Cozy Contemplations - 14. Chapter 14 Grandson and In Our Sandbox

To my little man....

Cozy Contemplations

Chapter 14

Grandson

Little boy

You warm Papa's heart

It's been the same

Right from the start

Third to hold you

On your birth day

Relieved to know

You were okay

Time's flown by

And now you're nine

Such a little man

Grandson of mine

I wish for you

A world of joys

But for today

I bring you toys

You and I

Will have some cake

But first you must

Some wishes make

And Papa will try

To turn them true

For you can always rely

On my loving you

Happy Birthday, little man.

To my GA friends...

In Our Sandbox

Warmest tidings

I return to you

As we greet

This world anew

Please take hold

My offered hand

And we'll build castles

In the sand

Cementing friendships

Real and strong

To help withstand

The daily throng

It is enough

To know you're there

Amidst life's constant

Wear and tear

These good thoughts

I send your way

In hopes the sun

Kisses you this day

Thanks for reading. I have some cake to go eat :)

:kiss::heart::heart:  A Happy Birthday to one of the luckiest little boys in the world, to have you for a Gramps!  (I'm not taking that exclamation mark back--I don't think you'll begrudge it me this time)  :wizard:

You have a precious gift that most gay men can never have--the joys of children you fathered, and the continuation of your example into the future--it didn't dawn on me when I first accepted my gayness that I was the last of my direct line...but over the years, it's come to mean something more to me than it used to.  For untold millennia a long line of people led to one thing--me--and it seems my genes won't go on into the Future we all dream of...cousins will go on, most of whom I don't know...but my father had only one other son--and he and his wife of many years have never had children.  My father's other child, my half-sister, has a son, but so far as I know, he hasn't fathered any children either, nor has his sister.  So, I am the last of my line, 180 years in America, beginning with one man, growing to large families, but coming down to just me and my two half-siblings in one generation.

So, my dearest friend...I envy your luck, and know you will instill countless loving moments for your grandkids to cherish...if you could, give him a hug from me, a friend who wishes him all the best in the world.

You are so right that it is a precious gift. I don't ever take it for granted... I may have paid a price in my journey, but it was always worth it for what I gained. The hug was delivered in spades, buddy. He was a very busy boy that day :) . I don't make light of you being the last of your line, but I have a small but important rebuttal. You are leaving behind a small family of characters who live their lives on pages. They are your progeny, and you should be a proud dad.... When are our lives are over, we only need be remembered fondly, and i have no doubts you will.

I shed some happy tears as I felt the love and warmth of these two poems.  Reading them after the two prior poems felt like you were showing me two of the colorful gems in your life.  Well done my friend!

Aww... thank you for this, Terry. I have many gems in my life, and I am indeed a fortunate man. Glad you were moved by these.
