Cozy Contemplations - 19. Chapter 19 Hallowed

I remember....

Cozy Contemplations

Chapter 19 Hallowed

Giggles and Goosebumps

So comes the time for ghastly ghouls

Demons let loose to break all the rules

Fun mixed with fear as little kids venture

Into the darkness of a night without censure

Goosebumps and giggles and 'trick or treat'

And the innocent scamper of excited feet

A spooky rite of passage they look forward to

Do you all remember when that kid was you?

Happy Halloween to all my dear friends... a time we can be kids again

BOOH!!

Thanks for reading. May some giggles and goosebumps be part of your day. :)

So many great memories!  We lived a mile west of our little town, so going door-to-door was a trek for kids, so we would get taken into our 'town' to do it, and got plenty of candy and smiles from parents on their porches!  No fear of tampered sweets then, and we could shout and run from house to house with friends or siblings...sigh.  I think I was 14 when I last went, and I felt too old to do a ghost or fireman or pirate...so I went as Julius Caesar!  A bedsheet toga and all...I was one geeky kid, and I don't think anyone had a clue who I was supposed to be, so I gave up saying Caesar and said 'Roman' instead.  :)

I have great memories of dressing up and trick or treating too... and even better ones of my kids doing the rounds with dad. :)  I always took them into town, and you're right... it was much safer back in our day... friends and I would go out without supervision. I still remember being scared of some of the costumes, though... one grim reaper one in particular scared the crap out of me... and I felt like he was following me. Looking back, he may well have been. He was definitely an adult... bah ha ha ... thanks for commenting, buddy. Happy Halloween!! xoxo

Oh to relive those innocent days when masks and costumes were often homemade as well as some of the great sweets  I collected.  The scariest things back then were Lon Chaney and Boris Karloff movies. ❤️

Such excitement leading up to the day. I never once wore a store bought costume or mask. I got to relive that joy later with my kids. I was as excited as they were. :)  Thanks, buddy.
