I got my 8 year chip in October so there are a few people around who have been there. When I was using I ODed a few times. Depending on the drugs its always different. Once I ODed on speed, I couldn't sleep for days. I was more psycho and aggressive than I usually am. It's no fun laying in bed wishing for sleep and you just can't- for a few days at a time. When the drugs finally did wear off, I was out for like 36 hours. I woke up to go to the bathroom and drink water but then- flop. Other times I know that I ODed but I was too big- I could take a lot more than most people and not die. I'd just sleep it off and feel like I had died. I did know people who died. A guy I used to buy weed from mixed uppers and downers and never came back. It's crazy and the sooner you get off the crap, the better off you are. It's not like I'm never tempted to get an 8-ball for a weekend or a bottle sometimes- I just remember where it took me and I don't want to go there again.

Yes- it's the right thing to do. I'm an old fart and could tell you many stories of how coming out went very wrong. There is a peer pressure that some people exert on others to come out. Coming out is not a one size fits all proposition and nobody is sitting around with a tution check in case things go badly.

Going to Texas to visit my brother and his family. Going off line- unplugged, shudown, tuned out. Finding a cat sitter was difficult. My cat beast has a well earned reputation of being meaner than I am. As an aside, I'm not sure if I will be back. When your ignore list is becoming unmanageable, you either have to check yourself or admit that you've reached the point of diminishing returns. There is a very pronounced culture clash and generation gap at work that is making GA a hell of a lot less fun than it used to be. I am a hot tempered Cajun red neck with more baggage than Newt Gingrich. Sometimes I don't play nice with others. I rag on my friends because that's what we do. Calling me a liar is an invitation to a fight. If we were friends, I'd die before I betrayed you. I've been here a long time. If you don't know me by now, maybe it is time to move on.

I have a small confession: I love old Christmas carols. The new stuff that they started playing since just after Halloween- It's driving me absolutely postal.

Assignments Asteroid Kappa 39-442-32 Danny and Tom returned to the asteroid's surface four times. Each time they returned to the shuttle, their sample containers were jammed full. The shuttle had simply run out of room for cargo, and they would have to wait to evaluate their samples. Tom had assured both Crash and Danny that their time had been well spent.
