A young teenager learns to socialize again, and learn about himself

This short story was posted under the old eFiction and never transferred over. There it was titled 'Merchant's Gold', but I never really liked the title. So with a few tweaks, I am reposting it now. It was/is the very basic idea for a much long story I hope to one day post.

Etral has fought for most of his life, always alone, frequently in the hostile environment of the deep wilderness of Brevarun. Sometimes, though, the wilderness isn't what you think it is, and the wildlife maybe isn't so hostile.

Mark always takes a dare.

Travis has given up on finding love. That is until he meets this stranger that leads him everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

Fear and pain surround Wes. His journey is witnessed and shared by the one person who will never give up on him. He just has to take that first step.

Gavin Barnett is a 21st century Marine. He is strong, professional and hard. He has one problem.. he is out of his own time.

This is a simple story. I don't think it will get complicated. But, then, what do I know.

ELIJAH (Amorous Things, Library of Horror Press, 2010) tells the story of two men: One, Rudolph, the owner of a business tycoon and two, Elijah--who, by his partner's oppressive need, is forced to be 'perfect.' Perfection, however, is not perfect, as it will soon become apparent when Elijah contracts a skin condition.

WAR IS IN THE HEARTS OF MEN (Amorous Things, Library of Horror Press 2010) tells the story of two young men: one, a grocery store clerk; the other: a soon-to-be-armed-service member. In the midst of John's preparation to join the military, his partner, Markus, is almost unable to function, as his partner's past comes flooding back like a tidal wave approaching a shore in the form of words from a dead man's lips.
