April Musings - 5. NaPoWriMo 2016 - Week Three
Poem #13
Written for Mikiesboy
Loss
Empty sunspot,
Devoid of warmth.
Cooking dinner
With no fear of tripping.
Silence
When the doorbell rings.
Hope
We will meet again one day.
Poem #14
Music of the Barn
Rhythmic footfalls clop a beat –
One two three four
One two three four
Light snorting breathing
On the last,
Head nodding on the first.
Lowing bass joins in,
Followed by baying howl,
And clucking counterpoint.
Tympanic clang of horn on metal,
Signals feeding time.
Poem #15
Cats and dogs are
Raining on my yard,
Puddling their scents
In an effort to claim
What’s mine as theirs.
Renga poem #16 & 17 (we each wrote two stanzas on different days, so I am counting them as two poems)
Valkyrie, Aditus, Mikiesboy and Puppilull proudly present VAMP's first poem:
The bright lights flashing
Obscure the closeness we seek
And leave us blinded
So many words unspoken
Our love in pieces—broken
Words ever whispered
in the dark are seared deeply
into memory.
Haunting echoes of past crimes,
memories of happy times.
Can we open eyes
Gone blind with past transgressions,
Reforming the whole?
Focusing on what we shared
See each other with souls bared.
Please let's try again
Our love is worth fighting for—
Two souls meant to be
Merging those halves of a whole
And twining our shattered soul
Poem #18
I’ve never feared being alone.
Solitude is a comforting fortress.
You can’t be hurt
If you don’t venture out.
I’ve never feared independence,
A luxury of youth.
I’ve never feared being alone.
The company of cats
And occasional men
Has sufficed.
Until now.
Poem #19
Opportunity Lost
One day you’ll be
Ready to run
Into open arms
Instead of away from.
Poem #20
The Cloud Messenger
Roiling blackness angers
The sky’s features
Punctuated by shouts
Of illumination
As the torrent is unleashed.
