It is touching, heartbreaking, and full of love, acceptance, and hope. Kenny is a sweet guy who does right by his mom as dementia takes its heartless toll.

It is a beautiful story not to be missed.

Response from the author:

Thanks tim!

It was a bit hard to write and you know I was on the fence with submitting it. I'm glad I did. Thanks for your input xoxo.

It's no coincidence that my 100th, celebratory, Review at GA goes to @kbois' story! ❤

@kbois deals with dementia, illness and death in this story. In her unique way, she explores how every family member cope with pain and face the awareness of inevitable loss.

Above all, this story is deep, emotional farewell. Farewell devoid of any pathos but colored with lots of love, some sadness, anger and little bit of humor.

Peggy left such beautiful legacy, amazing foundations in her family that her funeral becomes a celebration of her life - life that was worth of living.

Thank you @kbois! Thank you for making this farewell, even for us who couldn't do it! ❤

Response from the author:

My mom passed away a little over two years ago, but her dementia stole her mind years before that.  I still miss her everyday.  Watching a parent lose their memories and recall capability really sucks,  but it does prepare you for the end. You see it coming.  It gives you the opportunity to come to grips with the situation and say goodbye. I lost my dad suddenly and I'm not sure which is harder.

Thanks for your review and....

Yay, I'm #1 (hundred)

A wonderful story that explores the losing of a parent to dementia.

We see the family dynamics explored as they deal with there Mum's condition.

A great read.

Thanks Chris!

It is never easy to lose a parent.

In this short story, @kbois explores what losing your last parent to dementia might be like. Like many families, there is a bit of dysfunction amongst the adult children. It provides a backdrop for interpersonal relationships that can either be made whole or utterly destroyed.

Response from the author:

Family dynamics can be a challenge in these situations. I hope anyone who is currently dealing with this takes care of themselves too.

Thanks for your review!

Yet another story that took the theme "In Too Deep" and ran with it. From the very title of Depth Perception down to the 5,555 exact word count. (Why has no one mentioned that magical word count?) This story will suck you right into the complexity of familial relationships, the various ways we (as humans) grieve, and the many bonds one creates over the years. I cried, I laughed, and then I wept some more. This was a beautiful and bittersweet read that resonated deeply with me.

Response from the author:

The word count tally was completely unintentional. I'm one of those authors who thinks they're ready to submit the final final final draft... then ends up adding or deleting words at the last second.

Thanks for reading and reviewing... I appreciate it!
