Drew's Poetry Prompts - 1. Poetry Prompt 1

p> Poetry Prompt 1- TANKA

Morning light greets me.

All color has washed away.

Leaves now out of sight,

Underneath the white blankets.

I remember the Stark words.

I hope I did this prompt justice.

You did more that just justice in this Tanka.  I loved the image you created.  It was as fresh and lovely as the new fallen snow it described.

Thanks Terry!

@Drew Espinosa -- the comments about snow in Texas reminded me of, in the mid 1970s, my best friend and his wife moved from St. Louis, Missouri, to Fort Worth, Texas.  They stopped in Dennison, Texas, for vehicle fuel and food, and my friend saw a screaming newspaper headline, something like: "Arctic Storm Paralyzes City!"  There was maybe an inch to maybe one and a half inches of snow there, and they had loaded up and driven through 13 inches of snow in St. Louis to leave for Texas.  So after living in Missouri for 23 years, his attitude as he looked at snow barely covering Dennison, "What arctic storm?"

You did well.

I've lived in the Texas Panhandle my whole life, it's one of the few regions in Texas that sees regular snowfall in winter. I remember years ago back in school, a girl had just moved from Houston to my hometown. Her first winter there, she was shocked at how cold it could get and seeing snow in real life for the first time.

Thanks for the review and for sharing that anecdote, Paul!
