Loving Fiercely: How I Resist - 2. Chapter 2: The Queen and Mr. Snapback
I'd also like to thank AC Benus and Irritable1 for the poetry prompts. Your posts and instruction have helped improve my poetry a lot :).
The Queen
I’m looking at you, Queen.
Your hair dryer in hand
You revel in the obscene
You dare to make a stand
With a dangerous wit
Kept in your arsenal
It is not a secret
You are seen as trouble
Taking the world off guard
You're seen as a cartoon
A true joke, a discard
Honorary buffoon
You are misunderstood
Though you speak deadly truths
You stand firm though you could
Be attacked for these truths
You spit the failings of
Society, a true
Destiny from above
We’ve been waiting for you
With mascara and gold
High heels with painted toes
It will soon be unfold
You fighting through the throes
Of relentless resistance

Mr. Snapback
You are Mr. Snapback
coming to me with that same ol’
swag. Your hat turned back - your
biceps bulging out - you don’t give
A f* - and that’s what we
assume you are all about. But
It’s a cover for the
trauma you’ve hidden underneath
You delight in the world
that fears you when they sleep. You use
it to your advantage so you
can’t be hurt further. People only
see you as destined to
be murdered. The world sees you as
trouble, suspicious, and
cruel . You laugh at their ignorance
You are no fool. Why fight
this obvious lie - best just to
play the stereotype.
If your greatness was unstinted
your path would be to thrive.
The leader of a movement - an
agent of change. Go on
Mr. Snapback - we know the deal
The world needs a fighter
and it’s your presence that will heal.
The scars of battles fought
to establish a better world
