!

    Chapter 34

I think Will's decision to go to the beach house at Santa Cruz was a good one, as was his decision to come home. Brad's e-mail to Will ended fine despite having four paragraphs of how mad he was and also being defensive. No e-mail or call from Robbie was another negative sign. With all the opinions and judgments flying about, I am glad to see that you are telling the story the way you want it told. All parents make mistakes. Kids always make mistakes, it's called learning by experience and growing up. I liked how the e-mails pushed the story along and we could hear Will's reaction to them. Good job and keep on writing what feels right for you!
  19. Pulling the age sympathy card Clydee? If it works, we are all in your debt!

    Chapter 3

I read this chapter last night and thought about it before reviewing. I like how the different threads to the story keep recurring, so we know that the plans for his new "house" are indeed going forward. We know the crew is coming together for this coming voyage which could be horrendous given whom he has to carry to India to replace Bertie. We know his appearance before the Privy Council will not be a bad thing. We know the ship is coming along. We've heard nothing about the abbey and the crew working there. We know George is starting to repair his relationships, including with Caroline. But the pace is a little slow compared to what we expect, especially given the comparison to Paternity. Yet the yarn is such that I can't wait to see what happens next. Mark's expertise at telling a story is unchallenged.
  21. The Odyssey of the Bacchante staring George Granger and a cast of like minded men (who are distinct and sometimes troubling characters) is starting to shape up as a very complicated journey. I foresee plenty of opportunity for some real drama.

    Self-sufficiency

Living next to an airbase...I guess it's like living close to railroad tracks, after a while you must get used to the noise of jets landing and taking off. Do you also have to put up with lots of helicopters? As bucolic as your farm sounds, the noise of the airbase must be somewhat off putting.
  23. This story has a lot of drama, generational in nature and is provoking some strong and heartfelt opinions. In my judgment, that means the author is doing something right in that he is challenging his readers, making them think and causing them to voice their opinions. The latest chapter is interesting and well written. It provides some more background on the current plot point of Will's running away and yet leaves us hanging and wanting more. Unfortunately, in reply to a posted review, Mark indicates they (J.P., Stef, Brad, Robbie, and Wade) do not find Will. Of course, he doesn't say whether Will finds them....

    Chapter 33

A very interesting chapter! I was somewhat surprised and pleased at Jeff and the gutsy way he talked to Brad. The interplay with Jeff, Stef, Wade and Brad with other tidbits thrown in was well done. Especially Robbie remembering that Will told him Brad did not provide much of an apology if he didn't hear it. Good job. However, I am now very curious to find out what happens next and how it goes down. Again thanks for the super fast turn-around time!
