Re-Verse - 3. More NaPoWriMo Dabblings

More inspiration gleaned from those poets on GA who write for NaPoWriMo every day - as the title suggests, I only dabble.

Old Wilf

 

Old Wilf pilfers skim milk and pilchards as oodles of sky-blue poodles pooter round to his place. He helps a heartless hog swim and swirl, then swish and skirl, squishing one poor cat flat as he does so. At noon, he swoons at the sight of some gormless buffoons, and then inks two twinks with three moons and a sphinx. 'Good god', he groans and sings mean tones, then whets both his wives with the whistle of a bibulous, carolling bat.

I'm sorry!

 

I read

And never fully comprehend

I brood

And over-think such simple things

I analyse

And find meanings where there are none

I look

And dwell on what is present only in my mind

I imagine

And so await that which will never happen

 

I really should remember the

Simplicity and truth of your love.

Eric

 

Feelings deep hidden

Concealed long within,

Time-shrivelled shoots now

Bursting forth, bringing

New hopes, new regrets,

Joy, sadness, healing,

New friends, and maybe

Even now, some love.

More words

 

Words drip from my pen, one by one,

Leaking slowly from a old, rusty tap.

 

Words flow endlessly onto my page,

Telling their story effortlessly.

 

Words cumulate, billowing around my head,

Raining down at the most unexpected times.

 

Words babble and chatter through my mind,

A fast-flowing stream of welcome inspiration

 

Words pool unused, lapping at my keyboard,

Abandoned to their dark, watery grave.

 

Words reflect back my heart and mind,

Giving voice to my hopes and fears.

Haiku

 

Hov'ring falcon swoops

Down, bringing swift murder to

Silent, silvered dawn

My first attempts at haiku and prose poetry.

You have a wonderful bouquet here, northie.

 

I'm not sure how i feel about prose poetry .. i don't really get it, i suppose. I don't see the beauty in it myself. That doesn't mean there isn't for some and I like that you tried it. That's cool.  I did like the oodles of poodles, being a lover of that type of pooch. 

 

I'm sorry is nice ... not sure what form that is, but it worked well for this piece. And that's were form comes from, from trying something different. 

 

Eric is lovely.. full of loss and desire and hope.

 

Your haiku is nice also.. but not a fav form of mine. It's a bit too clinical for me. 

 

But northie your Words is truly a wonderful thing. Gosh it is alive with pictures and motion.. i absolutely love it.

I don't know the intent, but "I'm Sorry" made me think of killing time between anxiously awaited visits. That, mentally going in circles, examining each remembered touch and word, for no other reason than to fill the void. I don't know if that's me, or if we all suffer similarly :) ... anyway, it was evocative for me, so thank you. "Eric" was lovely, but "More Words" was another I related to... gorgeous... there's a word for you... 'apt' is another one... cheers, my friend... Gary....

Gorgeous is a word I'm quite partial to, but usually giving not receiving. Thanks, Gary. :) I'm sorry in my case relates to the written word but it is certainly open to other interpretations.

Thank you! I was a little unsure about posting them without you seeing them first. The haiku was a case in point and I'm glad it worked for you. More words I thoroughly enjoyed writing and luckily it was more flow than drip. :P

I found myself imaging the absurdity of your prose looking for a pink baby elephant as I'm sure there must be one lurking nearby.

Oh, dugh, I'm sorry there was no pink elephant - my imagination is obviously a little lacking ... :gikkle: .

The haiku is fine. AC Benus is better suited for an analysis. But, the first free verse is quite sublime; a broad built like a redbrick shithouse, would be an analogy worthy of its robust mouthfeel. It eclipsed even "More Words". Made me very glad to read them all.  

 

I find it fascinating - reading everyone's differing views on what they liked, what caught their imagination and why ...

I like all your poems here but the haiku was so powerful...eric has got the feels, I like how u showed the bursting forth of suppressed feelings...

N the imagery for 'more words' were excellent...!!! All in all a wonderful read it is!
