Drew's Poetry Prompts - 9. Not A Prompt- The Eternal Flame

For Skinny.
The Eternal Flame

The clouds gather.
Color has grayed.
The Sun beyond
Our very sight.

All is cold, dark.
Except… it’s not.

That house, inside…
Some light shines through.
Knock on the door,
And be welcomed.

Colors dance and sing
Before the light
Of a candle
Lit like the Sun.

All is warm, light.
And… it’s good.

I later learned
That this candle’s
Flame, was first lit
By a Dragon.

And, no matter what
His flame will endure.
No matter how dark things get, there is always a light still burning bright.

I knew when I saw your poetry update that it would be about Skinny.

This was a beautiful poem, Drew, from a beautiful person to a beautiful person.

Skinny's flame will always be shining bright.

Thank you Tim. I was (and still am) really heartbroken over his news. And, I had to find a way to express it. If he d-(can't say the word :( ), he will live on through his stories and above all, through our memories.

Thank you Mama. His flame will endure. I meant what I said last night, I would move heaven and earth just to take away his pain.

Thank you Lisa. 2016 has been described as a terrible year, but it didn't hit me how truly awful it has been until yesterday. I'm hoping for a miracle, it'd be too painful to lose Skinny.

He is such a wonderful person, whose light will always shine no matter what happens.

Drew, that was just beautiful.

Thank you Puppilull. Years down the road, when a new member joins GA and they ask for story recommendations, I'll point them straight to 18 Weeks of Twoey and all of Skinny's other stories.

Heartfelt, gripping, insightful and wonderful. You put into words what a lot of us feel and are not able to put forth. A candle has been lit and will burn for eternity........................

Thanks Rob. It still pains me with what Skinny has to go through, but I am so thankful that he left his mark on GA with his wonderful stories.

I really do love this poem.  However, as I was reading the comments I flashed on this and thought you would appreciate the humor.

Sorry for the late response, Terry, your comments were buried under a ton of notifications.

Anyways, I'm glad you loved this poem, Terry!
